The Elwins cover Adele’s Hello.
I’m currently loving this Tora Remix of Hein Cooper’s The Art of Escape. It’s just one of those songs that you can zone out to and fall in love with.
I love it when the Arkells cover music. Their latest cover is of Tobias Jesso Jr.’s Can’t Stop Thinking About You. It’s really fantastic.
Common Deer released a video for their song Feather and Bone yesterday. They’re a Toronto band that has lots of musical training. Most of their songs have a cello and violin in them which makes me love them even more.
I think that Forces by Japanese Wallpaper would be the perfect background music during a tv show like Covert Affairs during a super dramatic slow motion scene. I can already picture this music playing while someone is running to go save someone’s life before they die but they arrive too late and then there’s a huge emotional crying scene and then suddenly the screen goes black and it’s the end of the episode and you have to wait until next week to see if the person is alive. Meanwhile you have the song and the moment stuck in your head haunting you for a week while you’re waiting to see what is going to happen.
I think I am in love with this video and it’s not just because I can see the singer’s socks.
Elliot Root performs Chemical Sweat.
I’m sure you’ve heard by now but Beirut has a new album that he is working on. Just listening to his single No No No takes me back and reminds me of so many Beirut classics like Postcards from Italy.
Scott Helman seriously intrigues me. I like his music and it amazes me that he wrote most of it when he was 15. But what intrigues me is that he tries to act like he’s an adult when you read any of his interviews. I just get this unjustified feeling that he’s going to crash and burn as he grows up and gets some real life experience. But that’s just me being cynical. I think his music is great though!
Here’s Sweater.
I’ve been listening to Will Joseph Cook for a while now but I just thought to look him up on youtube. I am in awe, he does the impossible and makes Daisy Chains sound even better live.
If you need even more convincing then I recommend you check out his Rooftop Sessions videos.
Everytime I listen to Running With The Wolves by AURORA all I can think of is all of all of the other famous wolf songs.
Just to name a few:
TV on the Radio’s Wolf Like Me
Shakira’s She Wolf
Bon Iver’s The Wolves
Ben Howard’s The Wolves
And the list goes on and on. Hopefully the next time you listen to Running with the Wolves you join me in my misery and start listing off as many wolf songs as you can possibly think of.
Also, wolf is one of those english words that is just weird when you think about it.
The music video for Deadwater by Wet is all about change and letting go and then reflecting on that loss. The song is more directed towards a relationship but I think the video does a really good job at keeping things a lot broader so that each viewer can depict a different story that relates to them.
According to tumblr halfbaked turns three today! What better way to celebrate than to post some awesome music? Osca's Blood has been circling the internet for a while but they finally released a recorded version. While I could post that, I obviously chose to use this Mahogany session instead. Give it a listen, I'm going to go indulge in some undeserved cake!
My favourite part of this song is the incredibly catchy chorus - you’ll be singing it after listening to it just once (trust me). Also, he refers to himself as Willy B, which I think it fantastic. Here’s On My Mind by William Bolton.
Fort Lean’s New Hobbies is probably going to be my summer soundtrack. Everytime I listen to this song I wonder why I don’t have more cool hobbies! I could take up things like firepit building, crocheting...
I always love it when one of Cosmo Sheldrake’s songs starts playing when I have my music on shuffle. It’s so different and I love it. It always makes me wonder how he comes up with what he wants to sound like.
Here is Pelicans We.
It’s been so long since we’ve posted on the blog that we now don’t know how to post music. We can’t seem to upload music anymore because all of our music has been detected for being copy written and we can’t get sound cloud to start playing for us. So it looks like we’re just going to wing it and hope we’re posting the right song.
Anyways, we’ve finished university and suddenly we’ve gotten a bit more time on our hands so we may as well occasionally post some music that we’re currently listening to.
This track has been really hyped up on the radio lately but we can’t seem to get the song out of our head so we figured that meant it was good enough to post. Here was written by Alessia Cara the day after she went to a party and while there, realized how much she hated it, along with every other party she had ever gone to. She dedicates this song to all of the antisocial, awkward, and miserable party-goers of the world. Hope that makes you feel better as you’re scrolling through tumblr on a Friday night!
I'm currently drowning in papers but James Blake's cover of A Case Of You randomly came on while I was listening to my iTunes and studying. This song made me suddenly remember that I did at one point actually listen to good music and post it onto this blog.
So here you go. I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I did.
If I survive all of my paper writing I promise to come back to you…sometime within the next decade.
