Some dude once told me that “Finnick Odair is a great character because of how he grows as a person throughout the series” and I just- THATS SO WRONG. Sorry. Finnicks morals do not change from when we meet him to the end. Our perception of him is what changes. He was NEVER this playboy, lover of the capital that Katniss and therefore we are introduced to him as. That is the role he was forced to play. That is how he ensured the safety of his girl, his mentor and his family. His preformance was survival. I love Finnick so much this will not be my last post about him.

I have never been so confronted with nostalgia then seeing the Nico and Bianca casting. Nico was one of my faves and so important to me growing up and they both look so little and innocent. I remember being the same age as those characters and I’m just… not anymore? It’s strange but I guess we all grow., I guess we all cry about it.

Ok but like Superman having good rep for punk people that, while brief, shows the ideals of punk culture being rooted in standing up for people being persecuted and fighting against the authorities that attack them was not something I was expecting but I’m genuinely so happy about it. Punk people and ideals have been treated like a joke by a lot of mainstream media, but to have a highly successful movie accurately capture it means so much to me. Especially coming from Lois Lane.

I have a bad sunburn on my back from falling asleep in the sun. It’s a you can see where my swimsuit was tied, couldn’t touch the backs of chairs and now it’s itchy kind of sunburn. It’s nostalgic and really lovely actually. A sweet, if a bit painful, reminder that I can still fall asleep in the sun. I love it.

Putting shopping carts back. Telling food service workers “no rush!”. Telling someone when something reminds you of them. Sunlight. Helping not because you “owe it” to someone but just because. Never holding back compliments. Saying hi to dogs. Solidarity. Smiles, ones without perfect teeth. Buying someone’s food. Listening. Being alive, really.

Characters that die before the og story starts break my heart. They’re delt a tragic ending and a violent life so the heros can save the day in the sun. Cassian Andor will never get to be Luke Skywalker and that is just the way of the world. 😭
