I think im the only one who’s genuinely excited to see the tokyo ghoul anime lol, i thought the first 2 seasons were fine, i always treated them as their own thing you know cause if you start comparing each and every little ( and big, i know i know they messed alotta shit up) detail you’ll hate it lol, my advice is just enjoy it for what it is, enjoy that your seeing your favorite characters animated and voiced

Besides we got 2 amazing songs and one very emotional scene outta that anime so im a bit biased towards it to be honest (glassy sky and unravel are life) (that hide scene always gets me)

I should mention that tg was the first anime i ever watched so it has a special place in my heart

The importance of the Daruma in :re and ch. 143

I want to go into more detail about the Daruma reference this chapter and what this could mean in regards to Kaneki. (I originally wrote this for reddit, but I wanted to share this here as well.)

For those who don’t know what Daruma dolls are, they are Japanese traditional dolls bought for good luck. They look like this, with a bearded face, blank eyes, and a weighted spherical base with no limbs.

Daruma dolls are bought from Buddhist temples as good luck charms for the New Year, and essentially act as a New Year resolution in physical form. Basically how they work is that someone paints in one eye, and then they make a wish or a goal for the year that they want to attain. When the wish or goal is attained, the other eye is then painted in. At the end of the year, the dolls are brought back to the temple and are burned in a ceremony, and new dolls are bought for the year. (sources: 1/2)

The Daruma doll is an important symbol in Tokyo Ghoul.

Kaneki during the cochlea arc: *regenerates about thirty sets of limbs over five minutes* || Kaneki now: "dismembered and left alone for a few minutes? Guess I'll die."

Well the major difference is that in Cochlea Kaneki kinda maxed out use of Kagune. Remember from Nishiki’s and Kaneki’s conversation half Ghoulz who were made only have a set amount of times to regrow rc cells which are needed to heal. This fact was what was making Kaneki age quickly. The only way to slow this down is to canabalize which Kaneki will probs do with the convient snack talking smack in front of him that just pissed Kaneki off.

Touka’s arm blocking the knife to protect her stomach is one of the most heartbreaking things i’ve ever seen. The look on her face is just pure despair, she’s trying so hard to not get stabbed in her stomach…
