Intro Post!!

Hello it’s @darling-vixen yet again!! This is going to be my Jon RP blog for my friend’s au, London Fog!! I also run @jsims-official and @your-average-tea-enthusiast if you would like to go check those out!! I’m most active on my first Jon blog!! :3

Please use He/Him in rp but I go by any pronouns outside of rp!!

London Fog is currently set at the end of season two going into season three!

(Jon shuts the door to his office and locks it carefully. He sits down at his desk, looking more unkempt than usual. Erik is sitting in the desk across from him.)

Erik. Erik, I think Tim is trying to kill me. No, no I know he is. I found a tape, and- and he described his whole plan. (He’s talking way too fast and tripping over his words.)

[Erik got out of his chair to approach Sims.]

"What? What do you mean? Why would- Why would Mr. Stoker record his own murder plan? Sir, take a second to think this over. What exactly did you hear?"

[Erik didn't suspect anything out of the ordinary. It was essentially routine for Jon to come up with some new "proof" that his coworkers are out to get him.]

(Jon clicked play on the recorder in which he had the tape prepared to show to Erik. While it played—Tim talking to Sasha in a joking manner about framing Martin for murder—Jon looked at Erik with an unreadable expression.)

It’s all here. He- He just- maybe he didn’t notice the recorder was still on, but it’s there.

[With his fingers pressed to the bridge of his nose, Erik sighed.]

"Mr. Sims. That's. That's a joke. They're joking. I-... Gods, how long have you been working yourself up over this?"

[Erik went to grab a throw pillow that he handed to Jon. He could probably use something to squeeze the everloving hell out of right then.]

(Jon accepted the throw pillow, squeezing it in an unsteady rhythm and plucking at the loose threads.)

How do you know for sure? What if they’re not? What if- (He mutters something unintelligible.) It doesn’t matter how long I’ve been “working myself up” if I’m going to be dead!

"It's their tone. If you listen to the rhythm and the notes their words make, you can recognize patterns that indicate different emotions. I've always been more... musically inclined, so I was able to pick it up after studying people for a while. It comes easier to most people."

[Erik pulled a chair out to sit down closer to Jon. He sat in it backwards, with his arms propped on the backrest.]

"I promise you, they're joking. They're laughing and everything."

That-! I-! They-! (Jon stutters for a moment before calming down.) Their tone…? (He thinks back to the tape. They do sound more… rhythmic? Christ.) They have quite a good reason to try… I mean, Sasha is way more qualified than I am.

They’re not completely cleared yet. They’ve still been here long enough to have killed Gertrude. This isn’t enough evidence for me to rule them out.

"I'm sure Ms. James doesn't hold any ill will against you for getting the job. You're her friend. I know she doesn't want to hurt you. Neither does— okay well Stoker might want to slap you around a bit since you've been accusing him of murder and such things, but I don't think he genuinely wants to kill you."

[Erik offered a reassuring smile, at least with his eyes. It would probably be best if Sims didn't get a look at his teeth at the moment.]

[It was at that moment that Tim waltzed through the door without knocking, startling both Jon and Erik when the doorhandle collided with the wall of Jon’s office.]

“Boss, I’ve got the follow-up about that statement you were so worried abou— oh.” [He stopped himself mid sentence as he noticed Erik also in the room, as well as Jon’s excessively disheveled look.] “You’re here too. What? Scheming without me?”

[Tim’s tone had been less jovial ever since the intervention a few weeks ago, but there was a misplaced worry wracking his entire frame, not that Jon could notice in this state.]

(Jon immediately shot Erik a panicked look. Scheming?? He knew Tim couldn’t be written off. Of course. He’s still a suspect. Jon sat up straighter to try and maintain some semblance of sanity.) I- We were just um… discussing some follow up.

You can just put that file on my desk, Tim… (Jon was trying his absolute best not to look to suspicious—or too insane for that matter.)

[Time passed by rather quickly while they dealt with the food situation. Tim had decided to make some rice at least so that they’d have something other to eat than just meat for those who wanted it. It all went smoothly, well… at least until Ethan arrived.]

[The sound of knocking on the door is what disrupted the makeshift peace of the moment. Tim turned his head as he started to move the food off of the stove, but didn’t respond to the sound beyond that.]

[Erik stopped what he was doing immediately. He washed his hands, fixed his hair, and made a beeline for the door.]

"Ethan! So glad you could make it. Come in, come in! Let me introduce you to everyone!"

Ethan looked mildly uncomfortable even before the door swung open. He was groomed nicely, though still wearing simple clothes and with yesterday's makeup smeared on one of his cheeks. He gave Erik an awkward smile, looking a little pained. "Hey- can we. Talk for a minute first?" He asked quietly.

"Oh- uh- okay?" [Erik furrowed his brows in confusion. He analyzed all the facets of Ethan's appearance. Ethan looked like he'd slept over at someone else's...]

[Oh.]

[Oh.]

"Ye- Yeah, I'll... come outside, then."

[Erik stepped out with Ethan, and shut the door behind him.]

Ethan stepped back, hugging himself tightly as he tried to psych himself up. "We need to stop being a thing." He said finally. Great start, idiot. "I'm being hypocritical with my relationships, and it's really unfair to you. And I'm in a cult now, and I just can't keep up with all that crazy stuff going on in your life-" He paused the dump, biting his lip. He was avoiding Erik's gaze, just a little teary eyed. He took a deep breath. "I really like you, but I don't think we can work out. I'm sorry. I- I didn't want this to be over text."

[This was all way too much information for Erik to process at once. He didn't want to think about the first thing Ethan had said right now, so he focused on something else.]

