Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on hereâ- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! No, no, I absolutely LOVE the fact that when you show even the slightest hint of feeling bad for a character in outlast (mostly the prime assets) ((or even outside of the fandom frankly)) without saying something about how much you hate their actions, you're suddenly defending them and everything terrible they did. Nooo, I love the fact that people might forget that people can feel two completely different emotions that are on completely different ends of the emotion spectrum about these characters.
I can feel both bad for these characters and what happened to them + what's happening with them in the facility due to Murkoff, and also feel absolute hatred and disgust towards both their actions and the people they are now. That's what makes these little emotions (and also the characters in a way) so complex and beautiful to me. You can feel one emotion more than the other or show one of them more than the other and that's fine, you can do that all you want, but don't forget. To accept these two emotions coexisting in you for these characters, is to accept the fact that they were both a victim and a perpetrator of many different things that happened. One thing doesn't erase the other in these characters.
