the reason these exist (iirc) is because peppa pig is banned in china for “promoting gangster attitudes”: peppa was popular (for whatever reason) with “shehuiren” (anti-establishment internet users), who made a lot of memes involving peppa and even got tattoos of her because it’s funny. the result of banning peppa is that shehuiren-types liked peppa even more afterwards, and now she’s a bit of a counterculture symbol in china. hence these shirts.

Chongqing Hotpot (火锅英雄). dir. Yang Qing. 2016.

Written and directed by Yang Qing, Chongqing Hotpot, lit. Hotpot Hero is a 2016 Chinese caper screwball comedy film starring Chen Kun, Bai Baihe, Qin Hao and Yu Entai. The film follows three old classmates who open a Chongqing hotpot restaurant in a former bomb shelter. Suffering through financial and social struggle, they soon discover that the restaurant is linked to the neighbouring bank vault through a single wall. As they contemplate whether to report it to the police or take the easy money, they encounter a former classmate who is unsatisfied with her mundane job at that bank. The four friends begin to plot an elaborate bank robbing scheme.

I found a great website to practice for the HSK tests, it has HSK 1-6 and focuses on character recognition, hearing the words and choosing the right answer and choosing the right pinyin. There is also some other games, check it out here.