"I— I'm sorry, did you say you're in a cult?? What- What happened, are you okay?"

[mushrooms-called]

"Uhm- yes. Yes, I'm fine, I'm great, there's a a cult of rot in the forest. It's amazing there, and I'm now head of trade since I don't live there, but- that's why we need to stop!" Ethan sounded so deeply ashamed. He couldn't pull his eyes away from his shoes. "I slept with the deity, and with one of the worshippers. But I hold you to really high, unfair standards for the same thing, and that's not okay."

"Yeah, that's-"

[Erik's shoulders dropped. It was all finally registering.]

"...Shit. So this really isn't going to happen, huh?"

[mushrooms-called]

"It could." Ethan said quietly. "But I'd need to work on this, and it won't be worth it for you by the time I'm normal." He said bitterly. "I still like you, and I'll always be a friend to you, but- shit, I treated you so poorly it's okay if you don't want to." He chuckled weakly. "I'm really sorry, Erik."

"Yeah, no, that's..." [Erik nodded, mostly to himself.] "...probably right. I-I don't... I don't blame you or anything. You... I, uh, I think I'm gonna go back inside, now."

[Erik groped behind him for the door handle, and pushed the door open.]

Ethan smiled weakly, shaky and pained. "Yeah. I'll get out of your hair now... you know where to find me, if you'll ever need me." He sighed, his voice sounding a little choked. He left as Erik went back in.

[When Erik came back inside, he leaned back against the door and let out a shaky sigh. He covered his face, so that even if he started crying, no one could see.]

[Before anyone could say anything, he insisted,] "I'm fine. Just... need a minute. Give me a minute."

[Tim did in fact give Erik “a minute”, but once all the food was plated -four plates, as he did not have a good feeling about this-, he made his way back to where Erik and the others were. His expression hardened.]

“What did he do?” [He asked with a growl to his voice, one arm leaning against the wall.] “He’s not here now, so something went down. So?”

[He had an expectant look to his eyes, but something told Erik that he’d back away if shot down.]

"I can't really say he broke up with me, since we were never dating. Apparently he's got this fancy new Corruption cult he joined, and he hooked up with the leader, and this random other guy.

"...He said it wasn't fair to me since he's been making me wait just to hold his hand, which is... fair, I guess. He also said... he couldn't keep up with everything happening in my life. It's too much for him."

[Erik poked at his food with his fork, and sighed.]

"Guess I should have known something like this would happen. Story of my life..."

[Tim bit his lip furiously as he listened to Erik talk. Once he was done, his voice erupted as he roughly put down his utensils.]

“That bitch. What is wrong with him, to show his face now of all times, after you invited him?!” [His anger was palpable, and he stood up abruptly.]

“Did he already leave or can I have a talk with him?”

"No, Tim, don't-"

[Erik grabbed Tim's wrist, holding him in place.] "It's fine. I- I appreciate that he came to tell me in person, instead of over text... I guess..."

[Erik blinked a couple times, fighting back tears that threatened to spill over his cheeks.]

“No, no, we are not doing this. He could’ve visited you literally any time but noooo, instead he decided to wait until you invited him, like a coward.” [Tim sat back down, glancing at Erik’s hand holding his wrist before looking back at his face as he spoke to him.]

“I don’t care if he had monster business to attend to! He was wrong, and that’s that.” [Tim picked back up his utensils and waved them around as he spoke. He wasn’t sure how to deal with Erik tearing up. He was not the right person for comforting, especially since they still weren’t that close.]

"Judging by the look of him I'm pretty sure the sex with that guy just happened. I think he came back from wherever that cult is just to tell me. He came as soon as he could..."

[Erik took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose to keep the tears at bay.]

"It's fine. It's fine. He's just a guy. I'll... get over him."

“You shouldn’t..” [Tim grumbled mainly to himself, but loud enough for everybody to hear due to the otherwise silent room and their close proximity.] “you don’t have to get over anybody just because they’re out of your life.”

[He took a deep breath and exhaled his frustration, mixed with some lingering emotion he couldn’t let go of.]

“Just- I-.” [He glanced down at his food, stiff in his approach.] “Yeah. Whatever situation he was in, it’s better if you cut it off now.” [Lost on what to say, he glanced at Jon or Martin to possibly step in and help him out.]

You’re allowed to not be over it immediately, you know. If that’s what you need then that’s fine but it’s obvious you need some time.

(Jon was not convinced that Erik was “over him”. Honestly, Jon only briefly heard the guy and didn’t get a very good impression but that still doesn’t mean Erik has to be over him.)

"I don't kn- ugh, I just...-" [Erik met Jon's eyes with a look of longing. But he remembered what Martin said about keeping his distance from Jon for a while, so he'd have to look elsewhere for comfort. He glanced at Tim, but immediately thought better of it. That left one option. Erik sighed pitifully.]

"...Martin, would you...? I... I think I just need a hug right now. I'll be fine after, I just... I think, I need a good cry, for a minute, and then- I'll- I'll be back to 'dealing with everything else' mode."

[Martin nodded solemnly.]

"C'mon, let's get up from the table."

[He led Erik into the kitchen for some semblance of privacy, though there wasn't really a wall there. He didn't want to risk Erik associating his own bedroom with any of these feelings, so he didn't take them in there.]

[He held out his arms, and let Erik cry into his shoulder for a good, long while. They talked quietly enough to eachother that the others couldn't overhear, but it was clear by looking that Martin was offering words of reassurance as he stroked Erik's head, and his pinned-down ears.]

[Erik came back into the dining room sniffing and wiping his face, followed by Martin. He forced a weak smile onto his face as he sat down.]

