@heathcliffe-honchcliffe
im so in love with this post one time i got really really high and decided since i dont have a printer that i was going to paint it and hang it up on my wall
there's only 7 words on the painting and you managed to misspell the two largest ones
"there's only 2 colors in the night sky and you managed to paint completely new and different colors"
that's how you sound right now
There *are* only *8* words on the painting.
Long live dvd normal
you only like me for my radiant personality :/ you're only here because you love to see my smile :/ you only want to hang out with me because you know we're both so much happier knowing each other :/
Marc Hempel âSpaceman: Daydreaming Can Be Dangerousâ. I originally posted only the first page of this brilliant comic. Now here is the full illustrated story. Scanned from short lived sci-fi magazine Questar, February 1980.
Iâm writing a science fiction art collection right now - gonna try to see if I can get this entire comic into it!
Iâm gonna bring my laptop outside and see how far I can run before photobooth can take a picture
puttering around the house is an underrated form a self-care. make some tea or coffee. put on a podcast. sort the mail. tidy some pillows and fold some blankets. start the laundry. thaw some soup. just casually wander around aimlessly doing little things to make your space and life a little nicer. who cares if you get distracted or only do a little. you aren't being productive. you're puttering.
The core conceit of Lord of the Rings is pretty funny. You are a twenty three year old in a suburb of Maine. The little bracelet in your grandpaâs attic has an inscription on it that is the password to the worldâs entire nuclear arsenal. It is up to you to walk to the only hydraulic press in the world, located in Arizona, before the FBI finds the bracelet, kills you, and enslaves the suburb of Maine you currently live in
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
The full picture is even more heart breaking after you open the uncropped version. Just a heads-up, it's rough
âThe Roman Catholic Parish in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was just grafitted.â
Nah letâs post it. Letâs feel it. Donât look away.
I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.
Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.
Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.
Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.
They were CHILDREN.
They were murdered in cold blood.
Iâd like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldnât have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how âgreatâ they were.
Hereâs another photo of the legislative assembly from yesterday. Later on there were more items, candles and signs at the memorial, as well as a big poster with 1505 painted on it but I didnât get a picture
People need to see this. Not just quickly glance at the photos and keep on scrolling. They need to see this.
Reblog this or just stop following me
I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.
I went to a âCancel Canada Dayâ event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.
This is my countryâs legacy - and itâs not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.
They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my countryâs attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for godâs sake.
here you can read an article about a survivor of the church and some of the things he experienced to help put into perspective how awful and just how recent it was

Can we find a sun god or diety from every timezone and make a map of them all?
We probably can, but the question is should we?
How else will ship captains know who to pray to when they circumnavigate the globe?
âŠGive me until the end of the weekend.Â
I actually had some unexpected free time today so I was able to create this a lot faster than I expected.Â
It isnât perfect, but following the initial post I assigned each timezone one sun deity, so travelers know who they might pray to while exploring the world.
This was a lot of fun to create and to research mythologies from across the world, and I think I learned a couple of things doing so!
Well, there you have it folks. Safe travels.
Loving the implication that the various sun gods are all super into the intricacies of human time zone fuckery
The entire point of, OK, my phone really wants to call it Anastasia so I guess weâre doing that? The entire point of Anastasia (as administered by a board-certified Anastasiologist) during sugary. Sugary? Havenât I suffered enough? The entire point of Anastasia during augury. Jesus Christ. Hold up. You know what, augury is preferable to sugary. Augury is obviously performed by an auger (makes sense if you give it a think) whereas sugary is performed byâŠ? A sugardaddy? NO THANK YOU. Anyway. The entire point of Anastasia is so that you donât know what music your sturgeon. Fuck right off. Was playing. While you were under. Youâre not supposed to wake up from Anastasia and immediately realize you managed to get earwormed by Motörheadâs âAce of Spadesâ during your sugary.

