I have been vegan for four weeks today! I haven't eaten anything non-vegan since 14th August, and wow, it's such a good feeling! I'm so glad I decided to do this, it has not only done wonders for my recovery, but it has also helped me reduce the guilt I was feeling every day from eating animals. Wow! Here's to the next month!
Lunch today! A food to go salad from Tesco. Wasn't marked vegan, but I binned the weird mint yoghurt that it came with, and that made it okay. Falafel, red pepper, butternut squash, and cous cous. Not bad for £2.50!

Attempting to make exercise look good. Failing.
I am so pleased with myself for managing this, I really am. I haven’t been able to do it since I was a little kid. Even then, I couldn’t do it for this long! Then again, I didn’t even realise it was exercise back then, I just thought it was fun.
I’m really loving how flexible I am, and how much better my balance is getting. It’s brilliant!

I am vegan.
I am not a “transitioning” vegan. I am vegan. I figure if I start saying it, I’ll start thinking it more, which means I will stop allowing myself non-vegan items because I’m “still transitioning”.
I figure, I’d decided to go vegan on September 5th anyway, so what’s three weeks’ difference, right?
I can do it! All of my mum’s favourite lunch places have vegan options (thank god), as do mine, so that’s not a problem. I’ve got the cooking part down, the nutrition down, and the knowledge is there now.
I can do this! I can! :)
Wahoo! After nearly four week’s worth of Blogilates’ beginners workout calendar, I am feeling fiiiine!! I mean, it’s taken me six weeks to do a four week long challenge, but we’ll just… brush that aside for now.
It’s also about a month since I’ve really started my vegan transition. Now, more of my days are vegan than there are days that aren’t, and I’m really starting to enjoy my journey!
In terms of my body, I’ve definitely noticed some intense toning up in my arms, as you can see from the photos of me gratuitously flexing my muscles, and also in my legs as well. There’s been some pretty solid improvements in my stomach too, but that’s always been pretty much surfboard flat for the last few years anyway.
I’ve gained a bit of weight (yay!) but I’ve lost about half an inch from my stomach, going from 23.5” to 23”, which is pretty cool!
Looking at these photos makes me realise how bloody stocky I look! You wouldn’t believe I was 5’6! Something to do with ridiculously broad shoulders I suppose!
One last place I’m seeing changes? My butt. My butt is amazing. Not to blow my own horn, but really. It’s awesome! Heh.
It feels so great to be doing this the healthy way! These photos were taken after consuming copious amounts of food throughout the day; porridge, biscuits, a hot dog, pop-corn, an enormous serving of chili sin carne, a cinnamon sticky bun with Swedish Glace… you get the picture anyway. I would never have taken pictures of myself after eating before today. Never. That would have freaked me out too much.
Now I just feel great! Full of energy, looking amazing, feeling amazing… can’t wait for the new university year, and the challenges that will come with it!

Some updates on me!

Just had Linda McCartney's fishless scampi today for dinner, and I am pleasantly surprised! I don't normally like this food range (the sausages are so salty, bleurgh!), but these were really nice! A very realistic texture, and quite a nice taste. I've enjoyed it quite a lot actually, will definitely be having them again!
An Update!
I've been doing Blogilates beginners calendar for the past two weeks now. I've not been updating on every day's workouts because it was getting a little repetitive.
I'm starting to feel really good! My legs are getting so, so toned, as it my tummy. The biggest difference is in my arms though, wow! I actually have muscle for the first time in my life. No longer do I look like a weed! Getting really psyched up for starting at the gym next month before uni starts.
I feel so much more alive every day as well. My sleeping pattern is actually existent for the first time in years (bed at about 1am, rise between 8 and 9am), and I'm enjoying breakfast, etc.
I have so much more energy!!
Falafel Pita with Stir Fried Veggies and Red Pepper Hummus
This was a bit of a lazy recipe, I won't lie, so I won't go into too much detail. I'd picked up some ready made Cauldron falafel and some Tesco's own red pepper hummus, so it's hardly a from scratch recipe!
I stir fried half a courgette, some mushrooms, and green pepper in oil with a dash of paprika and garlic powder, and piled it into a wholemeal pitta with some raw spinach and my red pepper hummus, and topped with some of the slightly warmed falafel. It was deeee-licious!
I've never posted a photo of myself! Here's me, looking all mysterious and... stuff... after a fat-tastic lunch of falafel pita and gingerbread yoghurt. Stuffed is not the word!

My breakfast this morning. Graze "Summer Berry" granola with Blue Diamond almond milk, and half of a sliced banana. I also had a cheeky mug of coffee, since I felt so sleepy when I woke up. Adding another duvet to my already over-comfy bed really doesn't promote an easy wake up!
It just hit me...
…that I really am going vegan. I can remember past me ignorantly standing by her “organic, free range grass-fed meat” and it makes me laugh, it really does. I was so uneducated! I never, ever thought I’d really be willing to make this transition. I was one of those people that said stuff like; “I’d never be able to go vegan, I like cheese too much”. At first, I thought it would be a sacrifice of things I enjoyed to help animals, but instead, I have realised it is a joy.
There is no guilt in my food, and my relationship with it has therefore gotten so much better. I plan my meals, look forward to eating, am excited by trying new things.
I am so glad I have decided to do this, and so thankful for the great vegans in my life who nudged me (or kicked, punched and dragged me, in the case of some) in the right direction.