"There we go. I'm better now. Sorry for making a scene at, uh, brunch."

It’s alright. It’s not like it was really your fault… (Jon mumbled the last bit and smiled lightly at Erik.) We all are quite used to “scenes” now anyway, working where we do. (They were only here because of a interdimensional scene so of course this was no big deal.)

[Erik nodded, taking a deep breath.] "Right. Yes. I suppose you're right."

[He turned his head to face Martin again.] "Martin, Tim, this looks delicious, thank you for making it. Now, let's all try to have ourselves a nice, peaceful meal together for once. We could use that."

[Tim and Martin both let him know it was no problem for the food as Erik sat back down at the table. Tim was thoroughly relieved that the tension was less palpable in the room.]

“We definitely need a break from all this monster and reality-hopping garbage. Now sit down and eat for crying out loud, I don’t know when’s the last time any of you had a full real meal.” [His gaze was mainly pointed at Jon and Erik when he said that. The was a certain lightness to his words, but they could never be as cheerful as they’d been just a year ago.]

[Tim wasn’t quite sure how to start a casual conversation, as he realized he didn’t really know all that much about Erik, and he hadn’t normally spoken to Jon or Martin in… too long.]

(Jon looks down at his plate and does not make eye contact with Tim. Honestly, he doesn’t know when he last had a full meal either.) I’m afraid unintentionally reality hopping and meeting versions of your coworkers from different realities doesn’t leave much time for cooking.. (He chuckles lightly and takes a bite of his food. That is really good… He definitely needs to start cooking again.)

[Tim simply grunted and kept eating. This whole… domestic moment reminded him of back in research, before the archives.]

“Well, hopefully it’ll be done with soon. I never thought I’d prefer doing follow up on statements over, well, anything. I’ll gladly take some research after this!”

"No kidding. I'm excited to get back to organizing statements, writing transcripts, and-"

[Erik paused.]

"Oh hey, Martin and I won't be fighting over bringing you your tea anymore, Jon. Especially not this first week. I'll let him handle your care by himself, give him some special time with you. That's how it used to be before I got here, right?"

Um… Yes, I suppose it was.. (Jon’s face is slightly redder than normal. How is Erik being so casual about this? God, he really is a mess…) Honestly, I still can’t believe that you two used to fight over bringing me tea… (Specifically why they were fighting over him was what he was so confused about..)

"Not my fault Martin's jealous of anyone who so much as breathes around you. I simply played along with his little rivalry for fun; I didn't actually care if the two of you got together. Oh, but Martin sure cared..." [Erik teased, casting a glance at Martin.]

"Oh, he was so mean to me, Jon... He bullied me day in and day out. Sabotaged my workload so I'd fall behind... I had no choice but to do the same. It was self-defense!"

[Martin made a face somewhere between a forced smile and a grimace.]

"You little shit... You were just as bad as me! Don't think I forgot about the time you put one of those god-awful cough drops in my tea. You know I hate the taste of those! That was psychological warfare.

"Not to mention, don't think I didn't notice that you suddenly stopped wearing that corset of yours when you came back from the woods. You were making yourself all pretty and fragile-looking on purpose! Before you knew Jon was ace, you were totally trying to seduce him!"

[Erik scoffed, taking offense to that accusation.] "I was not. If I was seducing Jon, you would've been able to fuckin' tell! I didn't take all that training for nothing. All I did was make myself look presentable for work."

[Erik flicked some rice at Martin's arm.]

"Funny that that's where your mind went though, perv. Too busy staring at my waist to handle your caseload, I bet."

[Erik squeaked when Martin flicked some rice right back.] "Hey! We are not having a food fight, I'll have to clean it up! It's my house."

"Nah, I'll clean up my own mess. I'm not a heathen. But, I'd rather not make a mess in the first place. I was just getting you back for that first bit."

[Martin shoveled a bit of rice into his mouth and sighed pleasurably.] "God, I love warm rice..."

"I know, right? It's great. I love flavorless nutrient substances... They're the best for when you're not in the mood for any particular flavor. You can just shove some calories in your mouth and call it good."

[And just like that, as quick as their momentary play-argument had started, they were back to being civil and friendly. They'd probably gotten used to such a routine a long time ago.]

(Sometime between the “sabotage” talk and the “seducing talk”, Jon had almost choked on a bite of his food and had to quickly sip his water as to not die. He was embarrassingly red now.)

(Jon cleared his throat.) Right… Well um- I-… (He really could not get the words out.) Okay then, well, you two are… a lot. Christ, how did I not notice this happening? (He chuckled lightly.)

"That's what I wanna know! I mean, Martin was trying to keep it a secret, but I sure wasn't. I didn't care who saw us fighting. I don't have any shame in that regard. It's actually kind of a shame I never got to watch Martin's dirty little secret get aired out in real time. I bet the look on his face would have been priceless."

[Erik wiped his thumb over his lip to clean it performatively.] "Ah, but I'm obviously glad it didn't work out that way. I may be a monster, but I'm no villain."

(Jon gave Erik a look.) Yes, well, I’m glad you two are going to give it a rest. At least for now… (He looks quickly from Erik to Martin.)

[Martin raised his hands in defense.] "Hey, I'm not gonna start anything. I've got you all to myself now, and I'm going to make sure I enjoy every second of it while it lasts. I want to take you on a date- a normal date, and we can get food, and- and chat, and just have ourselves a lovely time while not being bothered by anyone or anything."

[He glanced back at Erik and Tim.] "Er, no offense. You know what I meant."

[Time passed by rather quickly while they dealt with the food situation. Tim had decided to make some rice at least so that they’d have something other to eat than just meat for those who wanted it. It all went smoothly, well… at least until Ethan arrived.]

