âThat is absolutely false,â Tony said, but he couldnât keep a straight face for long. Sighing, he shrugged and said, âYeah, okay, maybe Iâd bang him if I was given the chance. You canât tell me the whole elastic thing doesnât intrigue you too!â If there was someone on this earth who knew more about Tonyâs strange attractions than anyone else, it would be Clint (or Pepper. Pepper knew everything, to her benefit or distress). âTo be honest, Iâve never really paid attention to the vibes coming off Doom when heâs trying to murder people. Maybe I should watch the tapes back again. You free tonight? We could order in.â Pizza and a takeaway in one day was something his cardiologist would not appreciate, but it was good for the heart in a metaphorical sense. âToo late. Itâs not even the worst thing weâve talked about.â That went to some frankly disturbing conversations about Doc Ock. âIâm kicking him because he made me work up a sweat fighting sonic quacks!â What a dick, really.
The cops appeared before long, and Tony stepped forward, feeling significantly like how moms were depicted in sitcoms. âHey there, Officer. As you can see, we have this completely settled, and Duck Man is out of commission from this point on.â The cop, though, didnât look entirely grateful. He walked past Tony and leaned down beside the Duck, his eyebrows furrowed. âHey, man, you okay?â he asked. âNo!â Duck Dude argued. âThese two whackjobs just attacked me for no reason! All I was doing was cosplaying!â
Tony let out a splutter, lifting up the mask to look at the cop. âAre you serious?â Tony asked, gesturing to the man. âHe came at us with sonic quacks! He tried to blow us up with rubber duck bombs!â The cop and the Duck looked at Tony with expressions of total and utter disgust. âI canât believe a superhero would lie about me, brother,â the Duck muttered, under his breath but loud enough for Tony to hear.
Tony stepped back, holding up his hands. âHold up a second,â he said, tilting his head to the side. âBrother?â
Clint leveled Tony with a look and, unsurprisingly, it only took like two seconds for the guy to break. Granted, that was probably less to do with Clintâs look and more to do with Tony having absolutely no sense of privacy, but Clint was gonna let himself feel accomplished regardless. âI mean, I wouldnât be against it, but thereâd probably be a little too much science talk for me. That guy strikes me as the type to talk about chemicals in bed. Total turn off.â It would probably be a turn on for Tony, which was a fact that Clint hated that he knew. âDude, Iâm always on the look out for vibes. I mean, I guess we canât all be as observant as me, though.â His whole deal was seeing everything that was going on in any given situation, after all!Â
Shrugging a shoulder, he replied, âYeah, okay, Iâm in.â It wasnât like he had anything better to do, and watching Doomâs drama with Tony was bound to be hilarious. âI know. I hate that!â Theyâd definitely talked about worse, mostly because Clint didnât know how to shut his mouth. âYou could use the exercise, man. I didnât wanna say anything, but youâre lookinâ a little round there...â That was, unfortunately, a total lie. Tony always looked pretty good. It wasnât right! The guy was a billionaire, the least he could do was be a little chubby or something.
Most of the time when the cops showed up, Clint responded by getting the hell out of dodge. It was nothing personal, but heâd had a few less than great experiences with police officers, even after heâd tacked âAvengerâ to the end of his name. Today, he stayed put against his better judgement. Surely the cops wouldnât arrest Iron Man, even if they didnât recognize his buddy as Hawkeye. He rolled his eyes as Trevor went all âinnocent victim,â huffing lightly. âDude, that is not a good look on you,â he commented.
But then, of course, things got complicated. Clint shouldâve seen it coming, really. Why wouldnât the cop who arrived at the scene be the brother of the villain theyâd just taken down? Why had Clint let himself believe his luck would ever allow for anything else? Eyebrows shooting up, he turned to look at Tony. âUh, I donât wanna assume anything here, but I think this is the part where we high tail it outta here. You wanna split?â
