It’s the sea that greets you
When you first open your eyes
The swells of glittering sand
All that exists on the earth
You stand on your tip toes
And try to see what lies beyond
At the horizon you see the place
Where it holds the face of the earth
Where it kisses the worlds open mouth
Stretching its hands to where you are
And caresses your cheeks with its
Yet you feel some comfort in the path
The few grave markers of those
Sing you stories of lives
You will never understand
Towards the only place that exists
Finding missing pieces of yourself
When you made this forgotten
So you call out hoping someone
But if you listen hard enough
Over dunes of desolate earth
Before growing from the sand itself
Surround you in decaying architecture
If you hide in the shadows
Won’t try and take from you
The only thing that is yours
With their breath on your heels
And their eyes on your soul
The weight of ice on your clothes
But your voice has grown small
You collapse amongst the stone markers
Thinking that at least you won’t
Something grabs you, drags you
Someone pulls you to your feet
And suddenly your strength is tenfold
Pulled from the last breathes
And monsters can’t touch you
The sun touches you from the place it exists
You taste it on your skin
And kisses your open mouth
You are shooting like a star
That it will tell you what it was all for
Your feet barely touch earth
Holding its face in your palms
And kissing its blistering skin
And you two embrace like lost lovers
Having reached each other

Here is another poem guys, another assignment poem too that was also turned in as part of my final project, but I had a lot of fun with this one. In Microsoft Word, this poem reaches 2 and a half pages. The original was about 3 and a quarter pages, but the teacher helped me cut out some verses and rearrange things.
The assignment was to write a poem about a journey.
And of course the first thing I thought of was the ps3 game by Thatgamecompany, Journey. If you've played it you know that it is a visually beautiful game, and the emotions it evokes as you play is amazing and I know I couldn't possibly capture that feeling in this poem but I wanted to try. Because it was long and some verses didn't sound very good we cut the poem down, so it doesn't completely follow the game, but when I first wrote it I covered every major "level" (for lack of a better word) that you went through in the game.
I had a lot of fun trying to write this and I hope everyone enjoys reading this. Have a great day everyone!