[The sound of knocking on the door is what disrupted the makeshift peace of the moment. Tim turned his head as he started to move the food off of the stove, but didn’t respond to the sound beyond that.]

He took a deep breath. "I really like you, but I don't think we can work out. I'm sorry. I- I didn't want this to be over text."

[This was all way too much information for Erik to process at once. He didn't want to think about the first thing Ethan had said right now, so he focused on something else.]

"Uhm- yes. Yes, I'm fine, I'm great, there's a a cult of rot in the forest. It's amazing there, and I'm now head of trade since I don't live there, but- that's why we need to stop!" But I hold you to really high, unfair standards for the same thing, and that's not okay."

[He held out his arms, and let Erik cry into his shoulder for a good, long while. They talked quietly enough to eachother that the others couldn't overhear, but it was clear by looking that Martin was offering words of reassurance as he stroked Erik's head, and his pinned-down ears.]

The was a certain lightness to his words, but they could never be as cheerful as they’d been just a year ago.]

[He held out his arms, and let Erik cry into his shoulder for a good, long while. They talked quietly enough to eachother that the others couldn't overhear, but it was clear by looking that Martin was offering words of reassurance as he stroked Erik's head, and his pinned-down ears.]

“We definitely need a break from all this monster and reality-hopping garbage. Now sit down and eat for crying out loud, I don’t know when’s the last time any of you had a full real meal.” [His gaze was mainly pointed at Jon and Erik when he said that. The was a certain lightness to his words, but they could never be as cheerful as they’d been just a year ago.]

[Tim wasn’t quite sure how to start a casual conversation, as he realized he didn’t really know all that much about Erik, and he hadn’t normally spoken to Jon or Martin in… too long.]

[Time passed by rather quickly while they dealt with the food situation. Tim had decided to make some rice at least so that they’d have something other to eat than just meat for those who wanted it. It all went smoothly, well… at least until Ethan arrived.]

[The sound of knocking on the door is what disrupted the makeshift peace of the moment. Tim turned his head as he started to move the food off of the stove, but didn’t respond to the sound beyond that.]

[Erik stopped what he was doing immediately. He washed his hands, fixed his hair, and made a beeline for the door.]

"Ethan! So glad you could make it. Come in, come in! Let me introduce you to everyone!"

"...Martin, would you...? I... I think I just need a hug right now. I'll be fine after, I just... I think, I need a good cry, for a minute, and then- I'll- I'll be back to 'dealing with everything else' mode."

[He led Erik into the kitchen for some semblance of privacy, though there wasn't really a wall there. He didn't want to risk Erik associating his own bedroom with any of these feelings, so he didn't take them in there.]

[He held out his arms, and let Erik cry into his shoulder for a good, long while. They talked quietly enough to eachother that the others couldn't overhear, but it was clear by looking that Martin was offering words of reassurance as he stroked Erik's head, and his pinned-down ears.]

The was a certain lightness to his words, but they could never be as cheerful as they’d been just a year ago.]

[Time passed by rather quickly while they dealt with the food situation. Tim had decided to make some rice at least so that they’d have something other to eat than just meat for those who wanted it. It all went smoothly, well… at least until Ethan arrived.]

[The sound of knocking on the door is what disrupted the makeshift peace of the moment. Tim turned his head as he started to move the food off of the stove, but didn’t respond to the sound beyond that.]

[Erik stopped what he was doing immediately. He washed his hands, fixed his hair, and made a beeline for the door.]

[Martin nodded solemnly.]

"C'mon, let's get up from the table."

[He led Erik into the kitchen for some semblance of privacy, though there wasn't really a wall there. He didn't want to risk Erik associating his own bedroom with any of these feelings, so he didn't take them in there.]

[He held out his arms, and let Erik cry into his shoulder for a good, long while. They talked quietly enough to eachother that the others couldn't overhear, but it was clear by looking that Martin was offering words of reassurance as he stroked Erik's head, and his pinned-down ears.]

[Erik came back into the dining room sniffing and wiping his face, followed by Martin. He forced a weak smile onto his face as he sat down.]

"There we go. I'm better now. Sorry for making a scene at, uh, brunch."

It’s alright. It’s not like it was really your fault… (Jon mumbled the last bit and smiled lightly at Erik.) We all are quite used to “scenes” now anyway, working where we do. (They were only here because of a interdimensional scene so of course this was no big deal.)

[Time passed by rather quickly while they dealt with the food situation. Tim had decided to make some rice at least so that they’d have something other to eat than just meat for those who wanted it. It all went smoothly, well… at least until Ethan arrived.]

[The sound of knocking on the door is what disrupted the makeshift peace of the moment. Tim turned his head as he started to move the food off of the stove, but didn’t respond to the sound beyond that.]

[Erik stopped what he was doing immediately. He washed his hands, fixed his hair, and made a beeline for the door.]

"Ethan! So glad you could make it. Come in, come in! Let me introduce you to everyone!"

Ethan looked mildly uncomfortable even before the door swung open. He was groomed nicely, though still wearing simple clothes and with yesterday's makeup smeared on one of his cheeks. He gave Erik an awkward smile, looking a little pained. "Hey- can we. Talk for a minute first?" He asked quietly.

"Oh- uh- okay?" [Erik furrowed his brows in confusion. He analyzed all the facets of Ethan's appearance. Ethan looked like he'd slept over at someone else's...]

[Oh.]

[Oh.]

"Ye- Yeah, I'll... come outside, then."

[Erik stepped out with Ethan, and shut the door behind him.]

