I have never read the Locked Tomb series either but it's on my dash a lot, so I have started the #locked tomb fandom fandom to gawk at their goings-on. You are cordially invited! The rules for a fandom fandom (according to me) are:
1) You may not ever interact with the source material.
2) You may not Google anything about the source material. You can make an exception for a cursory search for their actor, if it's a TV show.
3) You may interact with as much fan material as you like, but
4) you must immediately stop reading the fan material if you sense you are about to gain too much Context.
A good candidate for a #fandom fandom is a franchise that feels ubiquitous on Tumblr, with tons of focus on fan-favourite characters you darkly suspect are probably not nearly so featured in the actual source material. It helps enormously if characters get killed off regularly and occasionally also get brought back to life with great ceremony. For example, I'm proud to report that I had no idea the protagonist in Teen Wolf was supposed to be Scott, nor do I have any idea which, if any, of the teen wolves is actually still alive by the end of the series. They are each, to me, a unique and beautiful Schrodinger's Wolf. Anyone who attempts to collapse the waveform on me will be caught and shot.
It's an enormously fun recreational experience and I was so excited to see this blog living my joy.
