I always put Amadeus there. His carseat had a latch that hooked right on to the back of the cart seat. Was that still not safe? At 4 months we just started putting a cushion in the seat and sat him in there directly. So he was put in like that maybe 30 times. Idk, we never walked away or ignored him though…maybe that’s the real problem here.
From what I’ve heard that latch is meant for the base of the car seat and not for shopping carts. Latching it to the cart can actually weaken the car latching system. Not to mention the seat can still fall off the cart when latched like that. Check out your manual and see what it says, though.
^ there’s only one car seat that’s actually been approved for latching into carts as well, and I’m pretty sure that they actually amended that idea in the instructions not to. Every time you click the seat over anything but a base designed for it, it’s getting weaker.
Small story: my best friend’s sister does this. One of her other small children ran into the cart and the whole thing toppled. Baby went skidding. (Thankfully everyone was okay though!)
Did you know that if you get in a serious auto accident and your child is in the car they could be injured, or worse?
