Hereâs whatâs happening in Australia at the moment.
For some context: Mallacoota is a tourist town, usual population is a little over 1000, but at peak tourist times, it can be as high as 8000. There was an estimated 4000 there today, when the extreme heat, peaking at 49C/120F, combined with high winds, to spark a large, intense fire in the bushland around the area. This pretty much blocked off all ways out of the town, leading to all 4000 people being evacuated to the beach, with the emergency plan basically being âIf the fire comes this way, get in the waterâ Thankfully, the wind did change direction, and as far as Iâve heard, most of the town was spared, but this is how bad the drought, heat, and fire situations have become in australia. And our government still refuses to make solid policies on climate change.

Thousands of protestors singing âDo You Hear The People Singâ in a Hong Kong international airport. This is part of a 3-day sit-in and is only one example of the many marches, rallies, and sit-ins that are occurring daily.
The people of Hong Kong are fighting. Please do not let their voices go unheard around the world.

Just in case someone wonders what theyâre protesting against.
This is happening RIGHT NOW in Hong Kong. It is August, 2019, and they are fighting for their freedom being taken away from the totalitarian government of China.

Just letting you know that that post about the Amazon strike that links to a WaPo article is about last year's strike!
Oop thank you, I didnât catch that!
heres how itâs gonna go down
amazon: if our workers unionize iâm going to be fucking pissed we have to do everything in our power to disenfranchise them
amazon warehouse workers: we organized a labor strike
everyone: cool weâll boycott using amazon in a way that impacts yall in order to support you warehouse workers in any way we can
media: wow look at how much stuff amazon owns you should boycott all of this stuff otherwise youâre fake woke and donât care about amazon workers
everyone: how can i boycott all of amazon that doesnt make sense they own everything uhg⊠am i a bad person because i canât boycott everything?
amazon: yes yes, yes yes! weâve turned this into a question of whether or not boycotts are effective!!!! ignore the workers donât look at the workers forget about the workers!!!
everyone: so you mean our boycott did do something?
amazon, in a fake nice voice: oh of course, weâre just so sad about this boycott that we decided to make amazon prime free for a month because weâre so very sad about making you all sad uwu
media: boycotts work!Â
amazon warehouse workers: did yall forget about us and what this was about or?
media: the amazon boycott did it again!
this is why you canât allow them to take the narrative from the workers. we need all eyes on them. we need to make this about the workers. it is about the workers. it was always about the workers. anything youâre doing right now to help is in relationship TO THE WORKERS.
Also, itâs helpful to bombard Amazon on twitter and other places to tell them SPECIFICALLY that you are watching what happens to the workers, why you are boycotting, why you support their rights. Look at what warehouse workers are demanding and tell Amazong specifically that you support those demands or Amazon gets no money- not this day or any other until they change.
keep your narrative centered on the workers. be loud about your support of amazon warehouse workers. donât forget who this is about.Â
haha I really desperately hope yâall decide on a single imperfect candidate this time around instead of being stupid eight years in a row and letting donald trump win again. cus yâall are already kinda pushing it on the âbut this candidate did x!â shit and believing every tumblr post you read without any critical thought whatsoever!
seriously!! do not ever, ever, EVER under ANY circumstances get all your political information solely from this fucking website. it's no different from any other social media site in that it's completely rampant with disinformation.
if you see someone posting facts/information about a candidate, make sure to actually click on the sources they provide - are they up to date? are they from a reliable site? did the op misread the original article, or water down its contents for the sake of their post?
if the op DOESN'T provide sources, do your own research and see if you can get some context and detail on the topic before blindly believing it. a lot of people on here like to sensationalize things, or post incorrect/dramatized/outdated information just so they can feel superior and Woke (tm).
do your own research, read sources, do not ever take a tumblr post at face value. every candidate is going to be flawed, but you should be able to decide for yourself whose benefits/skills outweigh those flaws.
