Understanding a situation doesn’t always make it easier.
Colleen Hoover, Slammed (via wordsnquotes)
Phoebe was in the small section of the shop that sold clothes. Not the costumes that you’d expect from a Halloween store but actual, everyday clothing. It wasn’t that she only wore gothic-styled clothing but more of the fact that the clothing sold from this store was generally better quality than most of the other stores that she went to. Plus being the friend of the owner’s son had it’s benefits.
Being in this part of the store meant Phoebe was pretty much completely out of the way of the other customers and she was glad for it. She liked having moments like these to herself, having time to unwind and think about herself for a change. Since she was so invested in her thoughts and looking for a new outfit, she didn’t hear the approaching footsteps until hands were clasping her shoulders and she jumped around, getting ready to attack.
"God dammit Hal!" She called out and shoved him lightly. After a moment when she had calmed down, she let out a small chuckle and looked around them. She saw a fake axe and reached for it. "I could’ve used this on you.”
Hal laughed when she shoved him, taking off the mask afterwards and tossing it on the shelf. "I'd like to see you try," he said, pointing at the fake axe. "But you should've seen your face!" He nudged her shoulder before taking the axe from her hand and hanging it back on the wall. He took a moment to admire the other weapons that were displayed, and grinned when he saw a sword with a skull for the pommel. He took it off the rack and swung it around a couple of times before turning back to Phoebe.
"So what've you been up to?" he asked her. "It's been a while since I've seen you."
Well, if it isn’t Hally. How’s my brother from another mother doing?
Hey, well isn't it Eddie!
I've been fine actually, constantly finding things to do. What about you? How art thou, brother?
Lily couldn’t help but laugh, even in their situation. It was just a little laugh, it could have easily been mistaken for a ragged breath of air. She slid the stele back in her boot and helped Hal move a little more quickly and quietly. “No, it’s not a wand. It’s a stele,” she told him.
She was pushing against the feeling of the dark. She knew it was the poison from the demon, but she couldn’t do anything about it at that moment. She had to get her and the guy, Hal, back to the institute.
"A stele?" he asked, his voice sounding rushed as he gasped for air. Hal looked up at the dim brightness that he assumed was the exit to the alleyway. He just needed to get there, and then he could let go of the shadows that surrounded them and hid them from the demon-thing; hopefully they'd also be able to get away in time. He didn't know how much longer he'll be able to support himself on his feet.
She remembered him now. She had seen him in the Institute earlier and said hello. She whimpered slightly but other than that, showed no sign of pain. “Wait,” she breathed out. She felt around in her boot and found her emergency stele. She quickly drew the best she could with her left hand on her upper right arm where it wasn’t injured. She ignored the sting of it and wrapped her arm around Hal for support, for him it seemed, more than her.
"Th-this rune should help us," She had drawn the nimble rune, which meant speed and silence, but with her bad vision she might not have drawn it well enough for it to last to long.
Hal glanced back at her, notcing her taking something out from her boot. It looked like a stick, but the end of it glowed. "Is... that a wand?" he asked as he kept going, taking quick glances between the girl and the monster-demon behind them. "And what's a rune?" He wanted to ask more but saved his breath. He could just feel the darkness leaving, as if it's finally letting go of him than the other way around.
Lily held her right arm in pain. The dart had gone right into her hand spreading it’s poison and her shoulder was cut open and bleeding from sliding on the sidewalk. She suddenly felt something wrapping around her, enveloping her, she would have screamed if she could, but she couldn’t find her voice. She closed her eyes tight and clenched her left fist. She didn’t even notice the demigod crawling her way.
She “jumped” when she heard the voice next to her. She opened her eyes and turned slightly toward the voice, stifling the gasp of pain from her arm. She saw a boy who looked awfully familiar, but she couldn’t see clearly enough to know exactly who it as. He sounded out of breath though. “Yeah, I’m Lily,” she gasped out through clenched teeth. “And w-who is me?” she asked her vision getting worse and her head getting dizzy.
"Me?.. Hal," he told her. "We said hi for like a couple of minutes and that was it. But yeah, come on." Hal took her gently by the arm--hoping he didn't cause her pain--and began to pull her along with him, trying to get away from the monster-demon. "I'm not sure... how long I'll be able to keep this up." He sighed heavily and wished he hadn't Shadow Travelled earlier.
She was trapped, cornered. There was no way out. The demon had caught her by surprise on the street and she didn’t have any weapons on her, so she ran, but it chased her into a dead end alley. It edged slowly toward her, watching her fear and drinking it in. That worried her and confused her. Most demons would have killed her by now, but this one just watched her as it edged slowly toward her. She was cut up from tripping through some bushes, but ignored the pain.
"Help!" she called out and as soon as she did she knew it was a bad idea. It flicked it’s tail and a poison dart went straight through her hand. She cried out in pain but held back the tears starting to form.
Using Shadow Travel to get from one place to the other was one thing, but having enough energy to fight afterwards was another. Hal had managed to sense a life aura that was slowly weakening, but he wished that he'd just run instead of Shadow Travelling--the first choice was just a bit slower but less exhausting. He'd only managed to stumble into the alleyway, leaning against the wall to prevent himself from falling down to the ground; he wasn't sure if he'd be able to get back up if he did.
He looked up when he heard the girl cry in pain--her aura seemed weak now, almost distant. Then he realized that it was the poison from the... was it a monster or a demon? Or was there a difference? It didn't matter; Hal made his way closer to the two. It was dark, which gave him an advantage. The darkness was pulling on whatever strength he had left, as if begging him to let go, let them do whatever. He tried to ignore the pull on his gut but it was hard to ignore the darkness when it surrounded him. He looked at the monster-demon thing. No, it was too big; it'll take up a lot of energy. But the girl--was her name Lily?--a weakening aura, yes, he could probably save her and still end up conscious.
Hal closed his eyes, seeing--feeling--the darkness wrapping around the girl, hiding her from the monster-demon thing. Taking a deep breath and hoping it actually worked, he made his way towards her. It only took him a minute to realize that he was crawling towards her. Once he reached her, he forced himself up on his feet, leaning against the wall to support himself. "Don't worry, it's me," he said, turning to look at her direction. He sounded almost breathless, nearly gasping for breath. "Lily... right?"
"Hi"

