A man with bright hair smiled at me, comfortingly rubbing my shoulders. “It’s okay. You’re okay. What’s wrong?”

I looked at him. One of his eyes was covered by an eyepatch, surrounded by a large, bloody scar that covered half of his face. He had several holes in his face on the scarred side, including his mouth having a large vertical slit spanning from his nose to his chin. I feel bad to say that I jumped in surprise when I saw him. The other eye was as bright and colourful as his hair. Have I met him before? Why couldn’t I remember his name?

He pulled my hands out of my hair, with an expression that said he was used to accidentally scaring people. “Take your time. What’s wrong, Kiyoshi?”

“I— I… don’t r— remember…” I said shakily, wiping tears from my face. “K— Kenji told m— me… some— thing and I… don’t r— remember!”

The man nodded. “That’s okay. You told us all you can’t help it, right?”

I stared at him, nodding. “I— Still…”

“Is there something else you can’t remember?”

“…Your… n— name. I don’t know… your name.”

The man laughed. “Haruto. My name is Haruto Hyuga.”
