❛❛ I’m not good enough for you. This is wrong. ❜❜

The sheer ridiculousness of the man’s words silenced Talon for a full minute, too many counter-arguments jumbling together on his tongue. Like cars in a traffic jam, everything he could say blocked itself from being said so that he simply stared at the other man with arched eyebrows and a scrunched up face.
He took a deep breath, trying to pick out just one of the many things he could say, and then let the words tumble out.
“I’m too good for you? Are you fucking kidding me? I’m an assassin! A Noxian assassin! I killed my only friend when I was a kid! I kill people for money and don’t feel anything about it! I—” Talon forced himself to take another breath before he started spilling actual secrets, fingers twitching at his sides with the desire to find a knife and slash at the red, insubstantial thread that glowed between them and only they could see. “-You’re fucking insane if you think that I’m too good for you and not the other way around.”
A pause and then more quietly, “Maybe you being insane is the only way that I could be good enough for you. This isn’t wrong because what the fuck could you have done Tom deserve being stuck with me?”
Ezreal smiled weakly at that. Talon was definitely a flawed individual–but he was also a product of his environment. Molded and shaped by the harsh environment that made up Noxus and its rules. Strength above all else at the sacrifice of love, emotion, and happiness. Few Noxians seemed to live truly happy lives and all were based in violence in some way or another.
“You were unlucky. Growing up in this place. No mercy. No love. No parents. No one to show you what strength really is or what it means to be able to care. But you still love in your own way. You care about me.” Ezreal pointed out, his expression haunted and a tinged with sadness.
“You became what you could in the world offered to you. You became what you had to to survive. That doesn’t necessarily make you a bad person. We all have our flaws and our problems. I don’t agree with everything you do, but I know why you do it. I just think you deserve someone who can really show you the world. How to live, how to love. I don’t know if I’m the right one for that.”
