This is probably off topic but you know in finding Nemo with the seagulls saying "mine" over and over again. If reader is half mer than she can understand them probably.bI just thought how funny it would be to deal with that on a daily basis.
Oh yeah! This has already been established in a previous post but Reader can understand marine life and really anything from or around the sea. Not all animals are smart enough to communicate but a lot of them are. They could defiently hear seagulls when they caw though I'm not sure about a lot of other birds as they'd have to be water/sea based. :)
Their used to hearing animals talking so they can block it out if they need too. It can get quit noisy hearing all these different conversations/words being thrown indirectly at you, so it's something Reader would have to focus on to really hear. Most of the time it's background noise unless their really paying attention.
Not a question so much as an adorable mental image, but... merpup Rodimus attempting to woo Reader. Everything else remains the same aside from Roddy being a pup. It's a cute thing.

sorry, I'm still trying to figure it out. The reader has, well, some specific (adopted?)parent, why are others after her? For example Tyrest or DJD, Overlord,Deathsarus
My rules have a very basic timeline if that helps.
This is a merformers a.u where Reader is a half mer who was adopted by a human Ratchet at a young age. They grew up on land unaware of their abilities until they realized they could breath underwater. Once they learned about this ability they began meeting new mers!
Pharma is their real father and a mer in this a.u Hes apart of the DJD pod and Tarns mate. Tarn can't have children and steals the egg sacs (like tcoggs) of other mers trying to have kids. Pharma who typically does this surgery eventually explains he has a child but they are on land and are only half mer and he lost them long ago. Tarn gets the amazing idea of stealing this child and raising them with Pharma (Even though they are full grown)
Reader being half mer has some very special abilities and powers. They later find out about these skills and influential mers like Tyrest want them because they believe their a descendant of Primus.

The Reader is a half mer.
The blogs name is half-mer-child because the reader is a half mer. They can breathe under water and have some abilities because they're half mer :)
Their adopted dad Ratchet works with them at a new facility.

Ummmm let's see. They are still a rescue team. They work at another mer facility and team up with humans on rescues. Each mer is assigned their own rescue partner human but they all love the islands kid Cody Burns. Cody comes to the dock everyday and tells them about human life and his day. When their not working they hang out with him and their other human partners.
They often visit your facility to drop off reports and pick up supplies. They'd stay for extended periods of time to aid in Research but Griffin Rock needs them to be on the island as the people are often getting into trouble.
The Rescue Mers all have special powers involing the elements,
HeatWave (fire) would control underwater volcanoes and could change the temperature of the water around him from freezing to boiling.
Chase (water) can create powerful whirl pools and currents allowing him to control where a mer can swim. He uses this power to counter mers who try to sink ships.
Boulder (earth) can cause powerful underwater earthquakes but he also has the ability to make coral reefs and marine plant life grow. He'll use seaweed to rope up evil mers until they can be dealt with.
Blades (air) can make very powerful wind storms on the surface and can contorl the air pressure under water. He uses this to help lost divers or people stuck in sunken ships.

