jaeyi thinks she was born hungry— and if you get hungry enough, they say, you start eating your own heart. her mom sells gimbap every morning, and her dad's a construction worker. she tries to listen to the lessons they teach her: love's really what's important in their house. but sometimes, jaeyi wants to sacrifice it. it's selfish. she wants to know how it feels to be revered by the other kids, to not be looked at twice for the shabby clothes or the schoolbags that are never new. when jaeyi turns 14, she tells them that she wants to be an idol. they end up selling their bungalow and the three of them move into a condo just so they can afford to send her to an idol academy. they gave up everything for her future, truly. she only feels guilt when she's older. what if this doesn't work out? see, that's not even an option in jaeyi's head. all of that had to be for something. she doesn't care if she gets called desperate or self-centered. she works twice as hard, she is good, and it's evident in the way her body aches after the five training days. as for personality, she's someone who's very laidback on the surface but thinks very intensely about everything under it. it's really contradictory, how she acts vs how she feels. jaeyi's also really kind despite how unconventional she seems, and her blunt way of speaking might make her seem otherwise. if you have a good heart, she’ll want good things for you. that being said she’s incredibly standoffish & won’t be very vocal about this rip :') to really see her, you really have to read between the lines. while jaeyi's incredibly focused on herself as a trainee, she also always keeps in mind that these are the people she might encounter for the next long years of her life. she's incredibly disciplined, it's probably what jumps out about her first, and doesn't take manners lightly D: debut goals: along the lines of meovv / le sserafim regarding her performance style, i think this quote from black swan sums it up pretty nicely: “in four years, every time you dance, i see you obsess over getting each move exactly right, but i never see you lose yourself.” i feel like she has a lot of tenacity, but jaeyi’s a little scared of making a fool of herself on stage and it’s never with a lot of passion.
