No, the problem ain't being a jiang cheng stan, the problem is you pretending he didn't do the things he did and making him into a character he is not.
"Oh if I was jc, I would been worse" that either tells me you don't understand what he does or you endorse what he does, which is wen remnants GENOCIDE you fucking idiots! Not just that, it's him been a elitist classist asshole, selfish, abusive and homophobic too.
Yall need to see your faves for the loser assholes they are, or just stop stanning characters who are losers assholes if you're gonna makes them into something else anyways...
" I like the character because they are complex!" and the "complex" is being an asshole cuz for you good and kind characters can't be complex, they have to be "morally grey" smh. And then you're gonna act like this "complex" character is actually kind and we are the ones who don't understand them. Yall are insufferable people fr.

I hate the narrative that Jiang Cheng sacrificed his golden core for Wei Wuxian. He didn’t.
Jiang Cheng tried to distract the soldiers so WWX could escape. He didn’t think about the consequences, and he never offered his core.
Wei Wuxian did.
WWX walked to the forest knowing exactly what he was going to do. He lay there for hours while his core was removed with no pain relief, knowing he would never be whole again. He endured years of scrutiny from the cultivation world, letting them paint him as a villain to protect Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng made a split-second decision hoping he could escape. He couldn’t, and he lost his core.
Wei Wuxian willingly gave his up. He arranged the extraction himself. And immediately after, he was thrown into the Burial Mounds, where he had to learn to live without a core in the darkest pits of hell.
He never truly recovered. He came back a dead man
i returned babel … i’ll come back to it but it’s just a very hefty book for what i’m in the mood to read rn and im also trying to read something else alongside it . just stressing myself out for no reason 😭
i finished two more books this weekend 😛 they were pretty good !! 3.5 and 4 stars to them 🙂↕️ i wish i could hand out 5 stars but honestly it’s only going to be 5 stars if they live in my head rent free which. they aren’t so :// whatever we move ! now im reading babel by r.f. kuang and when they burned the butterfly by wen-yi lee im hoping to finish both in like 2 and half weeks since they’re library books and thats when they’re due 😭

What are your thoughts on MTXT not really including or diving deeper into Sizhui's reaction towards the Lan participating in the genocide of the Wens? It's kinda surprising he still lives there post canon. How is there no resentment, anger or sorrow on his end that he was raised by such people?
Given that the story is about letting go of resentment and not continuing the cycle of hate, the one who raised him being Lan Wangji, and the one who’s there to teach him his heritage being Wen Ning, I think Lan Sizhui’s attitude makes sense. His allegiance to the Lan already feels vastly overblown by fandom, but neither is his relationship to the clan unchanged. The moment he rediscovers his memories, he rushes to find wangxian, abandoning Lan Qiren. After this, he directly leaves with Wen Ning to set up a memorial for their fallen clan. When he comes back, he still regularly visits and nighthunts with Wen Ning despite the threat of punishment from his seniors.
There’s a chance he may make more permanent choices in the future regarding the acknowledgment of his heritage, but at the end of the story (nor during any part of it), I don’t think he viewed the Lan as a monolith that he had to completely reject in order to be true to his slain family. Did the Lan send a group to the Burial Mounds to participate in the siege? Yes. Did every Lan participate or condone the siege? Obviously not. In fact, the Lan who saved his life and raised him stood up for him, his relatives, and his guardian when no one else would. The only connection these two groups have is that they’re all still part of the same clan with a common ancestor.
Actually, revisiting this because I reread the Wen Ning-Lan Wangji post-ancestral hall convo and want to emphasize this point with actual text:
Lan WangJi, “You did not tell him.” Wen Ning, “You mean his background? No, I didn’t.” He turned around with his back facing the two, speaking as he rowed the ferry diligently, “He’s doing very well right now. If he knew too much or remembered things that are too heavy... he wouldn’t be doing as well as he is right now.”
—Chapt. 89: Loyalty, exr
Wen Ning is reluctant to tell Lan Sizhui about his past and heritage as Wen Yuan because he doesn't want to shatter the peacefulness of the boy's current life with the bombshell of him being the only survivor of a clan massacre that most of the elder generation that he looks up to and possibly even respects actively participated in and/or condoned. He doesn't want to burden the child with the hatred and grief that such a reveal might bring. Wen Ning has seen firsthand what that kind of information can do to lesser people, and he does not wish it on his last living kin.
