i realized today after the final verdict in the hockey canada case, that i've been silent on this issue since the beginning. i would like it known that i stand with & send all my love & healing to e.m. i will always believe the victim first. i found this case to be triggering for me from my own personal experiences.
i'm absolutely disgusted & horrifed by the verdict of the hockey canada case. unfortunately, i'm not surprised by this verdict. growing up in michigan & ontario (both major hubs for hockey), i've heard countless stories of hockey athletes taking advantage of, sexually assaulting, or even committing acts of domestic violence against women. so rarely do women come forward with their story to seek justice because not only do you have to jump through hurdles to get your case heard, but more often than not, survivors get screwed over, ridiculed & dismissed by the justice system; just as e.m. did. but i would like to also make the point that it's not just hockey players being excused of this abhorrent behavior. it's all men in power and/or with wealth.
i believe this case was a mistrial in the highest degree for a variety of reasons & was set up to fail from the get go. hockey canada paid an initial settlement to e.m. for a reason. not to mention the delay/dismissal of the jury & the interference of the defense. i truly believe judge carroccia had the verdict in her mind before the trial started. not only are the testimonies of these men from 2018 to now is vastly different, but they also had a groupchat to "get their story straight". the judge continually dismissed texts that were meant to be used as evidence against the defendants. the questions the judge asked & the assumptions she made against e.m. were disgraceful & unprofessional. i could go on & on. but i would like to remind everyone that a non-guilty verdict does not mean they are innocent!!
my heart goes out to e.m. & to anyone who has been a victim of assault. you are loved. you are important. & most of all, you are believed. i have had my own experiences surrounding sexual assault & domestic violence & it is very difficult to navigate & work through emotionally, but it's possible. you are more than just a victim. if you have experienced this or know of someone who has & need someone to talk to my dm's & asks are always open!
it just drives me isane that these men have had conflicting testimonies and changed their version of events whenever and however they wanted and STILL be believed by a judge, but E.M's inconsistencies were big enough to pretty much call her a liar
fuck those 5 men and fuck hockey canada
Kind of wish that I didnât get so into hockey so free agency wouldnât stress me out. It was so nice last year when I just started watching games with no prior knowledge of who played for what teams. It would be nice to get hockey specific amnesia so I could come into this next season fresh without any lingering sadness

In 2009, the attorney general for the island state of Tasmania stated that Australian wallabies had been found creating crop circles in fields of opium poppies, which are grown legally for medicinal use, after consuming some of the opiate-laden poppies and running in circles
In case anyone is wondering, here is what said crop circles look like.

Of all potential Crop Circle explanations, I donât thing *anyone* saw âstoned wallabiesâ as a candidate, let alone the likely suspect.
