Q: Where did Sonic come from?

A: We don't know specifically. There is a small community of blue Mobian Hedgehogs on Christmas Island, so there's no reason he can't just be someone's kid, but he was also found as a feral child in the middle of the woods being raised by various Mobini.

We could try and draw a conclusion from the identification of Christmas Island on Mobius with the legendary isle of Avalon, or the discovery of one of the Chaos Emeralds on the island not long after Sonic was found by one Charles Hedgehog, but that would just amount to speculation....
