“I’ve heard things.” Bradley’s eyes tracked over him, no humor alight in the brown he’d missed so much. “They would’ve had you marry Bella— it’s what they always planned for you. I was only supposed to be your Familiar, I—”
“Shh, it’s you.” Jake tucked his hand into the back of his pants, not squeezing, simply pressing into the meat of his ass in a wide claim. “It’ll always be you.”
Bradley didn’t appear appeased. Jake offered a little smile and said, “You were the first thing she asked me about, actually. I talked about you all the time as a child. I knew you’d be coming one day. Hated that you didn’t know it, too.”
Those eyes tracked over him once more, but this time, a spark churned in them. With a smirk, he teased, “Did you think I wouldn’t wait for you?”
Jake shook his head. “Knew you would. You’re mine.”
I worked on broadcaster a bit! connected the opening scene hehe
The door opened again, revealing the same harried PA, clipboard in hand, talking into an earset, “I’ve got him.” He let go of the button, looking at Bradley. “Tina is going to kill you if you don’t get mic’ed.”
Bradley shot the PA a thumbs-up, then returned his attention to Jake. “I really should go. She will actually probably murder me live on air. Good ratings, you know?” He took the script from his hand and grabbed a pen from the nearby table. When he returned it, ten digits stared up from the page.
“So you have it,” Bradley dropped the pen back into the container, taking a few steps backward. He easily dodged someone carrying several microphones, skirting around them like it was second nature, because it was. They were on his turf, now. And the challenge in his gaze said he was just waiting to see if Jake had anything worthwhile to give here. “See you around, partner.”