Sure you grieve the extinction of the Passenger Pigeons, but are you still calling Rock Pigeons "flying rats" and laughing at their misery?
Sure you obsess over finding the last rumoured surviving Ivory-billed Woodpecker, but are you still harassing migrating geese and destroying their eggs?
Sure you dream of seeing the long gone Great Auks, but are you still throwing trash at gulls?
If you only care about birds when they are charismatic and extinct, you don't care about birds.
This isn't about birds.
I know people on tumblr looove stories of underwater cave diving, but I haven't seen anyone talk about nitrogen narcosis aka "raptures of the deep"
basically when you want to get your advanced scuba certification (allowing you to go more than 60 feet deep) you have to undergo a very specific test: your instructor takes you down past the 60+ foot threshold, and she brings a little underwater white board with her.
she writes a very basic math problem on that board. 6 + 15. she shows it to you, and you have to solve it.
if you can solve it, you're good. that is the hardest part of the test.
because here's what happens: there is a subset of people, and we have no real idea why this happens only to them, who lose their minds at depth. they're not dying, they're not running out of oxygen, they just completely lose their sense of identity when deep in the sea.
a woman on a dive my instructor led once vanished during the course of the excursion. they were diving near this dropoff point, beyond which the depth exceeded 60 feet and he'd told them not to go down that way. the instructor made his way over to look for her and found a guy sitting at the edge of the dropoff (an underwater cliff situation) just staring down into the dark. the guy is okay, but he's at the threshold, spacing out, and mentally difficult to reach. they try to communicate, and finally the guy just points down into the dark, knowing he can't go down there, but he saw the woman go.
instructor is deep water certified and he goes down. he shines his light into the dark, down onto the seafloor which is at 90 feet below the surface. he sees the woman, her arms locked to her sides, moving like a fish, swimming furiously in circles in the pitch black.
she is hard to catch but he stops her and checks her remaining oxygen: she is almost out, on account of swimming a marathon for absolutely no reason. he is able to drag her back up, get her to a stable depth to decompress, and bring her to the surface safely.
when their masks are off and he finally asks her what happened, and why was she swimming like that, she says she fully, 100% believed she was a mermaid, had always been a mermaid, and something was hunting her in the dark đ

from the link in the reblog above:
Nitrogen narcosis is a change in consciousness, neuromuscular function, and behavior brought on by breathing compressed inert gasses. It has also been called depth intoxication, ânarks,â and rapture of the deep. Traditionally the gas involved in narcosis is nitrogen, and it is associated with dysfunction when breathed by scuba divers from their tanks containing compressed air. Other inert gasses associated with narcosis include neon, argon, krypton, and xenon, with the latter having an anesthetic effect even at sea level. Interestingly, helium does not cause inert gas narcosis and therefore, is used in deep diving as heliox (helium and oxygen mixture).
the strength of the effect does vary person to person, and seems to be increased in ocean dives as compared to similar-depth dives in controlled environments, which is attributed to increased psychological stress/anxiety in the deep sea, but there is definitely a physiological element to this.
interestingly in context of the story in the post, this 2024 paper found that when mice were put in a hyperbaric environment with high levels of nitrogen (not involving water/swimming at all), their locomotion was highly increased, and they were even noted to be more likely to move in circles! so I would suspect that the woman's belief that she was a mermaid was her mind creating an explanation for the compulsive behavior induced by the nitrogen pressures, rather than the ~delusion itself being what caused her to swim rapidly in circles.
I do think it's really funny that Sam has this reputation for being a madman who tortures and humiliates his friends for fun and profit but then when you look deeper and remember that these are all comedians it becomes abundantly clear that every single person on that stage is a massive masochistic freak and the dynamic is more that post about BDSM that's like
Sub: Can you drug me and then tie me up naked and throw me in the back of your truck and drive me to an abandoned warehouse where you do fucked up science experiments on me?
Dom, notebook in hand: I don't know, that's scary.
Like that's the real Game Changer cast vs host energy it's not Sam being an insane god of chaos and pain torturing his friends who are semi-unwilling and scared it's Sam offering his comedian friends a space of unlimited possibility and watching them immediately go off the deep end and suggest making an episode based on Slender where they have one hour in a park at night to find 6 pages while Brennanâwho is high on shrooms, blindfolded, and holding a broadswordâhunts them for sport. It's not Sam's fault all of his friends are dangerously insane, he's just trying to offer them enough enrichment that they don't start trying to eat each other. In one of the latest episodes the contestants essentially torture themselves for fun and one tries to give a kid a beer while the others cheer him on, trust me the contestants are SCPs and Sam is their handler. This is containment, not torture.
Saturn's north pole !
The hexagon is nearly 30,000 km (20,000 miles) wide. This is large enough that two Earths could fit inside the storm with room to spare.
It is a standing atmospheric wave created by a powerful jet stream that wraps around the pole. Winds along its edges can exceed 300 km/h (about 220 mph).
At the very center of the hexagon lies a deep, dark polar vortex that extends hundreds of kilometers down into Saturn's atmosphere.

Thanks to @shipleaves in the notes for sharing this link, because legit I did not believe this was a real photo (and it isn't exactly, it's been colorized... but the phenomenon is real)
An enormous spinning hexagon in the clouds at Saturnâs north pole has fascinated observers since our first glimpse of it in the 1980s. The l
