Ayazma Mosque - Istanbul, Turkey
The Ottomans built birdhouses on the facades of mosques, madrasahs or palaces that had sunlight and no wind, at a height that people couldn't reach. They also placed small plates on graves from which birds could drink water.

Wrapper (2012) is a permanent work of art by Jacqueline Poncelet at Edgware Road station in London, UK. Created in vitreous enamel, the artwork clads the building and perimeter wall in a patterned grid. Each pattern communicates a different part of the surrounding area, resulting from the images Poncelet developed through her research over a period of three years prior to installation. Located in the urban setting of central London, Wrapper intersects a varied landscape of buildings. Resembling an immense patchwork, Wrapper weaves together imagery taken from local history and the surrounding environment. In Wrapper, and throughout Poncelet’s artistic practice, patterns and colours are employed in deliberate arrangements. “A pattern not only speaks of other places, but of changes in our culture and the passage of time”, says Poncelet. This permanent, integrated artwork is highly responsive to its local context and open to interpretation. In conceiving the artwork, the artist considered the way it will be viewed by residents and transit users alike.

Responding to site constraints creativity bloomed. Caution to planners to respect zoning, and react creatively rather than simply seeking variances.
A farm designed to restore oceans and planet health, whilst providing food for people.
Since there is no need for fresh water, fertilizer, or pesticides, restorative ocean farming is a sustainable form of food production.
As a food crop, seaweed is rich in nutrients such as protein, calcium, and vitamin-C. Recent studies demonstrate that a network of seaweed farms the size of Washington State could produce all of the dietary protein needs of the human population.
The farms use restorative and foundational species that provide habitats for hundreds of marine and bird species; creating natural reef systems that harbor hundreds of wild species.
The farm model and technologies are open source.
Calligraffiti | Via
Amid Cairo’s brick buildings and heaping piles of trash is a sprawling work of art, which, at first, looks messy and incoherent.
But when you stand on the nearby hillside and read the spray-painted Arabic “calligraffiti,” as its creator Tunisian-French artist eL Seed calls it, the message reads loud and clear: “If one wants to see the light of the sun, he must wipe his eyes.”
The quote represents the importance of withholding judgment of people just because of their circumstances, says eL Seed, who first visited the community a few years ago. He’s called the piece “Perception” for just that reason, hoping to get people to see past the area’s physical appearance.
The entire piece took three weeks to complete, and eL Seed says it was done in total secrecy from the Egyptian government due to the country’s strict laws forbidding artistic expression.
