“You should mind it.” Ophelia adored being the center of anyone’s world. Not everyone was made for such a charmed existence, but there should be at least a moment when Annie could shine. “What you need is a makeover!” Her eyes lit up, already planning a little shopping trip where she would treat Annie as a doll in the name of bringing her inner beauty out. New shoes were always a step in the right direction. A new underthings to get her to feel sexy. Then the makeup- oh Ophelia had plans for that. A bold lip so people actually paid attention to what people said. She’d need to make a few phone calls, but it would be worth it... for Annie of course.
Phe rolled her eyes, clicking her tongue. “Consider it the beginning of your journey.” She pushed the colorful drink forwards again. A cosmo was classic for a reason, but it was boring. Annie needed to expand her pallet. “Trust me, it’s good. Unless you want to do shots. I’m always ready for shots.”
"A makeover?" Annie asked, breaking out into a joyous laugh that was almost like a song, and she waved her hand, "What's wrong with what I'm wearing?!" She asked, looking down at her yellow sundress, "I like wearing yellow." The nephilim added in, almost frowning at the statement. Plus, a makeover would draw attention to her that she really didn't want, "Why don't we just go shopping for you?" She then offered with a smile, "Doesn't that sound so much better?" It sounded like a real great idea to her.
Her gaze shifted back towards the drink that Ophelia was offering her again and she sighed softly, grabbing it, "What is it? I don't really like alcohol much..." Annie added in, swirling the drink around. She immediately giggled at the mention of shots and shook her head, "I've never done a shot in my life, sweetie. I don't think now is the time to start." It had been by choice, not because she didn't have the option to do so. She didn't want to let the Paladinus down... or any of the other nephilim really. And shots just sounded like a slippery slope.

This was quite the interaction, and this wasn’t something Annie was expecting to experience this day. Her eyes widened as the man jumped and soon, wings sprouted from his back. A fae. That was suddenly making much more sense. And he seemed to really be having fun which was a little more settling. However, he really did see to be manic, and Annie honestly had no idea how to deal with that. “I can’t fly, sweetie.” She told him sincerely, shaking her head.
She yelped quietly as he grabbed her wrist, causing Annie to shake her head, “I really can’t.” However, he continued and even reached into his pocket to pull out a vial of, apparently, pixie dust, “Oh…no, no. I can’t.” She told him again, “Why don’t you come down here?” Annie then asked, her chocolate eyes looking him over, “Did you…did you take something you shouldn’t have?” Annie just wanted to figure out what was wrong with him, “Do you feel okay, dear?”
-
“Yes. Yes, you can.” He insisted as his grip on her wrist tightened. Why is everyone so foolish? Why does no one listen? “If you just open your mouth and I’ll pour some of this on your little tongue.” He presented the vial in front of her with a smile. “You will be able to fly!” He insisted, wings pushing him closer to the woman.
Jasper frowned. “Take something I shouldn’t have?” He asked, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. “No, no. Just pixie. I’ve taken pixie. Just as you should.” He lifted the vial to his mouth and used his teeth to tear off the cork. “I feel amazing!” He stated, moving the vial back towards her face. “Now open your mouth so you can feel just as amazing.”
Fae were such interesting people. Every Fae that she had met were similar to him... just a little less crazy. The more she hung around him, the worse feeling she got but she very well just couldn't leave him to his devices high on pixie dust, or whatever it was. That just didn't seem right to do. To be frank, she really just wanted him to land on the ground so that she could at least hold onto him and try to get him somewhere safe.
Her face turned up as she offered the bottle again and Annie quickly pushed it away, spilling some of the contents out as she pushed it, "No, no. I don't want it, sweetie. I do want you to come down though." She said, her tone still sweet as ever, offering her hand out to him, "If you come down, I can get you home! Wouldn't that be nice?" It wasn't like she knew where home was but if it was the Grove, she was sure she could at least get him close to there.

