TRUTH: It is really easy to say no - especially to yourself.
Have you ever wanted to apply for a job that you would really like, but didn't because you figured you weren't qualified enough?
Have you ever been asked to sing karaoke with some friends but didn't because you were too shy?
I could go on and on forever with these questions. We as humans give up on opportunities so often because we don't feel like we are good enough. In a world full of qualifications and prerequisites, it can be a very scary and off-putting experience to do just about anything.
TRUTH: Most of the time, your #1 critic is yourself.
If you write down every reason you don't do something, most of the time you will realize that you are only criticizing yourself. You haven't even given yourself the chance for someone else to criticize you.
"The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." - Nelson Mandela
TRUTH: It is impossible to fail, because every good or bad experience is growth.
Look at each experience you could have in life as a great possibility. Go ask that guy or girl that you like out on a date. Apply for a job you're not qualified for. Sing a song you don't know at karaoke.
Why? Because why not?
Every single thing you do, you can do in confidence and your light will shine. Even if you mess up a few notes in a song, if you do it with confidence, most people won't even realize and you will find it a lot easier to do it again and again. Don't get the job interview or get the interview and don't get the job...who cares? You? Remember it wasn't a fail, but a growth. You now know what you can do better next time, and if an employer doesn't hire you don't forget to ask why. Know what you need to improve on.
We are our own worst enemy, and if we can overcome that, we can do just about anything. Face your fears today, and start saying yes to more. Because....why not?
