A short film - THE THING Quarterly - Issue 25 - Brian Roettinger
A short film on the making of Reproductions THE THING Quarterly Issue 25.
+ Introduction by Aaron Rose + 412 pages + 6.5 x 9 in. + Soft cover, smyth sewn
Brian Roettinger’s issue 25 for THE THING Quarterly is a 412 page catalogue raisonné that collects, documents, and indexes the majority of his design work produced to date. The works, which are reproduced in black and white from photo copies, are not presented chronologically, nor is it clear, upon first inspection, which project is which: an early version is shown, sometimes just a sketch, and in some cases, the final printer proofs. Unlike a traditional monograph, Roettinger’s re-imagined interpretation is a testament to the process itself, and underscores the duality of his approach, which is both visibly chaotic and meticulously organized.

Brian Roettinger sits Down with PORT Magazine about Hedi Slimane Collaboration
Artist Brian Roettinger recently sat down with PORT Magazine’s very own David Hellqvist about his collaborative piece, the show ticket for Saint Laurent Paris’ Autumn/Winter 2013 show, with Hedi Slimane. Before Hedi presented his collection last month, he set out this booklet that just had page after page filled with these interesting prints. The prints added another artistic aspect to the collection, and the artist himself speaks with David about being commissioned by Hedi Slimane to create pieces (the ones you see here) for the book, as well as the similarities between his paintings and Hedi’s black and white photography. Read the full story here, as well as take a look at the prints, they’re beautiful.