Annie just pouted as she looked Gabe over, shaking her head, her curls bouncing dramatically as she did so, “This is very much something to worry about.” She said and huffed. As soon as she sat down, she stood back up and wandered into the kitchen. Earlier that day she had refilled their ice trays so that was a plus. Opening up the freezer, she grabbed one of the trays, cracked it then set it down. She then grabbed a clean dish towel and filled the rag with cubes before she replaced the tray and moved back to the man.
She sat down once again and placed the bundle into her lap before she opened up some gauze, a couple of bandaids and the lid to the peroxide. Pouring some of the peroxide onto the gauze, she gently turned Gabe’s head towards her and she cleaned at the wound on his eye, “This looks pretty bad, dear.” She said softly, cleaning the wound and the blood surrounding it with a deep frown. She hated seeing her friends hurt.
“What kind of a scuffle was this?” The nephilim asked, her voice sweet as ever as she placed the bloodied gauze onto her lap and grabbed the bandaid. As gentle as can be, she taped up the wound on his brow then grabbed the ice, placing it over his eye, “Keep this here. You need the swelling to go down, sweetie.” Annie softly rubbed Gabe’s shoulder, “Is that…all that’s hurt?” She asked, concern etched deep on her features.
-
The little scrap and bruises would heal on their own. Gabe suffered much worse for much longer. Really a black eye and the few other injuries were nothing, yet it was sweet that she cared enough to do something. He would hate to know what might have happened when he came home after an encounter with someone who really meant him harm. He probably should help her, but seeing how she moved around made him realize that she now knew where everything was located better than he.
He hissed through his teeth, more shocked by the cool temperature than the slight sting. She put such care into moving his body around, cleansing his wounds. “You woulda made a great nurse.” He tried to smile, then thought better of it when he remembered that he might be missing a tooth too.
He shrugged his shoulders, wanting to spare her the more grizzly details of the fight. “Just a bit of roughhousing.” He didn’t want her worrying anymore than she already was. This was common. If she hadn’t been around, he’d be drinking a beer. “Are you saying that I’m not pretty?” Gabe sighed, knowing that even if he lied, she’d find out the truth. There was only one way to get out of this. “Is this your way of saying that you want to see what I look like shirtless?”
Annie smiled softly at his comment and she nodded her head, "Thank you." She answered, a bit sadly, "My sisters used to tell me the same thing." That was the last time she had heard those words and it brought back so many complicated memories. Ones that Annie had purposely hidden away so that she didn't have to think about them. However, she quickly pushed them away and she just focused on Gabe. He was the important one here. The poor man had been hurt so badly...
She frowned when he mentioned it was just roughhousing and she knew that was the most she was going to get out of him, "Right." She said, softly and fell silent for a few moments, "You don't have to be afraid to tell me, Gabe." She told him, "Who or whatever it was is something to be made aware of." Annie liked to know about the dangers of Calamity so she could be sure to completely avoid them or help those who got mixed up in them. That was why she was there in the first place, she believed.
Hearing his comment about his shirt, Annie flushed beat red and she immediately shook her head, her curls bouncing, "What?! No! I-I was just...I was just trying to help." How embarrassing was this conversation now? "I just... I can't fix what I can't see." Annie quickly mentioned, shaking her head again, "I could at least patch you up until you can get to a doctor." She offered softly again.
It seemed that things just kept coming crashing down around Jack. Maybe that's all he was destined for. Maybe he was just destined to have a shitty life with shitty things happening to him, only to have irony take over by having him become enlightened. This all just had to be one big joke at his expense, didn't it? But here Annie was again, attempting to make him feel better and distract him. Jack couldn't fault her, she was always there for him despite him not being a very good friend back. He couldn't tell you the first thing about her other than she liked to help people, and to him that just proved how undeserving of the light he was.
Still, he allowed her to hook her arm in his and guide him into the winged chalice. Moderated fun didn't sound like it could be all that fun, but Annie had surprised him before. He would allow her to try again. "Oh Annie, you've subjected yourself to my dance moves for the evening? I feel sorry for you, angel." Jack chuckled, clearly forcing the friendly banter and the laughter but he had to try. He couldn't just let himself mope.
Annie appreciated Jack's attempts to joke and banter. That would really help the night move along. If he didn't, she had other ideas up her sleeve but right now, she really thought that just going somewhere with some nice, fun music and kind of a friend would be good for him! He always had so much going on and anyone would struggle with it. But for him, it was probably even harder because he couldn't turn to any of the vices he used to. Well, he could, but it would really mess him up and she was proud that he hadn't.
Her shoulder bumped against his with a wide smile, "You say this as if I am much better." Annalise laughed. She couldn't really dance. Honestly, she wasn't good at much but that never really bothered her much. Not everyone was meant to be something special. But she knew that Jack was someone that was. He had so much potential. It was one of the reasons why she kept popping up around him all the time. She wanted the best for him. After she waved hello to the bouncer and greeted him, she pulled Jack inside the building and smiled immediately at the ambiance of the place. It was so nice in there.
Hearing a quite upbeat song on, her chocolate eyes widened with amusement and she began to pull Jack towards the dance floor, "Come on! Show me those moves, sweetie!"

"Ohhh." Annie sounded softly, nodding her head. Cecilia seemed to really know what she was doing in this matter, so she wasn't going to question it. However, to Annie, it seemed like it would be easier just to ask him out herself. But, then again, she was just hearing snippets of their odd relationship. She hummed quietly at her friends statement and she tilted her head a bit, "Are you sure that playing games like this is really the best idea? Isn't it kind of...mean?" Once again, Annie had no idea about dating or love anything of that ilk, "I don't know. Making him jealous isn't very nice, right? Why do you want him jealous? So he sees what he's missing?"

