“Oh, the place is cosy as a common room. That’s why we snuck out to drink in the Room of Requirement, kangaroo,” he sighed and rolled his eyes, his little nickname for her spilling over his lips.
They found a table quick enough, and he held up a hand to order, his eyes idly flicking through the crowd.
“So, which were the cute guys you mentioned?”
It made him smile, the way she spoke. He knew why she did it, but that didn’t mean he didn’t appreciate the effort. Placing a kiss in her red curls, he straightened his spine, clearing his throat.
“Well, I suppose some pleasures have to make way in the benefit of others,” he agreed slowly. “Even if that means coping with the rain water they call firewhiskey over there.
“Everyone is being so boring. What is the best place to grab a drink around here? And I mean a drink that actually does something. Preferably some dancing, too.”
“Why is the sky blue, the grass green,” Hal drawled as he slid into the row behind her. She recognised him from the Ministry, as anyone working there would; Yaxley’s assistant, former Slytherin. “It’s a festival day, it’s bound to be busy on those.”

“Interest in girls, or interest in you?” he hummed leaning back in his chair. “But no, I am fairly sure he’d have fallen for my charms if he was in any way interesting to those of the male variety - I mean, I am quite the specimen.”
That made him chuckle. “Are you referring to your family name?”
Send me "Engage!" and I'll generate a number and make a starter with that sentence.

"I have a demanding employer," he smiled softly before stretching himself out in the chair. "And this is public property, so I didn't feel like I needed an invitation."
He did see much. Way too much. He hardly ever slept.
Fact was that he knew she was Order, but she did not know he was, too, and it was in both their interests to maintain that idea.
So being a bitch it was.

halgrimfell:
“Among the Slytherins, at least,” he held his chin up, “since I doubt they would take something as precarious from a Gryffindor. There’s just too many prejudices involved, you know?”
He tutted, smiling at her.
“You’d be surprised, but I am just preparing for my day out in the streets. I do know you have a suite upstairs used by a couple. The bed is awfully squeaky.”
“Far too many, but still valid.” She gave herself a small laugh with the words, he was right. If she’d sold to him, she probably would alter it.
“I didn’t think misinformation is your style. Not my room, I paid for it for some friends of mine. They’re a bit strapped for cash and I felt happy to provide them. I live waay outside of here.” She flashed him a charming smile. “I’m glad they had fun, though I’m terribly sorry they were so loud. Fuck like rabbits, those two do.”
"And who might they be? Are they into third parties?" he quipped, downing the last bit of firewhiskey before sliding into one of the chairs. Therewas a soft, eternal flush on his cheeks, the tell tale sign of an alcoholic.
"It takes more than fucking to keep me awake at night."

“I don’t do humiliating sexual encounters, I am way too skilled,” he gave a smile that was sharp as a razor. “But I was the main supplier of unsanctioned love potions out and about.”
He saw it slide over her face. The recognition. He swirled the contents of his glass and then looked up.
“Because if you’re drinking, people suppose that’s all you’re foccussed on.”

“Ouch, and here I thought I was special to him,” he pouted rather impressively before turning back to Lily.
“Hal,” he said, before making a mock-bow, just a small one. “Hal Grimfell. I was a year or two above you at Hogwarts, if you must know. Also, your deduction is wrong, the drinking is a very, very elementary part of my job, you wish to know why?”
That last comment, that seemed to sting. There was a flash of.. something on his face, but it was gone before Lily could truly place it.

“What, please tell me, would it explain?” he seemed amused and tapped his fingers to the counter. “And I had, because you were right. I may not be into charming you, but it is rude to steal another person’s drink, even if you are desperate for one, which I am, well, always.”

“Not personally, no, and he, for the life of him, wouldn’t know me,” he gave a small smile, “but like I said, I am terrible at charming ladies - a handsome man, however, I hardly ever forget.”
He threw some cash on the counter before grabbing two more bottles, setting one in front of her. “There you go.”

“I am terrible at charming ladies,” he gave a smile that was almost daring, “but I’ll buy you another one to make up for my rude behaviour.”
There was a quick, almost predatory glint to his eyes. “Ah, Ted Tonks.”

“Oh, I won,” he quipped, followed by a soft hum and a lowering of his voice, “do you know he has a trail of freckles that runs from the nape of his hair all the way down his side?”
“Working? And why does Lily Evans assume that I am not, in fact, working?’