Hello!
Hey! I'm Hal.

Hal stepped into the Halloween store cautiously, taking glances at the "fake" skeleton in the display glass. Ever since that small incident he had, he'd been debating whether to visit the store or not--it seemed like a good place to try out his powers.
As he walked by the aisles, he jumped at every motion-activated prop; he looked left and right to make sure that nothing was reaching out to him or following him when he wasn't looking. Either he needed to control his powers more or his father had a secret sense of humor. He stopped at the end of an aisle when a skeleton's eyes glowed red as he stood in front of it. It was making a groaning noise and, curious, Hal poked its eyes. And the skeleton lifted its hand to poke his eyes.
With a cry, Hal stumbled back and hurried off to a different aisle. He glanced around to make sure no one noticed his little scene there. He peaked out from his aisle and down the row, and his eyes grew when he saw a raven-haired girl with her back to him. But he recognized her anywhere. With a grin on his face, he grabbed a Scream mask from a shelf and quietly crept towards her. Once he was right behind her, he took a deep breath and clamped his hands over her shoulders. "Boo!" he cried near her ear.

Haldir Silvers || Looks like Max Irons || Nineteen || Demigod, Son of Hades || Interested in Phoebe, friends with Percy, Tyson, and Clary || T A K E N Most would say that Haldir isn’t the typical Hades Child, he isn’t cruel or cold like the others———— he spent more time with his mother in the Mundane world, so he became more accustomed to them and how they acted. He is considered one of the most humane and nicest of his children and he isn’t going to change any day soon. He is happy with who he is and he isn’t about to change just because he found out who his father truly is. He is still trying to cope with the fact that he has all these powers and is a child of one of the powerful three, so why is he expected to be anything like his siblings? They have been there for longer than he has. He is rather excited about what is going on in their world now. He was happy to learn that there are not only Demigods, but that the other creatures exist too——- vampires, werewolf, warlocks, they are all real, not just in movies. He’s just waiting for the zombies and elves to show up and then it’ll be a real party. He’s quite a goofball, as everyone soon finds out, which just leaves them more surprised when they find out that his father is Hades. Haldir is someone to take seriously though, he is powerful and as he explores his powers, he becomes stronger and a better match. He isn’t just learning about his own role in this world, but he’s spending time with the other species’ and learning about them. He wants to be ready for the war because he is not going to hell, not going to be with his father, he is going to fight and survive. So will those that he cares for, he will make sure of it. I m p o r t a n t C o n n e c t i o n s: Tyson and Percy: The two Son’s of Poseidon, he likes them quite a lot. He has never really been close to family members but these two are the exceptions. He finds them to be nice and he likes being around them. With them, he’s learning more about what it means to be a good person and a Demigod of one of the powerful three. Clary and Phoebe: His two favorite girls, he likes talking to them and enjoys being around them. Although he does feel different about them, he sees Clary as a best friend but Phoebe as something more. Haldir admires how she can be herself and stay strong even though she is what she is. He thinks he’s a lot like her, especially when they’re both expected to be a certain way but they aren’t.
