WHAT: During my hours of work, I went around and saw Molina Healthcare. The lady provided information about the healthcare, which provides quality health care to people receiving government assistance. It is Medicaid that provides a wide range of quality health care services to families or individuals who qualify for government programs. It is designed to meet the needs of individuals with Medicare or both Medicaid and Medicare coverage. They provided experience to members with high quality care meeting their unique needs.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that there are solutions when in search for options on receiving Medicaid. Molina Healthcare has provided more than 3.4 million beneficiaries. They are willing to help those who need government assistance, which will help them benefit from accessing a large selection of doctors and other healthcare providers at a little cost or even nothing.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that Molina Healthcare is reaching out to many people that need coverage plans for their health. Even though the healthcare is not specifically for athletic trainers I can still try and see if I can get a job. This will not only help me gain experience but it will also help in my future because if I see a person that is in need of finding a health coverage plan I can always refer them to Molina Healthcare because I know that they will definitely help the individual out.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I went around looking for information that would benefit me based on my career. The Work Force Solutions Borderplex provides people an opportunity to help pay for certification fees for health-related occupations. It is a public workforce system in six-county Borderplex region that helps employers in finding quality and training individuals with skills needed to thrive in the working area. They administer various programs and services that are effectively address to the local workforce issues. They have partnerships with many stakeholders with the region to help improve employment, education and economic development.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that there are solutions when in search for options such as getting paid for a certification based on health-related occupations. It is an opportunity that has to be taken because they do not charge and will help search for a job opening as soon as possible. It provided skilled workers with opportunities in support of global competiveness and regional prosperity.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that Work Force Solutions is willing to help those who are seeking for a job that deals with health-related occupations. I will give the agency a call and let them know that I am interesting in getting a certification for a job as a physical therapist assistant. I learned that I can request time to inform others that are interested in getting a job that deals with health-related occupations, as well as letting them know that it is free.

WHAT: During my hours of work, the Desert Sun Chiropractic was there, the young lady provided information on what they do to help patients realize the total potential by maintaining health when using chiropractic care. Chiropractic helps adjust the vertebrae from interfering with nerves and causing any problems. They provided the patients with the highest quality of care that keeps healthy and bodies moving. Chiropractic care is essential on establishing a foundation of wellness for the patients.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that providing a high quality care for the patient’s back problems, they can go back to doing their daily activities with having to feel pain. There are good outcomes on the patients’ health since they are able to have body and healthy movement.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that people need to know what is happening when they start feeling back problems. It is essential for their health because if not taken care of micro injuries build up which causes pain to form numbness in the arms, leg, headaches or other conditions. I look forward to finding out more on how I can join the team because it involves on how to care about a patient’s spinal health which I find to be really interesting, it is a job where they keep spines injury free and healthy.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I headed towards a guess speaker from Project VIDA Health Center. The young lady provided a great amount of information that was really important to know, the center was to identify the vison of the community for the future development of the community structures and programs that help the needs and guides the direction of the society. The center wants to know what people felt they need help to improve their lives, which the community is held to determine the needs. The participants determine what the community needs and how they believe that they can achieved.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that the community helps by addressing education, healthcare and the needs of the people. I also learned that there are programs that can help those that are in need, there’s always organizations that are willing to help and all it takes is time to look and see what the community offers for the people that need support.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that people need to see that they have options if they are looking for assistance based on their status. I will get involve when the center goes to events to let people know what their plans are for the community. I learned that there are job postings and accept all round year resumes based on merit, qualifications, and abilities related to position requirements and expectations. I can request to dedicate my time and let the community know about the center.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I saw that the Border Therapy Services was at the health fair. The gentlemen gave me important information that will benefit me since I want to be an athletic trainer in the future. Their main focus is the health improvement of the patient. They provided many services such as evaluation and treatment, aquatic therapy, osteoporosis, post-surgical and sports and athletic rehabilitation, spine care, athletic performance training, work related therapy, free screening and neuro rehab. They make sure you have a full recovery, in order to go back to the daily activities and safety as possible.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that it is important to understand the injury but also the job the patient has. Border Therapy Services is a place where I can start my experience, applying everything I am currently learning at school. It is a place that fits just right since it consists of physical therapists which is the job I am trying to apply for. I will learn the basic to the hard tools I need to know in order to become a successful therapist and will help me when I become an athletic trainer.