Sweetie Pie Lush Shower Jelly Review
This smells amazing. Really, I often sit with the pot under my nose, just inhaling as much as possible. If this stuff was edible, it would be gone in a second. Really. It's that good. It's just... well. Dash to your nearest Lush store, and just sit in the corner with Sweetie Pie shoved up your nose for as long as possible until a shop assistant gets suspicious and carts you off to the nearest mental ward.
It's a novel idea, really; washing yourself with a blob of jelly. Slippery though. Really slippery. And annoying when you keep dropping it on the floor, heart thumping as you pray, please don't break, please don't break. So whilst it smells amazing, it can be a bit awkward.
Though after a couple of uses, I'm getting used to it! I've tamed the beast, as it were. Or rather, learned to get a grip. It says on the pot that you can freeze it beforehand, which I'd like to try. The results would be interesting!
Despite the awkwardness, this jelly is a really good soap! It lathers really well once you've got the hang of it, and it's good at banishing certain, ah, foot smells, after a hard day at work, leaving my feet fresh and fruity! All in all, a laugh to use, a bit weird, but a truly lush, heh.

Lazy Days Dark Chocolate Tiffin Review
These tasty treats have a deliciously rich flavour; if you fed these to a non-vegan without telling them, they would not guess! The chocolate is rich and almost milky tasting, with a sweeter taste than most dark chocolate, due to the tiffin.
I bought these from a small wholefoods store in my town, so they were pretty pricy at £2.65 for five small pieces of tiffin, which is a shame. However, I felt it was better to support the small shop by spending a bit extra, than support the supermarkets by paying a little less.
I also feel the pieces are pretty teensy for such an expensive price. Having said that, if they were any bigger, I'd probably get incredibly fat, incredibly quickly, as these are delicious, so perhaps the small amount at such an expensive price isn't such a bad thing at all!
The packaging is pretty, looking nice and natural in a country cottage-esque box, which goes really well with my kitchen!
All in all, a good little treat, not to be bought often due to expense, and perhaps a little on the small side.

Barry M Nail Varnish Variety
Barry M is my favourite makeup brand when it comes to nail varnish; the solid colours, and excellent "lifespan" of their varnish on nails is really appealing to me, as somebody who often forgets to redo their nail varnish every other day. I really lean towards their blue shades; pictured above are Aquarium Collection: Pacific, and Gelly Hi-Shine: Watermelon, although I also have Gelly Hi-Shine: Elderberry, not pictured.
I bought the Pacific colour today, as well as Barry M's All In One Clear Coat (middle), and I have to say, I'm really pleased. The colour of the Pacific is iridescent and rich, and the sheen of the clear coat really brings out the colours. It also seems to be quite protective of any colour underneath it, and both colours are very quick drying. The photo below shows you what they look like together:
The Gelly Hi-Shine colours are also bright, solid colours, long lasting and difficult to chip. The colours are rich, and look wet even when dry, which is a nice addition. My nails still look spectacular, without harming any animals!
I've given Barry-M four stars for their nail varnish range overall, as the colours do chip after a while, and when they chip, boy do they chip! I'm hoping that by applying the top coat, they may last a little longer, so do be aware if you do leave your nail polish for a while like me.

Eco-Tools Makeup Brushes Review
I bought these from Boots for the slightly pricey sum of £15.99 (in comparison to sites such as Amazon) because I was eager to use them as soon as possible, without lengthy shipping processes. I'd heard excellent things about them as brushes, and really wanted to see for myself whether they matched up to other high brand, non-cruelty free versions.
I have to say, these brushes have exceeded all of my expectations; the bristles are wonderfully soft, and easy to control, with the long, tapering handles fitting well into the hand. They are beautiful brushes; very aesthetically pleasing.
My favourite brushes are the angled eyeliner brush, the blusher brush, and the eyeshadow brush. The angled eyeliner brush is the ideal size to apply any liquid eyeliner, from gel to more watery liquids. It's easy to clean, and keeps its shape well after washing.
The blusher is soft and feels delightful against the skin, with the brush again keeping its shape after washing. Having said that, this brush really doesn't need washing much, as any powder applied to it transfers brilliantly to skin, barely leaving a trace on the brush itself.
The eyeshadow brush is perhaps my most used brush; it's lovely and soft, and blends colours very well. Like the other two, it washes well, barely needing any soap.
The only reasons I haven't given this product 5 stars are because the bamboo handles have to be kept out of water, which can be awkward when washing the brushes, and the bag for them was slightly scratched when I bought it, which on closer inspection, seemed to have happened to all of them in the store.
Overall, an amazing makeup brush set, well priced for what you get, an a must for every vegan's makeup supplies!