Her head tilted at the others comment, unsure how to take it. Annie's gaze shifted down towards the drink that was being pushed towards her and immediately she shrugged, "I don't mind being secondary." Annie admitted with a smile, "There's far more entertaining people out there who deserve the spotlight or the...'main character' spot, as you said." She laughed, "I get nervous with too many eyes on me, anyway."
Annie knew the drink she would always get and whatever was being pushed towards her was not it, "What is this?" She asked, tilting her head a bit, "I always get one Cosmopolitan." Pause, "Sometimes two if I'm feeling really spunky." She giggled.

The more she hung around this man, the more concerned and uncomfortable she got. As his head tilted, Annie’s did as well, hearing his question, “…Nothing really…” She answered him, looking around the area, “We’re just…here.” She smiled softly, “You just don’t seem very well and I wanted to check on you…” Annie was no medical professional. In fact, she knew absolutely nothing about it. But she could pick out of a crowd someone was not well in general. And this man didn’t seem like he was…
The nephilim’s brows furrowed as he approached her, stating all the ways he felt. She would have smiled, but it was…eery. His demeanor was just not right. His question was even more odd, “Flying?” She asked with a slighlty uncomfortable laugh and shake of her head, “What do you mean? How are you flying? You look quite grounded to me.” She spoke.
-
“Flying! You can fly!” Jasper shouted excitedly as he held his arms out at his sides. He flapped them, slow, then fast, then slow again. “Oh, wait–” He doubled over in laughter as his wings fluttered. “I have wings, of COURSE I can fly!” He leapt up, letting his wings catch the air. “And you can too! Oh, you can. You SO can!” He giggled as he flew towards her.
Jasper grabbed the woman’s wrist. “Fly with me. Let me show you. I’ll show you how!” He used his other hand to shove into his pocket and pull out a vial. “This. Pixie Dust. It’ll make you fly. SOAR! Over the stars, the moon!” He smiled widely. “But don’t get too close to the sun. No, no. Too close and then you’ll– AHHHHH. Scream.”
He held the vial out towards. “Open your mouth and then fly with me!”
This was quite the interaction, and this wasn't something Annie was expecting to experience this day. Her eyes widened as the man jumped and soon, wings sprouted from his back. A fae. If there was one thing Annalise Chambers was great at, it was being a beacon of hope for anyone who needed some. And as much as she hated to admit it, Jack needed a lot of it. And while she knew she wasn't his favorite person, Annie was never able to leave his side. She really did feel for him and she just wanted him to know that he was loved and cared for by all of the nephilim. He was an integral part of their lives now, whether he wanted to be or not.
She doesn't really involve herself with the group chat, but she did read what happened and she knew Jack was struggling with the whole Dylan thing (understandably so), so he opted to take him out for a night on the town, "Things will get better, sweetie." She told him as he turned her chocolate brown eyes towards him, "I am certain of it." She hooked her arm through his as she guided them towards The Winged Chalice, "And you know what's a great way to start? Having some fun!" Annie beamed, "Some moderated fun! No drinking. But we can dance the night away!"

Merry Christmas!
From Nick ;)
To be quite frank, Annie really didn't know what the contents of the box could contain, but she appreciated it none the less, "Oh, thank you, Nick! This is...sweet. Very sweet."

