It goes without saying that this is the most horrifying scene in all of Snowgrave. And what makes this scene that much more horrific is that Kris doesn't even try to stop Noelle from drowning both of them... because they were already trying to end their own life in the first place.

Remember the tea party with Gerson in the last Chapter? In the Snowgrave version, Kris actually gets to eat an apple, and after finishing it, they try to eat its core. And the thing about apple seeds is that they contain cyanide, and yes, they can be fatal when ingested. And earlier in the Chapter, when Gerson asks where Kris is going, and Kris answers "Nowhere," Gerson tells them to "Just keep living," implying that he knows that Kris no longer wants to after what they've been through. And on top of that, remember when Kris attacks the SOUL after being made to force the Thorn Ring back on Noelle? They actually managed to halve their HP before Asgore interrupted them, and the only reason they stopped was because of said interruption!

That's why they still let Noelle lead them out to the lake, EVEN IF YOU TELL THEM TO STOP! Because you've snuffed out any hope that they'll be able to save her and themselves. Because you put them both through so much trauma, cruelty, and malice, they feel that it's the only way out. Because they believe that if she and they end it all right here, nothing can hurt them anymore, and more importantly, you can't make them hurt anyone else.

This makes I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream look like a fairy tale... and it doesn't help that you're playing as AM.

The Ferris Wheel dialogue in Chapter 5 changes so much about Kris and Noelle’s relationship, and really recontextualizes her saying their friendship was forced in Chapter 4.

During their ride she mentions that she feels like their friendship was all in her imagination, and that it felt like Kris just went along with whatever she made them do.

It wasn’t that Noelle felt like SHE was forced to be friends with Kris.

She felt like Kris was being forced to be friends with HER.

With all the pranks, including shaking the Ferris Wheel, and them being nervous to play piano around her, it gave her the feeling that Kris didn’t actually like her. But it’s implied that the reason they shook the Ferris Wheel in the first place was to help her stop crying.

She didn’t realize just how much Kris truly valued their friendship.

She didn’t realize that they cared about her just as much as she cared about them.

She didn’t realize that the pranks were how they expressed that care.
