Yellow had argued that it was a NEEDLESS formality but she couldn’t be more wrong, they needed to know how it had happened, not a single Gem had seen the Quartz approach and considering how secure she was supposed to be, it simply didn’t make sense. – If she could make sense of it then perhaps she’d FINALLY be able to let go, no longer would she feel as though there was something she could have done.

She had little care for the Human the Quartz was USING but clearly Grey didn’t share the same sentiment. Blue would never understand why anyone cared for the Humans so very much but it didn’t matter either way.

“That does not bode well for the human…” He mused. “But it is a very small price to pay for justice for m-our beloved Pink. There are always more humans, they reproduce so rapidly.”

Despite the grim circumstances, he had to admit it was nice to share space with the other Diamond. With resolution on the table, it was almost as if Homeworld had forgotten about shattering his failure of a gem too. If he ever got to Homeworld, he’d be the Offest of Off Colors. Not that he would know. But it did bring to mind…

"An organic? Like a human?" The bloodlust in his face faded a bit at that, but the anger remained. Of course, of COURSE the irreverent Rose Quartz would use one of Pink's precious pets as a meatshield, and cloaking device. He felt it almost a sleight against him, though they'd never met, given he'd sworn to himself he'd never harm one of Pink's humans.

His lips curled in a sneer as he leaned on his cane. "How. Dare. She."

And then. "Will the human be....salvagable?"

Grey would have loved to give his companion a full standing ovation, but that would bring the ceiling of the grotto they called home crashing down. "Bravo, bravo. That was beautiful, Misty. The humans, for as primitive as they are, have a wondrous sense of music~ Especially Backstreet Boys. A fine bard. I would like to see her someday." Misty blushed blue at her Diamond's praise. A gigantic beast!  Larger than any Gem monster she had seen on earth. Probably larger than anything others had fought so far. At least.. Alone. Their giant fusion, Alexandrite, could probably handle a fight this large but any one of them alone?

… This did not bode well.

“I have no superiors! I cut all ties to Homeworld and my former Diamond!” Her body was fighting the fearful trembling but her voice was proud.

“That’s right! I’m a Peridot. I’m an Earth Peridot!”

“But you are so small! Did this planets gravity compress your lightform too much, Earth Peridot?” He leaned down to squint at Peridot, his face mostly humanoid, though the veil covered the other half she could make out sharp, pointed shapes behind the simulated fabric. His movements displayed more of his uniform and insignia- a Diamond insignia. But not pink, blue, yellow, or even white! Gray. Unmistakably gray.  He put his weight on his right arm, which was covered in sharp, spiny grayblue crystal formations, right down to the clawed tips of his fingers. There was Corruption here- and yet the monster spoke so eloquently...but slowly, as if trying to remember the right words took a lot of effort. “Earth HAS a Diamond...you merely changed allegiances. Thank you for your support.”

“Cr-creature?!” Grey growled as he sat himself up, swiping a huge crystal-clawed hand at the tiny Gem, but half-heartedly. “Is that how you address your superior, little Peridot?” What Peridot had thought was the whole creature was just the Diamond’s head, but upon sitting up, he revealed himself to be much MUCH larger. Not as huge as Yellow, but certainly big enough to crush her underfoot if he was so inclined to.  “You ARE a Peridot, correct?”