Ethan stepped back, hugging himself tightly as he tried to psych himself up. "We need to stop being a thing." He said finally. Great start, idiot. "I'm being hypocritical with my relationships, and it's really unfair to you. And I'm in a cult now, and I just can't keep up with all that crazy stuff going on in your life-" He paused the dump, biting his lip. He was avoiding Erik's gaze, just a little teary eyed. He took a deep breath. "I really like you, but I don't think we can work out. I'm sorry. I- I didn't want this to be over text."

[This was all way too much information for Erik to process at once. He didn't want to think about the first thing Ethan had said right now, so he focused on something else.]

"I— I'm sorry, did you say you're in a cult?? What- What happened, are you okay?"

"Uhm- yes. Yes, I'm fine, I'm great, there's a a cult of rot in the forest. It's amazing there, and I'm now head of trade since I don't live there, but- that's why we need to stop!" Ethan sounded so deeply ashamed. He couldn't pull his eyes away from his shoes. "I slept with the deity, and with one of the worshippers. But I hold you to really high, unfair standards for the same thing, and that's not okay."

"Yeah, that's-"

[Erik's shoulders dropped. It was all finally registering.]

"...Shit. So this really isn't going to happen, huh?"

"It could." Ethan said quietly. "But I'd need to work on this, and it won't be worth it for you by the time I'm normal." He said bitterly. "I still like you, and I'll always be a friend to you, but- shit, I treated you so poorly it's okay if you don't want to." He chuckled weakly. "I'm really sorry, Erik."

"Yeah, no, that's..." [Erik nodded, mostly to himself.] "...probably right. I-I don't... I don't blame you or anything. You... I, uh, I think I'm gonna go back inside, now."

[Erik groped behind him for the door handle, and pushed the door open.]

Ethan smiled weakly, shaky and pained. "Yeah. I'll get out of your hair now... you know where to find me, if you'll ever need me." He sighed, his voice sounding a little choked. He left as Erik went back in.

[When Erik came back inside, he leaned back against the door and let out a shaky sigh. He covered his face, so that even if he started crying, no one could see.]

[Before anyone could say anything, he insisted,] "I'm fine. Just... need a minute. Give me a minute."

[Tim did in fact give Erik “a minute”, but once all the food was plated -four plates, as he did not have a good feeling about this-, he made his way back to where Erik and the others were. His expression hardened.]

“What did he do?” [He asked with a growl to his voice, one arm leaning against the wall.] “He’s not here now, so something went down. So?”

[He had an expectant look to his eyes, but something told Erik that he’d back away if shot down.]

"I can't really say he broke up with me, since we were never dating. Apparently he's got this fancy new Corruption cult he joined, and he hooked up with the leader, and this random other guy.

"...He said it wasn't fair to me since he's been making me wait just to hold his hand, which is... fair, I guess. He also said... he couldn't keep up with everything happening in my life. It's too much for him."

[Erik poked at his food with his fork, and sighed.]

"Guess I should have known something like this would happen. Story of my life..."

[Tim bit his lip furiously as he listened to Erik talk. Once he was done, his voice erupted as he roughly put down his utensils.]

“That bitch. What is wrong with him, to show his face now of all times, after you invited him?!” [His anger was palpable, and he stood up abruptly.]

“Did he already leave or can I have a talk with him?”

"No, Tim, don't-"

[Erik grabbed Tim's wrist, holding him in place.] "It's fine. I- I appreciate that he came to tell me in person, instead of over text... I guess..."

[Erik blinked a couple times, fighting back tears that threatened to spill over his cheeks.]

“No, no, we are not doing this. He could’ve visited you literally any time but noooo, instead he decided to wait until you invited him, like a coward.” [Tim sat back down, glancing at Erik’s hand holding his wrist before looking back at his face as he spoke to him.]

“I don’t care if he had monster business to attend to! He was wrong, and that’s that.” [Tim picked back up his utensils and waved them around as he spoke. He wasn’t sure how to deal with Erik tearing up. He was not the right person for comforting, especially since they still weren’t that close.]

"Judging by the look of him I'm pretty sure the sex with that guy just happened. I think he came back from wherever that cult is just to tell me. He came as soon as he could..."

[Erik took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose to keep the tears at bay.]

"It's fine. It's fine. He's just a guy. I'll... get over him."

“You shouldn’t..” [Tim grumbled mainly to himself, but loud enough for everybody to hear due to the otherwise silent room and their close proximity.] “you don’t have to get over anybody just because they’re out of your life.”

[He took a deep breath and exhaled his frustration, mixed with some lingering emotion he couldn’t let go of.]

“Just- I-.” [He glanced down at his food, stiff in his approach.] “Yeah. Whatever situation he was in, it’s better if you cut it off now.” [Lost on what to say, he glanced at Jon or Martin to possibly step in and help him out.]

[Everyone had gathered around in the living/dining room to hear Erik recite his adventures. Once Erik caught everyone up on all the logistics of multiverse travel, and everything that had happened, he added on,] "Oh yeah. And I have cat ears now."

[Erik pulled down his hoodie and two curly-furred maine coon ears popped out.] "One of the anons gave them to me. I dunno how long they'll last, but they're cute, right?"

[Erik stuck his hand under the back of his waistband and yanked out a long, black tail. It curled around his lap, and Erik took to brushing out the fur. He looked half-tempted to lick it neat.]

"I wouldn't mind, y'know, if someone wanted to pet me..." [He mrrped, puffing his chest out.] "We might as well get some use out of these while they're here."

[Tim observed Erik’s new features carefully with a slightly bewildered look on his face.]

“You got gifted these? How does that even-“ [He shook his head and ended up just relenting.] “Y’know what, nevermind, I won’t question it.”