NOW WHAT: I am aware that they are not hiring yet but I will definitely apply as soon as they have a job opening. Many of the therapists that are at Border Therapy Services are from The University of Texas at El Paso. I will try and see if I can get an internship and start working on my skills and little by little gain the knowledge I need. I am looking forward on committing myself to Border Therapy services because I like what they offer to their patients and the mission and goal they have for the safe recovery of each patient.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I took a walk around and saw Home Instead Senior Care, the lady provided information about the senior care. The serve families to provide personalized care, build relationships, and enhance the lives of seniors and their families. They arrange a home care to fit the family’s lifestyle and budget. They deliver a home care solution that meets their needs, they desire the community seniors to stay in their own homes and make their life comfortable for them and their family.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that giving back, caring and making seniors stay at home and being taken care of, is valuing them since they have raised us as the people we are today. I also learned that it is a positive outcome because elders stay at home and receive care making the family happy. By providing care, respect and devotion to the elders they will live a better life surrounded by the people they love the most.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that providing quality care and compassionate, respect and dedication of time it will help seniors live a happy life. I learned that life is great and there are no reasons why aging challenges cannot be seen as opportunities. I can request to dedicate my time, to elders that want to be taken care of at home so that they can continue to do their daily activities with loved ones. I look forward on seeing if I can get involve somehow such as letting  people know about the senior care and what they provide or even getting a job as a caregiver.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I took a walk around and saw Kindred Hospital El Paso, the gentlemen provided information about the hospital. They provided high intense medical care to medically patients who require extended recovery time. They give the best care to the patients with a passionate focus. The staff consists of knowledge, highly skilled professions who strive to succeed the best possible outcome for every patient. They want the patient’s and family to have a comfortable experience from the start day to the end.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that being committed to caring the patient and family members it can help him/her to recover to the fullest possible. There will be a good outcome knowing you are doing the best to help a patient recover back to fulfill their daily lives and go back to their love ones. By providing quality care, promote healing, provide hope for the families that are being helped.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that providing quality care and compassionate helps the patients recover to an extended period as possible. I will contact the hospital and see if I can get an internship because I feel that it will help me on the long run with gaining experience and knowledge. I learned that I can request my dedicated time to help those who want a full recovery to go back to their daily activities and family. I am looking forward to seeing the opportunities I get if I get a job at the hospital.

WHAT: During the hours of work, I headed towards a guess speaker from the Caring Senior Service of El Paso. The lady gave information about the center, their method is to ensure that the seniors receive the very best senior home care. Their goal to give seniors the control need to live safely at home and to give their families peace of mind. They work hard to provide great care for the seniors feel comfortable and safe. They believe that every senior should remain healthy, happy and home as the staff feels too.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that providing a high quality of care to seniors, can receive the best home care. Applying to a position can give me the experience of a life time because it’s all about caring for others that need assistance doing certain activities, it shows me the dedicated time and hard work is like which will help me in my career later on.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that they have three job openings however some need experience. There is the caregiver, the care manager and the agency director. I will take their information for the use of it later on when I might need to contact them. I will see if I can join the team and accomplish their goal as caregivers to provide for the seniors that are in need of a home care.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I headed towards a guess speaker from Highlands Rehabilitation Hospital. The gentlemen provided a great amount of information that was important for me to know and how I could apply for a job opening. The hospital provides the highest quality of care experience as possible. They seek new ways to improving services to the patients and family members. Their main focus is in rehabilitation, Highlands is certified in Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Faculties both in comprehensive rehabilitation and brain injury rehabilitation.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that providing quality, excellent care can be success fulling accomplished. I also learned that there’s a good outcome towards the betterment of the patient’s body movements in having an active life as they did before.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that people are getting good outcomes when attending themselves in order to get their lifestyle back. I will try to apply since the gentlemen told me that there is an opening job as an assistant physical therapist. Even though it isn’t the same as an athletic trainer it still lands in the same basics and will eventually help me gain experience and knowledge.

