To elaborate, this is about the idea that Shepard is the bottle and the scars are the cracks formed by past trauma and repressed emotions. I am floating the idea that Shepard's scars forming are not due to positive or negative emotions/attitudes, but rather a visualization of bottling up and hiding your feelings for the sake of "Being fine" and "Having more important things to deal with"; it's like blowing up a balloon until it pops

In other words, jfc is there a real therapist on this ship that Shepard can talk to (the answer is no it seems)

Lmao at this part of a mass effect video by pongsifu on YouTube because every version of Saren making this journey in my head is hilarious. I'm envisioning

a) him seeing the Mako barrel in from the sky like a giant metal brick and he just closes the door and books it like he's running a marathon, all his geth henchman struggling to keep up being like "what's going on boss" in beep boop dome to dome geth language

b) they also have a mako. A public coin operated mako like they considerately had ready for us on Noveria and Feros (assuming). This is on Ilos for... for... Prothean reasons. It was Protheans 🤷

c) THE BEST and most canon-observing version: He Went On His Hoverboard, leaving everyone else behind.

So picture this. Saren hoverboarding down the path lined with cryo chambers. He's got some earbuds in. His fringe is flowing in the breeze. Maybe, if he's got good enough balance (which he probably does because he can shoot while he's on that thing), he's eating some turian fish jerky he took along for the road. He's thinking, aw yeah, it's all coming together. My dastardly plans. Feeling humidified, bird-bathed, basked maybe, and way out of his lane. I kinda wanna draw it.

Addendum to possibility c: a few Geth bodyguards also have hoverboards to keep up. He made them get them because he just thought they were all that.

Masterlist of Mass Effect transcripts (trilogy, MEA)

Today is a good day to start this masterlist of Mass Effect Lore transcripts! A new transcript is available: Garrus' Normandy conversations in ME2 (romance scenes included).

I made some changes to include all romance scenes for Ash, Kaidan and Liara in their Normandy conversations transcripts for ME1. I also completely changed the structure of the Citadel transcripts. Before, they were all put together and linked to Expose Saren. Now you can check one specific file to see Citadel assignments and another file to check the chatter, squadmate comments and other conversations happening in different Citadel locations.

As I state in the intro of each of those transcripts, they're a work in progress. And a labor of love! I'm doing my best. They're not perfect, I'm constantly working on them to add more dialogue options or scenes. If you see a mistake, don't hesitate to send me a message so I can improve them :)

I’m deep into lore research so I go back and forth between multiple sources and checking Annihilation just now I read THIS sentence again:

and I have to stop my lore article because I’m reminded that Senna is such a lonely character from the beginning and everything that happens in the book takes things and people from him. 

In a few days Senna loses:

So in Mass Effect 3, if you save both the geth and the quarians, you hear that the Geth are uploading themselves into the suits of the quarians to help speed up their immune systems so they can eventually live without suits on Rannoch. It is an example of symbiosis. We see a more advanced form of symbiosis with Ryder and SAM, the former gaining increased power, while the latter learns via an organic host.

The angara, as we know, were created by the Jardaan. And as we explore remnant sites, I am struck by how similar it is to what we saw with geth starships and bases. The remnant ruins were not made for organics. My current theory is the Jardaan were a race of synthetics who were looking to create organic hosts/platforms to achieve true synthesis between synthetic and organic life.

Whoever deployed the Scourge was an enemy of the Jardaan, perhaps a culture who hated synthetics, or were perhaps their own creators, like the quarians and the geth.

The fact that the angara can interface with the remnant is proof to me that they were made with the remtech in mind, but because they lack an AI/synthetic companion, they can't fully control it. Ryder is human but can't control remtech fully without SAM, and attempts to do so are extremely painful.

But we'll never truly know because we're never getting a sequel. I will never stop being mad about that

Okay, I followed through and spent a couple hours throwing together a font from these alien characters from the Mass Effect game assets. @crapeaucrapeau @omegastation

Like OP, I disagree that's it's a Quarian alphabet because you'll see these characters everywhere, including on the Citadel and Illium. I named it Trade Script after of the universal trade language that's mentioned in the codex.

I kept the letter designations the same and didn't redraw the characters. All I did was upscale them, sharpen them, and resize them to work as a font. This doesn't have anything beyond basic numbers and English letters, i.e. no punctuation. If I ever want them to be really crisp and pretty I might redraw and vectorize them in the future… but that's a lot of work, so probably not. If someone else wants to do that, they certainly can!

I keep thinking about what Jehi and Reye are doing in the canon timeline, mainly if they stayed in the Milky Way or left for Andromeda.

Because Reye did start as a 'sad there's no quarians in mea so let's make one' type of character, and Jehi would've loved the idea of seeing a completely new world (and having like 600 years to try and bolster the quarian's immune systems like the Krogan tried to do the genophage). That's her type of crazy shot in the dark. She'd loved it.

Except Reye definitely has evolved since that original thought and he does not like being in space or on ships. Six hundred years sleeping on an Arc is basically his definition of Hell. But he's an idealistic romantic too and see new worlds would intrigue him as much the thought of being stuck on a ship for centuries terrifies him.

He normally knocks his ass out when he travels in the Milky Way, so is cryo that much different? Yes, but how different? He never does long journeys and to a whole new galaxy is objectively a long journey...

And Jehi would never leave her child behind. He grew up out of the Fleet because of her own loneliness and she would never sentence him to that same loneliness either. But still, god. She'd long to join and help out so much.