[At Erik’s comment about being pet, Tim crossed his arms and leaned back with a small smirk on his face.]

“You should go for it, Boss”

I-! (Jon huffs, feeling incredibly called out. He very much wanted to but did Tim really have to know that? He wasn’t that obvious… was he? He lets his hand hover over Erik’s head for a moment before actually touching the ears. They were very soft. Hm… He could get used to these.) They’re nice…

[The purring started immediately. Erik wasn't expecting to have such a strong reaction, but he closed his eyes and leaned into the touch.]

[Tim actually let out a tiny chuckle at the purring, looking at Jon and wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.]

"Shut up, Tim, or I'll bite you," [Erik threatened half-heartedly. Then he went back to being a kitty cat.]

[Tim rolled his eyes. Jon was still petting Erik, and the latter was still acting like a kitten. His next response dripped with sarcasm.]

“Uh huh, I feel so threatened by the purring ball of fluff in front of me. What ever shall I do.”

"Really fucking bold for a guy who has no way to defend against three rows of shark teeth, Tim. Just saying."

[Erik nuzzled against Jon's hand with all the confidence of a man who knew Tim had just spent several hours babysitting a version of him who eats people.]

“Yeah yeah, like you’ll actually step away from your personal petting machine to get a nibble out of me.” [With an amused scoff, he flipped one of his hands around in the air.] “What an honour.”

[There was no real tension in the interaction as they threw quips at each other. These past few days had been stressful enough.]

"I don't make empty threats, so I'm just gonna say you technically did 'shut up' by not teasing Jon anymore. I'd rather not bite you."

[After a few seconds of scritches, Erik asked,] "Martin, what's for, uh, breakfast? Can it be something with pork?"

[Martin cringed at the mention of pork. He could probably guess why Erik wanted it, but he wasn't going to make a fuss. Better a piece of pork than Tim.]

"Yeah, I got it. Does that sound good to everyone else? Uh, probably pork chops with whatever sauce I can make out of Erik's stuff. And some greens."

“Sounds good to me.” [Tim shrugged, not caring much for what they ate. Seeing that Jon and Erik were still all over each other, he turned his gaze to Martin.]

“Do you need any help with that, or..?”

"Oh. Uh- yeah, sure. If you want. Ahem," [Martin got up and dusted his hands off on his legs before heading to the kitchen, his movements somewhat stiff and awkward.]

[Tim swiftly got up and followed Martin to the kitchen, acutely aware of his awkwardness, but not quite pinpointing the source.]

“Soo..” [He hummed with a sly smirk once they’d entered the kitchen.] “You want to pet the cat too or..?”

[Martin was somewhat taken aback.]

"What? No! I mean- Well, I suppose I wouldn't be opposed... But that's not- that's not what this is. I, uhm... It's a bit too complicated to explain."

[He took a deep breath, and dug through Erik's cupboard for spices.] "Can you get out the pork? Uh- ...Yeah, no, that should be fine."

[Tim nodded along to his denial of wanting to pet the kitty, or well, the fully grown man with cat features, and went to fetch the pork from the fridge.]

“Mmhm whatever you say.” [He waited for Martin to be done with his digging through the cupboard before handing him the pork.]

“You want to man the kitchen while I sit around and help? I would offer to split the job but knowing you… gotta check.”

"Ah. Um. Maybe? You can..." [He slid the meat back towards Tim.] "Cut things. I'll prepare the sauce. Do you think you can handle cooking it if I get it all seasoned?"

[Tim took the pork handed back to him and placed it on the cutting board to start cutting it into appropriately sized pieces.]

“Hey, I can cook! I cooked for myself and Sasha all the time, mind you!” [He internally winced but kept a smile and a mock-annoyed expression painted into his face.]

[He turned back to cutting up the pork.]

[Martin grabbed a bowl and checked his options. He supposed he could use barbecue sauce as a base and amp it up a little bit with some more flavor? Martin squirted a little bit into the bowl and tasted it, then sniffed a few of the spices one by one and began to create a nice cocktail that would hopefully make the bbq sauce taste less store-bought.]

(Jon was very content to keep indulging in petting Erik’s head and new ears. Curiously, he sctriched behind his ears and was very happy with the purring that resulted.) Cute… (Jon mutters under his breath.)

[After a while, Erik was done being pet. He gently took Jon's hand, lowered it down, and looked into his eyes.]

"...Jon. I... I wanted to talk to you about what happened in Lei- ...where we came from, before ending up in the middle of the street. Do you... remember anything?"

I- Hm. (Jon tries to remember anything about before the busy streets of London. There’s nothing. He even tries to Know but it just makes his head hurt.) I don’t… It’s like- there’s just a blank spot. Do- Do you…?

[Erik shook his head.] "I remember before you got there, but after that... Nothing. Kinda wish I didn't remember. What was I thinking...?"

[Erik let his head fall into his hands.] "Leitner was alive... I- I fell right back into being his pet. He just... dangled some catnip above my head and I took the bait. I believed every word he said."

Oh. Oh, Erik… (Jon gently rested his hand on Erik’s shoulder. He felt weirdly protective. He’s glad Leitner is dead in their reality. How dare he? Manipulative old prick. But that’s not what Erik needed right now.)

I’m so sorry. I wish I could’ve been there to help. It’s not your fault. I don’t know what he said to you but I imagine you thought you were doing something good.

"I... I did. Jon, he... He said he knew how to fix all this. What if he wasn't lying?"

[Erik shook the thought out of his head.] "No. No. Leitner is a liar. He was lying about that too. I... Gods, I'm fucked up. I just wanted to fix things. I didn't want anyone to suffer."