WHAT: During my hours of work, I headed towards a guess speaker from The American Heart Association. The lady provided a great amount of information that was really important to know, and what I could do to help. The association provides the betterment for people’s lives to be free from cardiovascular diseases and strokes. They provide public health education in a variety of ways. They are the nation’s leader in CPR education training. They help the patients understand the importance of healthy food choices. Also provide science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals to help them provide quality care to their patients.

SO WHAT: As a future athletic trainer I learned that you could always save someone’s live by informing the community on how to take care of their bodies. There will be a happy outcome knowing you are doing the best to protect and improve the health of our communities, by using different ways to provide important public education.

NOW WHAT: I am now aware that people need to get informed about the problems such as cardiovascular and other diseases can affect the body, when not taking care of their own health. I will get involved in the association by advocating the importance of health education, to protect and improve the health of our communities. I learned that The American Heart Association, I can request to help on events or speeches around the city, dedicate my time, and changes people’s lifestyles for their better health.

Ethos, Pathos, Logos FTW!

I will talk a bit about how my website will make people feel, I will explain some of the elements that I chose to make my website my own style. Here below is a sample of my website.

SECTION A: As a writer!

I will attempt to integrate the ethos, pathos, and logos in order to give my website more spark so that it can attract the attention of the audience. by adding ethos, I will attempt to add credibility to some of the material that I talk about in class, I will mostly have many experiences about various assignments; so it is important to keep some of the details for the website the most professional as possible. By adding pathos, this characteristic will make the viewer experience a specific kind of emotion according to the elements used in the website. For example my website has many dark colors and abstract effects, this will make the viewer experience seriousness and shock, that is what I meant to do in my website. As for the logos, I intend in making the audience acquire common sense, it is not a good idea to keep the viewers wandering; so I might as well explain the content in as simple manner. the logic here does not expose the material to the point where the viewers could know what to expect next, I can use elements of surprise and keep the audience comprehending the details about each section of my website.

 SECTION B: As a designer!

Simple things such as the elements of creating a website such as contrast, consistency, balance, grouping, and alignment; can make or break a website from simply make the viewers disengage and click on another website. To avoid this I will place my best efforts to adjust the characteristics of my website to fit these 5 principles in order to make my site more appealing, I will keep my text; but I will adjust the text on certain sections to give compliments to the sections of the webpage according to important information and other sub-categories. using the same style for headings throughout the website is preferable since only one theme should be used for a website in order to be unique, my website sticks to a theme; that is why some of the fonts included for most of the sections can be slightly different, but the same style. Any images or multimedia used on my website will be properly balanced to the point where the images are reasonably distant from each other, but also to the point were the audience can see a pattern to select from the various videos or images included in the site. I will group my content according to the relevance of what the viewer needs to search for, there will be sub-categories and different sections where information can be found based on each particular topic. my alignment for my website will work best with a vertical layout, since there is more detailed content rather than interactive multimedia website with a horizontal layout. the way I plan to incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos here will be the same as the first section, the only thing different will be the strategies for adjusting material in an artistic manner through out the website.

#Week15 Ethos, Pathos, Logos FTW!

Section A:

Ethos: Homepage/About me: In this section, I will make sure to use ethos by keeping it honest to myself and the person I am. I will make sure everything is nice and clean, simple, grammar corrections, making it the best it can be, such as keeping professional and a touch of my personality.

Assignment Reflections: When doing the assignment reflections, I plan to maintain ethos throughout it by reviewing the assignments that I have finish and basing my reflections off of new ideas that pops in my head of the assignments so that there’s no information missing.

