Jon and Odysseus are best friends in my head for some reason
What really pisses me off is that after NG turned out to be an awful human being the only thing left in Good Omens was the fandom and now even that seems to be falling apart. Is it really that hard to have different opinions on the finale but still be kind to each other? If you liked it, great for you! If you didn’t, I’m so sorry but everyone involved did their best, so don’t go around harassing them. Why can’t we all just agree to disagree and go on like reasonable people?
genuinely, and i say this with the best of intentions truly, but it's because of sentiments like this part:
"If you liked it, great for you! If you didn’t, I’m so sorry but everyone involved did their best, so don’t go around harassing them."
everyone has been saying that they wish the fandom wasn't splitting itself in half, but all i see is people who liked it being accepted, and people who didn't being automatically assumed to be the problem. it's not "people who didn't like it" who are harassing crew, it's a small minority of people whose opinion actually is irrelevant, they exist all over the internet, and in this case they just happen to be getting a lot of attention. conflating the two groups is doing more harm than good.
also "everyone did their best" isn't a good defense against not liking it. not liking it and whether or not anyone did their best are two separate things. but again, we keep getting grouped in with people who are causing harassment. instead of just looking at it like the reasons people don't like it are just as valid as the reasons people do like it. if i saw even one single post that acknowledged that people who didn't like it are hurting and in pain for the same basic reasons that people who liked it are happy (i.e. we loved the show) *without* either also adding in that we're harassing crew or without having to qualify that it's ok *unless* you're harassing crew, i think my goodwill towards this fandom would be renewed.
believe me, none of us who didn't like it are having a good time, we're not happy we didn't like it, and it's kind of devastating feeling like you're getting kicked out of a fandom you also are a part of just because of it. how someone felt about the finale shouldn't even be a relevant question in whether or not they're part of this community. we were all here together.
I apologise if my comment was misunderstood. What I meant to say was almost the opposite to what people have interpreted, although I admit I could’ve maybe phrased it better. Still, I already deleted it so there’s no more trouble, but I wanted to explain it properly before letting the subject go.
All I wanted was to express my discomfort with the current situation of the Good Omens fandom and how sad all the toxicity in it makes me feel. I really miss the times when the Good Omens fandom was such a welcoming and fun community to be in where people wouldn’t be judgemental and everyone just enjoyed their shared love for something. Being a Good Omens fan has been hard: Neil Gaiman turned out to be an awful human being, we didn’t know if we were getting a season 3, and eventually when it came the fandom divided. I can’t help but not feel as welcome in the fandom as I did a few years ago. Personally, I had my issues with the finale and to this day I’m still struggling to sort out my thoughts on it. There were parts I really enjoyed and others that I didn’t like as much. What I meant was that if you liked it then I’m glad you did (I mean, it always feels better to like something rather than to dislike it, and if you’ve been waiting for the finale for so long and you loved what you saw then i guess that must be a great feeling, so i’m not gonna be the one to go and rain on your parade) but that doesn’t give you the right to hate on those who disliked it or not validate their opinion. If you disliked it I’m sorry but not because your opinion is not valid, but because we’ve been waiting for this finale for a very long time and we all had our hopes on it, so now the disappointment hits like a truck. I have spent days devastated by season 3, believe me.
On the weeks following the release of the finale I read comments of both sides of the debate, and the ones of people who liked it sometimes seemed to imply that if I didn’t like it or wasn’t fully satisfied with it then I didn’t even get what Good Omens was about in the first place, which really made me feel miserable as I could count myself among the ones who genuinely just enjoyed it. In the same way, I also saw people who disliked it spreading very hateful comments about it, stuff that in some ways I agreed with but that was stated in a really confrontational way. In the end I stopped reading comments lol.
When I said “everyone did their best” I didn’t mean it in a “you should like it because everyone did their best” way. I just wanted to appreciate the hard work of the team, who did their best to give us a finale even when all the circumstances were against it. Wether you liked or disliked the finale, I believe their work should be acknowledged. That’s all.
All I wanted was to state my wish for people to be kinder to each other and be able to accept different points of view even if they don’t share it, as I think this is something not only the Good Omens fandom needs, but also the whole world. Everyone seems unable to listen to the rest, or to opinions slightly different than theirs, without starting a confrontation or invalidating others thoughts just because they don’t match ours. Currently we live in a world that is so polarised and where everything seems to be black and white and I believe that, as Good Omens teaches us, we should be able to find shades of grey. If an angel and a demon can love each other, then why can’t we fans try to listen to each other and respect everyone’s opinions without making them feel their thoughts are not valid?
Have a good day :)
Hey there!
I’m still relatively new to tumblr (yeah, joining tumblr in 2026 is a weird feeling, but never too late i guess) so i figured i could post this meet the artist here as well so you get to know me a bit better. Made this a month ago or so but not much has changed, except i’ve got a different watch now lol. Oh yeah and also i hadn’t yet watched GO3 when i made this 🥲
And hey this can even work as a pride month post as well, happy pride everyone and specially my fellow aroaces!
fandom stop reducing women to mothers, sisters, and daughters, challenge level: impossible
!!!!
Drawing aziracrow in the rain is one of my favourite things
*looking at the OC I crafted with my own hands* what the actual hell is her problem
Since I have only recently joined tumblr I guess I will be reposting here a lot of the stuff I’ve already posted on instagram, so here’s a Good Omens piece a made a few months ago. Yeah I drew this before the finale so idk if it makes much sense sharing it now but well here it is
Squeezing oc like a stress ball. Throwing oc at the wall like a tennis ball. Dribbling oc on the ground like a basket ball. Whacking oc with a club like golf ball. AND OTHER SUCH ACTIVIES THAT YOU CAN IMAGINE.
this is the way - the one and only way, actually. i know mando would shoot down any and every homophobe and transphobe in his target 🙂↕️
share your flag <3 prints & stickers now available on my shop!! happy pride!! 🌈 🫶🏻
It just hit me yesterday that it’s been more than a month now since GO3 came out. Like how is that even possible? Did the last month just slip away without me noticing or what? It seems like 13th of may was at the same time a few days ago and and years in the past. But hey at least i’m finally begining to come to terms with the finale (i say as i lay on the floor crying for the 5000 time about Aziraphale and Crowley not existing anymore)
Sigh. Yeah it’s getting better
Odysseus because for the last couple of months Epic has been playing on repeat on my head. I’m not even kidding, no matter what i’m doing my mind will start singing some random Epic song that will be stuck in my head for hours
I’ve been relistening to The Magnus Archives this days (somehow managed to binge all of season 1 in half a week, and I’m already on S3) and it’s basically what stopped me from going insane during the last couple of weeks haha, I guess no matter what kind of day I’m having John is always having a worst one
It’s actually so funny to listen to it all over again and hearing Jon do nothing but complain about Martin throughout season 1 because now i know how things will end. Also it’s really awesome to see how everything fits and they set the scene for things that will happen later in the seasons, the writting of this will never cease to amaze me
Already halfway through my new sketchbook so i wanted to share some of my fav doodles
I sometimes like to torture myself with backgrounds
Good Omens doodles from the past few months
Hope this helps
