Sept 7 / Late Arrival / Loras, Robb & Theon
"Might want to let it go this time, don’t you think?" he whispered in Theon’s ear close enough for only him to hear, squeezing his shoulder even tighter. Robb looked over to their one man audience and politely smiled at him, hoping to ease the tension if only for a moment.
Theon really didn’t feel up to “apologizing” to this kid, but neither did he really want to start a fight so early during the party. And Robb might be more accommodating as wingman if Theon behaved.
So Theon settled with his own version of an apology. “My bad, mate.” He smiled at the kid. “Let’s not let our tempers get the best of us. Let me get you another drink.”
Only Robb caught the annoyed face he made as he turned around, rolling his eyes dramatically. At this point he just wanted to supply the kid with more drinks and be on his way to the fun. He filled three new cups with plenty of beer, and brought them over to where Robb and the kid were waiting.
“Here you go,” Theon said as he swiftly tugged the old cup out of the kid’s hand and shoved the new on in its place.
Robb was used to Theon’s ways, so he quickly added, “Thanks,” and extended a hand, “I’m Robb by the way, sorry about that misunderstanding.” Then he nudged Theon, “And this is Theon.”
Which left Theon no choice but to crack a smile and extend his hand as well
Sept 7 / Late Arrival / Loras, Robb & Theon
Robb was still sore about the wake up call. Or rather, Theon’s string of wake up messages. After Robb finally let him inside his room, Theon spent most of the time sitting at the foot of Robb’s bed while Robb attempted to fall back asleep. He made mindless chatter, took annoying photos of Robb trying to sleep, and probably lost himself quite a few goodwill points, but what could he say? Theon always had a bad habit of doing stupid things when he was bored.
And he was really bored.
Or perhaps more accurately, he was bored waiting for the party that night. Since the term had not actually started, there was very few “fun” things to do on campus. And without fun activity to keep his thoughts more occupied, Theon often found himself worrying about the upcoming classes. He was newly transferred, and besides Robb, there were no other friendly faces here. His grades last semester were average, probably below average considering “the standard” his father expected out of him. More frustrating was that they were probably due more to his lack of motivation rather than his lack of intellect.
So yeah, to escape his anxiety, Theon wanted to party before any real responsibilities started. And he wanted to convince Robb to hangout with him to pass time before the party.
But Robb was back asleep, and Theon wondered why he was awake this early. Probably because he had stayed awake too long the days before and shifted his sleeping schedule around, and suddenly he was waking up too early. At least he should be awake early enough for classes, as long as he doesn’t shift his sleep schedule right back to before.
Robb rolled away from him, leaving a wide stretch of bed space for Theon to sit on. So Theon propped his feet on Robb’s pillow, and laid his head down by Robb’s feet, with his arms crossed behind his head, looking aimlessly upon the ceiling. It was sort of peaceful.
Then he nudged Robb with his right foot.
“Ugh! Gross!” Robb practically shouted. “Get your stupid feet off my pillow.”
“Yes, sir!” Theon pulled his legs back and nudged his knees against Robb’s side, faking a salute with his hand. “So long as you promise to browse around the shops in town before the party tonight. I want to see some interesting shops.”
Robb groaned something unintelligible and rolled further away.
It was honestly a miracle Robb put up with him for so long, especially since Theon purposely annoyed him so much. And as they walked around town and the shops outside of campus, Theon mused over how special it kind of made him feel. He let Robb drag him into a bookstore so they could compare textbook prices, and so Robb could find a particular Time magazine issue. They ate and passed the time until night, where they went back to Theon’s room to get ready.
Robb joked that Theon preened too much, and that they were probably going to be late.
“Whatever, we’ll be fashionably late.” Theon declared.
“As long as we go and I can get this over with.” Robb said.
When they arrived at the address, music seeped through the half opened door, and the house was as crowded as a good party should be. Theon pushed through the door, and grabbed Robb by the shoulders as he led them straight to the closest keg with cheap beer he could find…
...And barreled right into some pretty-faced kid with a plastic party cup.
“Hey, watch it!” Theon instantly bit out, with a scowl.

Theon Greyjoy > heirtopyke | 22 | Fourth Year Transfer | Business
Born the third son, Theon had very little ambition while growing up. This was not helped by his father favoring his older brothers and neglecting Theon in favor of them. Everything changed when Rodrik and Maron died.
Roughly a decade ago, while trying to expand the family fortunes outside of fishing, Balon Greyjoy tried an unsuccessful hostile takeover of a Stark subsidiary. The attempt left the Greyjoy family in heavy debts and resulted in an investigation by the FTC. While Balon was under investigation, Rodrik and Maron were killed in a boating accident. Though the deaths were ruled an accident in the report, it was clouded by the fact that Rodrik had DUIs under his belt. With these tragedies, Balon’s progeny was reduced to just Theon and his elder sister, Asha.
A fair man by nature, Eddard Stark offered to put Balon’s children through private school while Balon settled the FTC investigation and his debts as a result of the failed takeover in the wake of his sons’ deaths. Unwilling to take the added insult, Balon refused Asha, but was indifferent with regards to Theon. Seeing a chance to make the next heir to the Greyjoy family line a better person than his father, Eddard Stark put Theon in the same private school as his own son, hoping for a better influence.
All of these events left Theon feeling more uncertain of his future than ever. His pride and desire for respect left him often resentful of his situation, and he often took his anger out on others below him. His father’s rejection of him in favor of his sister stun, leaving Theon no comfort but the strangers in the Stark family. His time spent in school with Robb Stark, the one person he could honestly call friend, made him envy the luxury construction business, and more uncertain than ever on his position in the fishing industries.
In the meantime, Balon cleared his name with the investigation and focused his energy rebuilding the Iron Islands Fishing Company, and placed his hopes in Asha. With the family business thriving again, Theon returned home to a distant father embittered over the Stark debt and a sister more favored to inherit.
Unsure of his future, Theon meandered his way through his first few years of college, drifting through majors. Once Robb entered Westeros University though, Theon applied to transfer to WU as well, and despite his less than ideal transcript, was largely accepted through the Stark influence. Hoping at last for a new start and a chance to prove himself on his own—to both his father and Eddard Stark—Theon enters WU as a Business major, though he has more plans of partying than quality time in the library.
