I dont think I can ever fully comprehend how terrifying Trench Foot was for the soldiers serving in ww1. yk that post that like "If trench warfare were made-up, it would be the most on-the-nose anti-war satire ever created" like that. you're in these god fucking awful conditions and one of the main diseases because of it (that killed hundreds of thousands of men) is your body physically decomposing and rotting. how could you convince yourself that you're still alive and that this isnt a ring of hell? how could you see your friends rot in front of you and somehow think this isnt punishment for sin? you have to cut off your feet to stop it spreading from the rest of your body and this is called surviving.

Using ‘Mr.’ : Basic. Generic. Clunky, adds so many periods my dialogue (and dialogue tags) look like they’re stuttering. Might as well be a business card.

Using ‘Mister’ : Beautiful. One of a kind. Removes unnecessary periods, cleans up my paragraphs, cleared my pores, kissed my forehead, wrote my entire novel pretty much. Who else did this? Shakespeare, probably.

when writing non-white characters, what is something that you would love to see portrayed (more of or generally) in these characters? what representation do you want to see more of in fiction, or something that you never see but wish it was?

I see a lot about what to stray away from--and trust me I will be researching what not to do and go ahead and rant about the shit you hate in fiction I'm reading every word of everyone's suggestions-- but I cant find anyone talking about what they want to see in fiction more when it comes to representation
