Evie stared at the scrawled names across a piece of paper she’d folded and unfolded so many times it’d started to tear at the creases, making it more tempting to just rip into shreds. Worn and fading from being shoved back in a pocket before pulled out seconds later to stare at it an umpteenth in question. Could she really do this. Though it was really less that question, because she’d hurt people before and it’d been breathtakingly easy, and more could she stop before it got there. Could she keep herself intact under the new scrutiny she was under. Just the thought of it let her feel the burn of his eyes and his-..A final time she crammed the paper into her coat before marching across a street, focusing on one name.
Holt Vance
When you were a part of the supernatural community, that word felt too warm and fuzzy for what really lurked in this town, it was surprisingly easy to find others in it. She also had few people giving her connections. Not wanting to confront one of the humans, they felt too delicate to her, Evie caught a slight break in learning of a werewolf that was willingly giving them information. Not a lot but still too much. She hoped just talking with him could end that, threatening was suppose be an option but she wasn’t manipulative, she had no practice or real skill in guiding people to do what she wanted. Instead she banked everything on talking with him. Just spelling out how deadly of an idea this was for him, for all of them, before it got out of hand. Taking the day off she wandered to places suggested he might be, peeking into the gym for a moment, checking at most of the diners or bars for a sign before she circled around the campus for a while. That’s where her lucked kicked in. Perhaps because she looked young herself when she asked around for Holt several students were helpful to direct her to his classes and even pointed to the exact person. She waited, trying to rehearse something what she’d say or how she’d try appealing to him when the bell rang, students filed out and in her haste to catch him she bumped into Holt. Sending her stumbling back and grasping herself together while stumbling out a,”H-Hi. Are you Holt? Holt Vance?”
Holt could easily be described with just two words: noble, and dumb. He would do just about anything to maintain peace in West Hollow, and was willing to expose the darker sides of the supernaturals to do so. He never saw harm in this or Mystery Inc. They were just kids wanting to learn the truth. Why keep them from that? If anything, Holt saw their supernatural cover-ups as total bullshit. They saw every slip up as survival of the fittest in this town.
His Psych class had just let out when he had accidentally bumped into the poor woman. Holt raised a brow, skeptical of her as soon as a whiff of her scent told him that she was a demon. As much as he tried to maintain the peace in WH, he knew they were bad news. "Y-yeah," he stuttered as he adjusted the grip on his backpack strap. "Who are you, and how do you know me?"