[Tears formed at the corners of Erik's eyes, and he blinked them away. Then, he wiped his eyes.]

"I think you must have said something to me, because I was dead set on following through. I was- I was willing to die for it and everything. So, just... thank you. For whatever you said. I l- I'm... grateful."

I’m one hundred percent sure it’s nothing I wouldn’t do again. You don’t have to thank me for that. I wouldn’t just let you die on me. (Jon opens his arms in question.)

[It didn't take more than a second for Erik to throw himself into Jon's arms. He squeezed tight, and buried his face in Jon's neck.]

[Internally, Erik wondered what made him almost blurt out the words, "I love you." He hadn't meant to say it in the usual platonic sense... Something about whatever they experienced together... it made it so much easier to say. Just what had Jon done for him?]

(Jon tightened his arms around Erik. Somehow, this hug felt different from the other ones they’ve shared before. Why? He couldn’t wrap his head around it. Something big must’ve happened in that other reality. It’s not a bad different, though. Just lighter. More comfortable.)

[Martin set down his bowl with a bit more force than necessary, creating a loud clinking noise against the counter. He'd definitely noticed the weird romantic tension between the two of them since they got back, and Martin was so not jealous. Not one bit.]

[...But Jon was his boyfriend! I mean, come on, it's been less than a day of them being together! The two of them should get some time together before Erik goes and swoops in to join the relationship. And what about sharing his past first??]

(Jon flinches and lets go of Erik suddenly at the sound. He looks over at Martin—who is not doing a great job at concealing his feelings.) Oh um… (Jon sucks in a breath, looking guilty.) Are you finished cooking…?

"Hmph! No. Not even close. It'd be nice if you could wait a little while. It won't be special if it's rushed."

[Martin wasn't even trying to hide it at this point. How could Erik— I mean does he even realize what he's doing, or is he just all over Jon by default?? We seriously need to lay out some boundaries.]

[Tim took a deep breath and placed a hand on Martin’s shoulder. He wasn’t sure if he should interrupt but didn’t want anything to get out of hand.]

“Listen, Martin, how about you give me the rest and I’ll take care of cooking it? You should go have a conversation with them. Preferably without anyone getting harmed in the process?”

[He knew Martin’s jealousy could not be tamed, but he felt the need to try regardless.]

[Martin almost argued, but he instead relented. He pushed the bowl towards Tim and started walking.]

"Yeah, alright."

[Martin sat deliberately between Jon and Erik on the couch. The latter of which who looked incredibly ashamed.]

"We're going to have a talk."

(Jon flinches slightly. Right. This is totally his fault. Dating for a day and he’s already fucked it up.) Okay… I-… (He clears his throat.) Alright.

[With a deep breath, Martin started.]

"Now I don't mind if the two of you..." [He made a vague gesture.] "-but that will have to wait. Jon and I, we just started dating. I want at least a week of no funny business between you two. No... cuddling, no running off in the woods together, and definitely no goo-goo eyes. Can I trust the two of you to behave like responsible adults until I'm comfortable with my boyfriend snuggling up to some other guy?" [Martin looked into Jon's eyes and squeezed his hand, pouring out desperation into the hold.]

(Jon nodded.) Yes, of course I’m- God, I’m sorry, Martin. (He squeezed Martin’s hand back.) You can trust us. (Jon glanced to Erik, hoping he’d get the message.)

[Erik nodded, though it was clear he wasn't entirely focused on the conversation.] "Right, yeah, that's fine. A week is barely anything. You two enjoy the honeymoon phase. In fact, I can probably use that time to go deal with other things. Like- Like my own guy. Not really... boyfriend, but. Y'know. Haven't seen him in a while."

[Martin stiffened at the mention of Ethan.]

"Right! He doesn't know that you're back yet. I warned him about the alternate version of you. Also, I was supposed to invite him over to meet Jon, I believe. Uh- should I just invite him to join us, have him meet everyone? And then, uh..."

[Martin cleared his throat and whispered,] "Erik, you don't mind if Jon and I slip away from the group at some point and spend some time in your room? We already, sort of, used your bed as a seat while we kissed... a lot. I can do your dishes for you?"

((Erik: Just putting my response here since I already switched in and it's one word.))

"Deal."

(There was still an odd feeling at the mention of Erik’s boyfriend? not boyfriend? Whatever. It was not jealousy. Totally not jealousy. Jon heard the two of them whispering, only catching bits and pieces of their conversation.) Right… Um, that’s sorted, I guess?

[Erik nodded.] "Yep. Have fun, you two! Or, have fun when Martin inevitably drags you away."

[Erik stood up, but not before giving Jon a teasing flick on the nose.] "You have permission to use anything in my room."

[Erik left to go help Tim in the kitchen. Ah yes, the two most culinarily unrefined members of the group are handling the cooking.]

(Jon turns a lovely shade of red at that comment.) Oh I um-! (He clears his throat.) Right… (Jon sneaks a glance at Martin.) Now what…?

"Now, I'll invite my not-boyfriend over. Everyone be nice and do not tell him how much I'm pathetic about him."

[Erik pulled out his phone and began to type out a message.]

"Hey... Ethan... I heard... About the... Other me... I am- no- I'm back now, if you want to... Come over, and... meet... everyone. Send."

Ookay… (Jon sighed.) Well. (He squeezes Martin’s hand when he remembers their still holding hands.) I’m excited to meet him… I guess?

"He's great. Probably gonna crack open the windows though so no one gets spored. And if he's gonna eat here, I should probably arrange a way to make sure his spit doesn't end up on anything. I'll probably give him disposable silverware... Just to be safe."

