Was reading Soulmate AU in another fandom and suddenly I was like: "Hold on, where's the Byler Soulmate AU?"
In this AU I would imagine that Soulmates are only reserved for a man & a woman and those who have same sex soulmarks would often cover them up because people view them as a mistake from God; an eror of his creations, an abomination of nature or maybe even the works of the devil himself to spread "sin" into this world and people with a soulmarks of the same gender would go extreme ways to get rid of the mark, some cut their wrist till it leaves scars that made them unreadable, some burned or poured acid on their skin; ultimately it would lead to millions of people getting emergency care if not, died.
At the age of 16 both boys have their wrist covered & people started teasing them, labeling them as a bunch of **** and Mike started to stay away from Will, & Will cant even blame him, he sometimes even blame his soulmark; have wished that it didnt appear in the first place becauseit it became a symbol of what destroyed their friendship, sometimes he cant even bear to look at his mark, he has said to others and to himself that he wont fall in love and yet the mark on his wrist is a glaring reminder of a reflection of his heart. As if his body has betrayed his mind, showing the truth of his heart and identity and how cruel is that?
To be born in a world where everyone proudly showed of their marks, and knowing that the ones who covered their wrist are God's error of creation.
One day, the party meet a strange individual that carries the face of their friend, same height, same hair, same voice and when they look at his wrist...it wasnt covered, it has a familiar name written on his skin, they asked if it was true and he proudly showed his wrist to them and he said "Wonderful isn't? The universe saw how much I love him so they decided to write his name onto my skin" His gaze would settle onto Will, he gave him a look that made him breathless, a look that was like a thousand conversation that only the two them share, a look that he never thought he will get to see again, a look full of unwavering love "It's a symbol of my devotion"
And Will can feel his eyes sting
โ Anyway, I imagined that Sir Mike's world has a lot of Gods and Goddess and they have a God that was neither a man or a woman, a god that gave them soulmarks as gifts to humanity, in order to find their love in every reincarnation, in every form, in every universe.
And Christiamity ruins it (bcs they always do) I assumed that the tales of the Gods and Goddesses have become lost and the origins of the soul marks have become nothing more but a fable.
- This Christianity move is inspired by my country that was colonized by the Spaniards, have spread christianity like the plague and have cut our tounge and burned our books written of our language and tales of our Gods and Godesses, who have Dieties who carry no gender and thus our community back then where welcoming of transgender folk and know its all shit, anyway, lets get back to byler.
โ Suicide is probably common in this world bcs of same sex soulmarks, that even if you decided to off yourself for tax fraud people would label you as gay and some people would be glad for your death because it would lessen the "sickness" in this world
โ There would be products made for you to get rid of your soulmark, the products would often come in categories: Ranging from low, mild and high. Would have instructions at the back on how many times you would apply it onto your skin, from 3-2 times a day, it would come in, in cream or liquid form. These products are a scam and ultimately leads to nowhere, but the high category products are acidic and CAN leave burns and scars onto your skin
> Sir Mike saw that product onto Will and has seen the damage it has caused onto his mark, he looks at him with tears in his eyes "Never have I doubted thy love for thee, but have I became so unlovable in this world for you to hurt yourself and erase thy Gifts from the Gods?" Seeing Mike cry, no matter which universe, made his heart break...
In the end, Will throws the product in the trash
โ Soul marks can change if you have fallen out of love and has fallen in love with someone else, tho it takes a while to get rid of the mark so Sir Mike recognize the harmful liquid, cause it has been used in his world, when two people had a bad falling out of love. He didnt think that Will would use it...no matter which universe.
โ The last person who you have fallen in love with before you die will appear onto your wrist on your next life
โ These soulmarks are a gift and it reflects one love to another, two souls bounded, sharing a secret conversation; a decleration of love where words cant describe the weight of one's feelings; a symbol, a silent sign of saying "I love you"
โ Mike keeps on dating other girls because he's hoping that the mark would dissapear...it didnt.
-Sir Mike would know his intentions and would scold him
โ In this world, there's probably queer people who have found their soulmate and do secret weddings and dates, doing photoshoots showing their soul marks side by side
- And I imagined that those photos would never reach them cause the store that develops their film would saw then and immidetly put their photos in the trash
โ I imagine that there would be a protest where there would be a grafitti on a wall, with two wrist carrying same sex soulmarks
โกAnyway, I got nothing else to add, feel free to make a fanfic out of this cause I sure as hell wont, cause I am lazy and probably bcs I never saw single epislde of Stranger Things just compilations and scenes on YouTube.
