If Three’s a Crowd, Seven’s the Glastonbury Bloody Festival

Set several months after Zurich, the gang meets up again with the express purpose of meeting Douglas' parents (Robert Hiller and Dorothy McNab from the show Two's Company).

Douglas is not happy with this turn of events, though it begins pleasantly enough. As the evening continues, amidst the clashing of personalities and intermittent teasing at his expense, Douglas fights to avoid his insecurities and dissatisfaction with his life situation bubbling to the surface and ruining the event for everybody.

So remember how I said I just got back into Bleak Expectations? Well, here is one the fruits of my labour post-expectations re-listen. I’m working on a poster that’s pretty exciting as well.

im like 999% done with these stereotypical movies about aliens coming to kill humanity like where’s my movie where we’re being completely overrun by aliens, only to be saved by another race of aliens that’ve been trying to stop this other race’s merciless colonialism for years and has decided to help Earth and protect it

where’s my schisms within the society of the alien society; where’s my rogue alien soldiers that are fine with everything until they see a human child or a human parent die to protect their young; where’s my alien invasion stopped by a battalion of their own species that’s turned against their home planet

where’s the movies where groups of humans form their cults around and side with the aliens to help end the world; the world has never come completely together before, why would they now? give me countries siding with the aliens in return for the promised safety of their people; the officials being forced to decide between Earth and their People; do they trust the words of these Aliens, or do they take their chances with war?

heck where’s my movies about Humans being ruthlessly colonial; movies where we go to another planet and bring back prisoners; movies where humans are forced to decide whether or not aliens have rights; movies where humans are divided on the attitude towards alien civilizations; do humans have the right to colonize other planets and slaughter other races of intelligent life

ship with:  no-one, I can’t do it. I can’t saddle anyone with the force of nature that is Stephen Caudwell.  

general opinions: He is disgusting, a truly disgusting man. He is also, however, hilarious. I can’t even explain my feelings towards stephen caudwell because whenever i’m watching i’m torn between laughing my ass off and shouting into the void about what an asshole he is. He’s so gross and awful to his coworkers and everyone around him but then there’s that episode where he’s so bored, where he’s just bored with his life and he’s moping about his apartment and you kind of get the idea that maybe he’s a sad, lonely man that can’t create lasting relationships and you start to feel bad for him but then he goes and openS his mouth and the worst, most disgusting drivel comes out and its like wtf i trusted you for like a second and now your being perverted again. 

but also its kind of amazing to seen tony being that level of perverted terribleness and not to mention this:

ship with: oh man, the girl who he’s super into and pretending to be all country with and is like in a love rivalry with that other guy for, but also i ship him and that guy as well, and kinda him and his nice blonde assistant as well, also me, I would take him in a second 

general opinions: He is the biggest dork in the fucking world. I can’t even think about the dorkiest thing he’s done, because there’s that scene where he rolls up in the car and then gets out and sprays himself down with water to look like he’s been jogging, or in the same scene where he’s trying to be all macho and disinterested about his heart attack or whatever but he’s so desperate for the lady to think he’s cool that he basically trails in her footsteps all over the farm saying do you like me yet? and then there’s that shooting competition that he gets into and is super competitive about and its so dumb but its also super hot, and the entirety of the party where you first see him is just a giant darkest with the swinging the staff and swooshing the sword and flirting with everyone in sight and grinning over the pool table with his champagne. And my god he’s a morning person too isn’t he, isn't that just the worst. But yeah he’s also got this huge heart too that doesn’t often make it to the surface and that wonderful glimpse we get into him when he sets up that whole tent for the date real nice and in like a kind of ducky down to earth way that she would like and then she doesn’t show up and he’s devastated and then pretends like he doesn’t even care afterwards and its like, someone please protect this precious man’s feelings, he lives a lone in the country in scotland because eh worked so hard he didn’t have time for a family and then stress blew up his heart and then he tried to open himself to romance and then got stuck down so hard and my god my god he’s so lovely.

Also there’s the fact that he went to whatsisname’s signing in as Laird or whatever and was wearing a kilt an everything but they hadn’t really made up at that point and he’s literally spent the last few weeks trying to split up the laird and his girlfriend and then was invited to this super special meeting, what’s that about huh? he’s just too damn ingratiating and likeable i say.

ship with: ok so i really don’t like Nigel Haver’s character, i can’t stand terry at all and it pains me to no end that he is the character that the show mostly focalises through but oh my god do i ship james and terry. like wow. That episode where they’re living together is amazing, its one of my favourites (also because Angle Coulby is there but that’s not the point) because they’re such  odd couple and my god sometimes its just like get a room you two

general opinions: James is the sweetest little man, I mean he’s done some super questionable things and he’s been a dick to a lot of people (most notably his family) but holy shit if he’s isn’t the sweetest, most insecure, gentle douchebag ever. That episode with the dog where he gets all upset about it being put down, or with the mouse that he wants to hunt but he ends up not being able to do it and that story he tells about the pheasant that he tried to nurse back to health, or that adorable time terry was doing something terrible and needed to invite someone to something and the camera pans over and james is there with a stupid grin and in like these cheesy shirt and shorts at the bar, and not to mention that awful, awful episode where he realises he’s made a huge mistake being a dick and that he’s pushed away the people he cares about because of his insecurities and perhaps ruined his relationship with his children irreperably and then at the end it shows the nursery he had designed and omg if i keep thinking about it i’ll cry but goddamn goddamn i will protect him

general opinions: I was a little surprised to get an ask about phil cause he’s such a minor role and like he’s in, what, four episodes but then i realised he’s my icon so duh, but like he’s the worst. He’s so arrogant and his grin is so cheesy and he’s so entitled and so douchebaggy but also i’m kind into it so watching him on screen is kind of like alternating between hate and lust...also his hair is amazing, and his fashion sense too