[Erik set his phone on the counter and got out a definitely "complimentary" plastic silverware set encased in a wrapper. He set that aside before moving to help Tim with the cooking.]

[Tim had already started cooking the pork when Erik arrived to help, but he let him take a spot next to him in the kitchen regardless.]

“Now, know that I did not eavesdrop on most of your conversation, but, we’re having a guest over?” [He questioned, checking in on the food as it cooked.]

“I didn’t exactly plan for a fifth person but we could always make more.” [Tim said as he gestured towards the fridge where more pork sat. He’d managed to catch the words “spored” and some talk about safety, so he had a feeling he wouldn’t like this guest very much.]

"Yeah, he's my friend who I've gone on a few dates with but am apparently not dating. I'm still into him, but we're taking things slow because that's what he's comfortable with.

"I like that he already understands what it's like to be part of this world... Y'know, having to feed on fear and stuff to survive. He knows the moral quandaries that come with that. He's comfortable, and confident in himself... Makes me feel a bit less like a monster. Plus, he's super cute and he knows all this stuff about geology-"

[It was only then that Erik remembered who he was talking to. He got too caught up in everything Ethan that he forgot he was supposed to keep his distance from Tim.]

[Tim listened quietly with some interest at the first part of Erik’s ramble, until he brought up the topic of monsterhood and his eating habits. He stiffened in his spot and gripped the handle of the fridge a bit too tight as he opened it to grab the extra porc for Ethan’s portion.]

“…right.” [He muttered with tightly pressed lips, but didn’t pass any comment on what Erik had said. It was clear they were close, but Tim still had little to no trust or grace in anything related to the Fears.]

“We better make him some normal food too, if he’ll be joining us.”

"Yeah, that was the plan. Oh- one second."

[Erik picked up his phone again, and sent Ethan a message asking if he liked pork chops and barbecue sauce, as well as if he had any food restrictions.]

[Once he'd sent the message, he set his phone down and sniffed at the pork chops.]

"The one in the middle is burning. Scoot it to the left a little. And scooch over, let me heat up the sauce."

(Jon flinches and lets go of Erik suddenly at the sound. He looks over at Martin—who is not doing a great job at concealing his feelings.) Oh um… (Jon sucks in a breath, looking guilty.) Are you finished cooking…?

"Hmph! No. Not even close. It'd be nice if you could wait a little while. It won't be special if it's rushed."

[Martin wasn't even trying to hide it at this point. How could Erik— I mean does he even realize what he's doing, or is he just all over Jon by default?? We seriously need to lay out some boundaries.]

[Tim took a deep breath and placed a hand on Martin’s shoulder. He wasn’t sure if he should interrupt but didn’t want anything to get out of hand.]

“Listen, Martin, how about you give me the rest and I’ll take care of cooking it? You should go have a conversation with them. Preferably without anyone getting harmed in the process?”

[He knew Martin’s jealousy could not be tamed, but he felt the need to try regardless.]

[Martin almost argued, but he instead relented. He pushed the bowl towards Tim and started walking.]

"Yeah, alright."

[Martin sat deliberately between Jon and Erik on the couch. The latter of which who looked incredibly ashamed.]

"We're going to have a talk."

(Jon flinches slightly. Right. This is totally his fault. Dating for a day and he’s already fucked it up.) Okay… I-… (He clears his throat.) Alright.

[With a deep breath, Martin started.]

"Now I don't mind if the two of you..." [He made a vague gesture.] "-but that will have to wait. Jon and I, we just started dating. I want at least a week of no funny business between you two. No... cuddling, no running off in the woods together, and definitely no goo-goo eyes. Can I trust the two of you to behave like responsible adults until I'm comfortable with my boyfriend snuggling up to some other guy?" [Martin looked into Jon's eyes and squeezed his hand, pouring out desperation into the hold.]

(Jon nodded.) Yes, of course I’m- God, I’m sorry, Martin. (He squeezed Martin’s hand back.) You can trust us. (Jon glanced to Erik, hoping he’d get the message.)

[Erik nodded, though it was clear he wasn't entirely focused on the conversation.] "Right, yeah, that's fine. A week is barely anything. You two enjoy the honeymoon phase. In fact, I can probably use that time to go deal with other things. Like- Like my own guy. Not really... boyfriend, but. Y'know. Haven't seen him in a while."

[Martin stiffened at the mention of Ethan.]

"Right! He doesn't know that you're back yet. I warned him about the alternate version of you. Also, I was supposed to invite him over to meet Jon, I believe. Uh- should I just invite him to join us, have him meet everyone? And then, uh..."

[Martin cleared his throat and whispered,] "Erik, you don't mind if Jon and I slip away from the group at some point and spend some time in your room? We already, sort of, used your bed as a seat while we kissed... a lot. I can do your dishes for you?"

((Erik: Just putting my response here since I already switched in and it's one word.))

"Deal."

(There was still an odd feeling at the mention of Erik’s boyfriend? not boyfriend? Whatever. It was not jealousy. Totally not jealousy. Jon heard the two of them whispering, only catching bits and pieces of their conversation.) Right… Um, that’s sorted, I guess?

[Erik nodded.] "Yep. Have fun, you two! Or, have fun when Martin inevitably drags you away."

[Erik stood up, but not before giving Jon a teasing flick on the nose.] "You have permission to use anything in my room."

[Erik left to go help Tim in the kitchen. Ah yes, the two most culinarily unrefined members of the group are handling the cooking.]

(Jon turns a lovely shade of red at that comment.) Oh I um-! (He clears his throat.) Right… (Jon sneaks a glance at Martin.) Now what…?