You were out in the ocean enjoying some much needed time off from work when you see a blurr of red. Your relaxation is put on hold when you get a fast splash to the face. Shocked you swallow water and sink under the waves surprised. Confused you look around. Nothing?
Suddenly you feel a tail tickle you. Eyes wide as you look around you feel a webbed hand quickly brush past your leg before you see movement in the seaweed stalks below.
Giggling at the game you spin in a circle trying to cach the culprit but whoevers playing tag they're fast. Kicking forward you begin searching harder curiosity beginning to overwhelm you as you dive into the seaweed forest. You hear clicks and launching forward you see three blurred colors taking off in different directions.
Red. Purple. Blue.
Pushing off the sandy ground and out of the seaweed you hum glancing around. You had an idea of who the mers messing with you were but you wanted to make sure. Spinning around again seeing the coral reef to the side of you and the seaweed below you hum, cheeks puffed out as you think.
Squeaking as a hand wraps around your ankle, you scream as webbed hands yank you down before your pulled into a tight hug.
"Hi Starscream!" You greet. The mer chirps excitedly in repsonse and nuzzles you. Wrapping your arms behind his neck and your legs around his waist he smirks.
"Your getting slower." He teases. You had a game where you'd try to tag the mer who was messing with you or call out their name.
"Oh shush." Playfully pushing away he chitters and pulls you closer whining. Nuzzling you purring SkyWarp and ThunderCracker pop up from the seaweed a minute later before their eyes lock on you. "Hey guys!" You wave and they smile swimming over.
"Long time no see." ThunderCracker says before Buster swims out of the seaweed and charges at you. You let go of Starscream and smile petting your favorite sea creature as Buster rolls over for you to get their tummy.
"I didn't know you guys were visiting!" You say excitedly before giving Buster a good scratch and a kiss. Buster chirps happily in response and you smile.
"Yeah well we missed our favorite halfer. Come on!" Racing you to the surface you follow after SkyWarp determined to win. Your close but arrive a second after him making him smug. He smirks breaching the surface first and you laugh in response splashing him.
"You started first. Unfair." You state as Starscream and ThunderCracker join you. SkyWarp teases you and you laugh along as you lay backwards floating in the water.
Starscream laying back with you reaches out his hand taking yours. ThunderCracker grabs your other hand and the two hold SkyWarps hand as you all lazily float.
"Are you guys staying for awhile?" You ask curious.
"Yep so you better get used to us popping up." SkyWarp says matter of factly. You smile.
"Wouldn't trade it for the world." You hum in response and squeeze their hands. You loved your mer friends.
Whirl?
I base Whirl after a blue lobster.
Whirl is an artist. He's always had an artists soul and before the war he had hands to help him with his art. During the war he pissed off the wrong people with his work and he suffered gravely for it. One eye was carved out while his hands were crushed and broken. No healers could help him.
His anger became to consume him because he couldn't vent it out anymore. He sharpened his nails into claws and started to become more feral. Mers often look more human than fish but Whirl dove into his animal side and never truly recovered.
He joined the wreckers so he could destroy the people who destroyed him. However he was too violent even for them and he almost lost his sanity.
He has a strong hate for Megatron and the war. It took eveything from him. It made him this. The Lost Light Pod found him and although very redundant he did eventually join them. A small cuddlefish (Tailgate) making him feel at home and an octomer (Cyclonus) making him remember why he held on so long in the first place.
His hands can never be fixed but at the facility his claws are taken good care of and his eye wound and scars are properly medicated. He slowly with the help of his new pod (and gasp friends) learns to do art again, albeit in a different way. His work becomes quit famous and he's proud of how people oggle at it.
He loves shiny things. Hoardes them and steals from others. Shiny and pretty things. No one knows why. No one asks.
Whirls afraid to really show himself in the aquarium part of the facility so he sticks to the back. In private tanks and pools where he can be left alone.
Whirl from afar or hidden enjoys watching the kids at the facility. He likes scaring the scientists but he can never bring himself to scare the kids. He watches wishing he could tell them war stories and see their faces light up the same way Kup or anyone else can.
Some day he'll be less ashamed and more confident. He may be loud but he knows how he looks how people feel about him. But your slowly changing his mind. With how often you say you like his marking and scars. When you trace his shell his heart flutters. Maybe soon he'll feel he deserves nice things.

He's a tubby little guy with a big personality. Wasn't very active in the war and is glad it's over. Talks a mile a minute and loves puns. Whenever he can he throws in jokes and tries to make people laugh. (With him not at him, he hates when people laugh to be mean)
Skids is his best friend but he had a couple others and gains a lot once he joins the Lost Light. He has some mental issues from being alone so long during the war but he feels better about himself over time thanks to his friends in the Lost Light.
This mer is obsessed with humans. Before the Facility was made he wasn't supposed to interact with them but he didn't care. He collects anything he can and tries to meet nice people on the beach. He gets really excited when humans give him pets and attention or want to swim with him. He knows he's not as pretty as most mers so he'll take whatever attention is given to him. Swerve will also trade shells, sea glass, and other things he finds in the sea in exchange for human things. He has a secret cave where he hoardes his human stash.
When the facility first opened he was one of the first Mers to join and was very excited to be working with humans. He had so mnay questions!!! Swerve may joke around but he's very smart and when he could he'd help out at the facility in whatever way was needed.
He comes up with fun dances to do for guests and loves to entertain. GETS SUPER EXCITED when kids are around!!! Will talk to kids all day and answer all their questions. The only time he's every silent is when a kids gushing to him about their fascination with mers or marine life.
He owns a bar and sells drinks at the Mer Facility. He uses seaweed, coral, and different underwater plants to make the drinks cool colors and flavors for his guests. Gets really excited to make new drinks and often has his friends try them and tell him how they think it tastes.
Has karaoke every Friday at his bar and it's a huge hit at the facility and on their YouTube channel.
Very friendly mer. Just wants love and attention. Likes to dance for guests or friends and is shy about it but will sing if asked.
A hc to help you feel better~ Reader is presented a shell and they say it's very pretty, and suddenly the mer that showed them won't stop gifting the reader that type of shell.
