You know what really bothers me? The whole dumb code where if you a black person friends with white people , youâre suddenly not âblackâ or you turned âwhiteâ, because you chose to dress properly, speak properly, or want good career for your life. I just read an article where apparently blacks assume that those black people who are friends with blacks lack empathy for blacks friends with whites. This is because theyâre breaking the âblack codeâ where you apparently turning on your blacks for being friends with white, and acting as if your plotting to take down blacks.
That is stupid and ignorant. I chose to be friends with them because I see personality, not colour, in fact iâm willing to be friends with any race besides my own because I want to learn about other people other than my own. Itâs not that I donât like my black, I love my people, I just hate the pride and arrogance that we have sometimes that could spilt us up.
I want to take down the stupid myth that we created among ourselves. First off, a black person who choses to be friends with whites DOES NOT mean they will automatically become less black, they still are apart of us, our history, our heritage, everything about us that we hold dear. They just wanted to be friends with them because they have a nice personality, or in fact, it could be fate, maybe they were made to befriend them to open their eyes. To every black person who was made an outcast for befriending a white friend, you will forever still black, you will not become less black because you friends with whites. You donât become less black because you chose not sag your pants, listen hip-hop/RnB/Rap music, or not from the ghetto. If you want to speak proper, you chose to be mature, if you dress properly, you want to be more mature, and if you want a good career, it just means you want a good life for yourself.
I use to think like this, and I am pretty guilty of it, but now Iâm in college, I learned that you are who you are no matter who your friends with. So blacks who are friends with whites, youâre still black, itâs not fading from anytime soon because your friends with white people . And those who out casting blacks because theyâre friends with whites, stop, theyâre not backstabbing your people, they chose to be friends with people outside their race because they want to open their minds. Also, you canât determine whatâs black, and whatâs not. They will always be black despite of what they do, or who they know.