But that's the beauty of just how well and how loved Lan Sizhui was raised. The truth doesn't break him. It doesn't make him resentful. It doesn't kill his open heart. Lan Sizhui gets his memories back and the first thing he does is run to tell Wei Wuxian, hugging both he and Lan Wangji in tears. The second thing he does is travel with Wen Ning to Qishan to bury the ashes of their kin and build a cenotaph for Wen Qing. Lan Sizhui says, himself, that his feelings upon regaining his childhood memories were a mix of joy and frustration that he found difficult to describe, but because he was raised surrounded by love, his priority became honoring his slain family and rekindling his relationship with the people who knew them before the massacre. His response to realizing his true identity isn't "mild" because he feels no resentment, anger, or sorrow. It's well-adjusted because every single adult in his life who had a hand in raising him loved him so much that that is what he chooses to move into the future with.
He doesn't fall to resentment because his status as a sole survivor isn't a testament of the evils of the world but of the goodness of it. Had Wei Wuxian not rescued his family from the labor camp, had his kin not hidden him in a tree, had Lan Wangji not found and brought him back to the Cloud Recesses, had wangxian and Wen Ning not gone to the Burial Mounds to rescue him despite knowing it was a trap... had Wen Yuan not been so unconditionally loved and protected all his life, there’d be no Lan Sizhui at all.
Since we all love Lan Wangji as a character and husband (that's my son right there, I don't care, I already adopted him away from Lan Qiren, sorry old man) I came here with :
Loverboy Wei Wuxian propaganda✨
Wei Wuxian was the one that was for me, the first to be the most romantic, he just loves Lan Wangji so much there's so many moments, I specially love that moment where drunk Lan Wangji was in the bathtub and Wei Wuxian thought it was a pity not to have petals to adorne the water, thus the setting would be more appropriate in the face of the beauty on the water.....omg this guy really thinks Lan Wangji should be adored with flowers, because he looks like an inmortal, also how he just showers Lan Wangji with compliments ALL THE TIME? Those scenes where he just looks at Lan Wangji and he can't help the smile on his face ...I was always like, bro your gay is showing don't be so obvious. Also if you talk good things about Lan zhan, you have a good eye! Wei Wuxian approves! If you talk bad about Lan zhan, Wei Wuxian could just think you're an idiot and antagonize you at best (Su She) and beat your ass at worst (Jiang Cheng). Lan zhan could be sitting there and Wei Wuxian it's just going on full monologue about how good Lan zhan looks in this light, he could see something that reminds him of Lan zhan and think "How can someone so boring make me so happy?" And he doesn't even think he's boring! On the Lotus seeds extra he wanted to talk about how funny he is! But someone didn't let him, ugh.
I laughed with delight at that moment when Wei Wuxian just tells Lan Wangji "you're such a good person" , that's just sweet, also the way he tries so understand Lan Wangji and do the right thing when he is upset, if Lan Wangji feels bad or cries Wei Wuxian already feels bad too and doesn't know what to do :(
Honorable mention to his clingy ass because he's so touchy I love him, I always found iconic how he tills ,grabs or scratches Lan Wangji's chin, but when Lan Wangji is the one leaning on him and touching him casually Wei Wuxian needs a moment ,please tell him being gay has a cure, he's not going to survive 😞 (Lan zhan sat a little too close) ,he touches his waist, his face, puts a hand over his shoulders, rests his head on his legs. And the moment where he took Lan Wangji's hand when he talked to Jiang Cheng, that really hit me, because he needed the support.
And last but no least! He just can't with Lan Wangji getting dirty, when they were on the boat with Wen Ning, he needed to vomit the retained blood, but he swallowed the blood again because he didn't want to stain Lan Zhan's clothes any more....even if Lan Wangji was always on his side, he didn't want to ruin his reputation, he never wanted him to be in that kind of situation, covered with blood, stained, he doesn't deserve that. But then the confession happened and he touched Lan Wangji's cheek with his hand covered in blood, that left a bloody mark on the impeccable Hanguang-jun who couldn't care less and offered to catch him with open arms.....or maybe it's just my aroace brain finding blood romantic, but anyway, ohhhh you wanna re-read mdzs so baaad /jk (I could love to read your traslation on the future, don't feel pressure!)
Honestly, adding onto the scenes you mentioned, one particularly tender moment that stood out to me was during the second siege when Lan Wangji cuts his hand to redo the array that Su She broke, and then Wei Wuxian cleans the cut and bandages it with cloth cut from his own robes. (And then Lan Wangji promptly uses his fingers to deflect a sword aimed at Wei Wuxian’s back while Wei Wuxian doesn’t even flinch.)
i have something to say
Wei Wuxian in his second life: I never would have thought that Jiang Cheng and I would be standing on opposite sides while Lan Zhan stands by me unconditionally. Funny how life works.
Wei Wuxian at 16: Jiang Cheng, you are so miserable, unpleasant to be around, and unwilling to even try to be nice to others. You’re gonna end up alone and it’s gonna be your fault. Unrelatedly, I really wish Lan Zhan was here…
