So I’m thinking about what projects to try in 2020.  The above is an old post from the great blog Needle N’Thread.  The idea behind it is using a drawing from Johanna Basford’s Secret Garden coloring book.  I was in the bookstore yesterday and just happened to run across a Cornell University coloring book for Birds of Paradise and the idea hit me to try one of those in a similar type of project.  It’s a great idea for those of us, like me, who are lousy at drawing freehand.  You just trace the design you like with tissue paper, mount it on any material you want, straight stitch or split stitch the outline, tear away the tissue paper, then fill it all in with the colors of your choice.