Being social often ended poorly for Gabriel. Out in the wild, a friendly face would be taken advantage of. When he was with his folks, he no longer wanted to think about that. Calamity had been his chance to start over. It was his luck to find that his brother found Calamity first. Still the few friends he’d made were better than those he had before, Annie included in that.
He grinned, shaking his head. “You are doing too much. Normally, I just water down a bit of ketchup and add a few packets of sugar. Throw it in the microwave, and you’ve got yourself tomato soup.” Whatever he smelled was far better and more hearty than the shit he often prepared. Annie spoiled them with good food- real food for a change. Anything she made was the best that Card and Gabe would get in a long time.
“Not a God. If I was, I woulda smitted the guy.” Leaning back on the couch, he groaned. A single tilt of his neck caused a pop to echo through the empty apartment along with the most relief he could imagine after a fight. “It was just a bit of a scuffle. Nothing for you to worry about Annie. Really.” His left eye was swollen shut, but he still had his right. There were far worse injuries he’d dealt with on his own. He’d heal up in with a bit of rest. “It’s worse than it looks.”
.
Annie just pouted as she looked Gabe over, shaking her head, her curls bouncing dramatically as she did so, “This is very much something to worry about.” She said and huffed. Cecilia shook her head and smiled. “Well that won’t do, it’s a good thing you have me to introduce you around then. We’ll have your social calendar filling up in no time,” she assured her. “Especially if you come here more, there’s always people around to drink and enjoy the music. What you are doesn’t have to dictate how many friends you have.” The vampire sighed and took the new martini the bartender handed to her. “I wouldn’t lie to you, so yes, I am pining. As awful as that sounds.” She chuckled a bit at all the questions that came tumbling out. “Alright, one at a time. His name is Tenaya, I hadn’t seen him in a year after an unfortunate situation where I wanted to be in a relationship and he didn’t. He frustrates me to no end but…when he smiles I get weak in the knees,” she sighed again. “It’s always the ones who drive you crazy.”
.
Annie shrugged softly. Being a nephilim didn’t necessarily dictate how many friends she had but it certainly effected it, she believed. Most didn’t want to befriend her because of what she was. She was too good, she often heard, which was very sad. That shouldn’t matter, in her opinion. But in a place like Calamity, she supposed it made sense. But she had a handful of people. She would take it. Besides, she was more interested in listening to Cecilia. Her life was far more interesting in little ol’ Annie’s.
As she began to speak, Annalise leaned forward and listened intently, smiling the whole time. She was so happy to hear about Cecilia’s little crush, which Annie believed was more than that, but she wouldn’t say that out loud. She just listened and nodded, “That’s just how it works, you know?” She asked with a giggle. In actuality, Annie really didn’t know. She couldn’t remember the last time she had a crush on anyone but she was sure she could understand the sentiment, “So, are you going to...ask him out?” Annie asked with a grin.
nicholasxturner:
Nick turns into a hug from Annie, chuckling as he wraps his arms around her waist and returns the hug. “You’re very welcome.” He motions for her to sit down at the bar before he walks behind it and grabs a glass. “You never forget how to use them, three nights a month and it’s hard to avoid it altogether.” He smirks. “Do you want a drink? On the house.”
.
Her lips curved into a small ‘o’ from his statement as she sat down on the bar stool, folding her hands over one another, “I suppose that’s true!” She added in. She had no idea what it would be like to be a werewolf. It had to be scary, right? Suddenly turning into something else that’s not really you anymore. But it is? She couldn’t even imagine. Hearing his question, she beamed and nodded, “I would love a cosmopolitan.” Those were her favorite. So tasty. Her rubbed together a bit idly, tilting her head, “Is it scary?” She asked suddenly, “Being a werewolf?”
i think it's disheartening to come to the realization that you're not very bright, you're not particularly good at anything, don't have a dream or a goal you wish to accomplish... just existing with no purpose
So deathbeckons:
opening up to her wasn’t something that jack was planning on doing, but he knew for his sobriety he needed to. jack couldn’t keep this in, and yes nira understood but she knew the situation; was bias to it all. he had needed someone that knew nothing of the situation to talk to about it, and annie had always been there, even when jack hadn’t been very nice in return.
she moved closer, and he appreciated it, appreciated feeling that someone was there for him but he was also thankful that she didn’t reach out and touch him. he wasn’t sure what his reaction would be, because he had been deep in flashbacks for most of the day, after seeing dylan. some nice, of the relationship and their time together; some not so nice. he could hear his fathers voice again, not like he did when he was high and trying to fight it off but… still there, still present.
“yeah, yes. he looked good. i think he believed me too. i told him things that no one else could’ve known, that only a lover would know so he knows i was telling the truth. he looked healthy.” he supposed that was all he could ask, wasn’t it? if he couldn’t remember jack, at least he was alive and healthy. jack would rather that be the case, than him have died for something he did; for not being able to stand up to his father before the love of his life “died”.
“what if he never remembers me?”
.
Annie had never experienced something like Jack currently was so, unfortunately, she didn’t have much advice for him and that upset her. She wanted to help him. For once, he wanted her to and Annie just didn’t know how. Though she supposed that just by her being there, that was help enough. Jack had seemed pretty distraught, even through texts. And by hearing his story, she completely understood why. Hopefully just by having someone beside him, he could find the strength in himself to stay sober and okay. That was all Annie wanted.
Her hands rubbed together in her lap, listening intently to his words, nodding just a bit. However, hearing his question, her eyes widened as she turned his head towards him. What if he never remembers me? That was quite the question. Annie didn’t have a clue how to answer that. But if there was one thing Annalise Chambers was great at, it was giving hope and she figured that was the very least she could do.
“I don’t think that’s something you should ask yourself, sweetie.” Annie said simply, her legs kicking gently as she sat in her stool, “Things take time. The mind is a...very interesting thing. The mind can make up a narrative and stick with it to protect themselves. That could be what Dylan did.” She said with a soft nod, “If you decide to see him again and try to...be his friend again, then maybe he’ll work it out.” She nodded, “It has been some time and these things take time too.” She nodded, “And if he doesn’t, then you have so many people here to help support you and whatever you need.” She smiled softly, “We’re your family, Jack. We want to help.”
