I’m not Jewish, but maybe my favorite thing in any religion is the Jewish principle of “pikuach nefesh” which basically means that preserving human life/lives overrides every other rule. And this is from Judaism, a religion that has a 3,000+ year love affair with rules. But none of those rules – even rules that are central to the Jewish community – are more important to the community than human life.
