at the end of the day we can sit here n talk till our teeth fall out about how racism is so prevalent in f1, encouraged even, and how poc in fandom are NOT being Too Woke or looking into things so deep but it's just exhausting to realize that in spite of all that, there will always be people willing to defend these assholes and to silence poc in fandom. there are always going to be people with no understanding of the many, many nuances of racism and how it affects poc, spouting off about how we just want an excuse to hate someone.

poc athletes (or any public figure really) are expected to be perfect n make no missteps and be model minorities and the same is expected of their fans, we as a group must be sweet and passive and palatable otherwise we get nicknames like cultLH (just an example) while our faves - whether it's lewis, yuki, alex, isack, anyone - gets called names, passive aggressive digs at their competence and their right to exist in the sport, and in some cases, outright slurs. half the current grid (and those recently retired) have done or said something blatantly racist during their careers and never had to apologize, and they still have fans who get big mad when you bring it up. this includes kimi raikkonen, fernando alonso, charles leclerc, carlos sainz, max verstappen ofc the king of them all, and now ollie bearman, and i'm STILL sure i'm missing more than a few. but fans of color and fans of poc drivers are the angry aggressive ones looking for reasons to get mad. sound familiar?