Reading Reflections: When completing the reflections on my readings, I plan to use ethos by re-referencing the ebook as well as the hard copy book in order to correctly reflect and remember the readings that have been assigned throughout the semester.

Pathos: Homepage/About me: In this section, I plan on using pathos on how I setup my website such as the fonts, colors, sections, and images. I will make everything clean, simple and concise while keeping it professional.

Assignment Reflections: On this section, I will reflect on everything that I have done that has help me get to where I am in the semester and also as to how much effort and hard work and dedication on each of the assignments I’ve done. Reading Reflections: For this section, I will make sure to use pathos throughout talking about some of the readings and how they helped me in the completion of my assignments as well as how they assist me throughout the class semester.

Logos: Homepage/About me: In this section I will use logos by maintaining only one layout throughout my website as well as making sure that all of the information is correct for the reader to understand. I will also look at the websites that have been provided for us to compare it to mine in order to make sure that I am on the right path on creating a good website.

Assignment Reflections: In this section, logos can be applied throughout the website by using examples. The examples can come from the pdf files as well as other assignment files that has been posted in order to make sure that everything is right.

Reading Reflections: Sort of like the assignment reflections, I will be referencing the ebook and the hard copy book so I can make sure that all of the information and examples that I’ve used for the readings are correct and understanding.

Section B:

Ethos: I will employ ethos as a designer, by using the correct information and creditable sources. Also, correct grammar and punctuation which will be employed in order to ensure that my website design will follow the rules of ethos.

Pathos: I will employ pathos as a designer, because I can showcase it through the layout of my website, the colors of the website, the use of appropriate sound and the overall content of the website. I plan on keeping the design of my website simple and neat so that my website can be successful.

Logos: As a designer, I will employ the use of logos by maintaining a nice and simple layout that can be easy to see and make sure the layouts are the same. I will only be using information that is accurate and helpful for support.

THINKING ABOUT MY WEBSITE

We would take a look on some examples of websites an critique them based on various categories. I will also talk about some ideas that I want for my website.

SECTION A:

QUESTIONS FOR ANALYSIS: http://trendlines.ca/

1. In the “trendlines” website, the balance of this site is completely terrible; the author of this site did not even attempt to display the text accordingly to match and compliment the main page. Everything looks like one big block of text behind a background that has way too many colors just enough to give someone a headache.

2. The contrast that is used in this website, is completely outdated. The text resembles to the text from windows 97, and to say the least this text is over all over the place. Some of the text is in different color which does not match at all with the background, the text is even different font sizes for each section of the main page.

3. This website does not apparently have good consistency since some of the text is different sizes in each section of the home page.

4. I can use the alignment and grouping to make this website cleaner and easily understandable. If this website featured more interactive options to navigate the site, it could turn out to be more user friendly.

5. This site lacks effectiveness and could use more work into making the website appealing to the audience. If this website can have all these principles improved, the site could use more tweaks to transform from an outdated website to a modern and improved technological website.

1. For the website “Aaron Marquez” this website is properly laid out with many interactive and user friendly. The author of this website has used techniques that can be appealing to the audience such as the alteration of brightness and darkness, the transitions to the different sections of the webpage are very well animated.

2. The contrast that is used in this website, is modern and vibrant. The images and animations complement the main page to the extent that the audience can reflect their attention to this website.

3. The website uses good consistency, the text is mostly thin, and however this works by integrating the text into the background where the transitions can freely animate the text.

4. I could use minimal tweaks and adjustments to clean up this website by adding more redirections to specific portals. Some of the animations and transitions can be too much to handle in the internet, therefore not making this website as user-friendly as it should be

5. This site has much effectiveness for its own theme, it does not need much as to only having a specific theme available to the audience. I think that this website does a good job in making this sort of mechanism more appealing to the audience.  

SECTION B: 1. I will have to ensure that my website is user friendly, I would want to add some animations between sections of the website. Another good idea is to make the images used in my website more interactive, I would want to achieve as much balance towards my website by synthesizing the text corresponding to the specific features that serve different functions.

2. I will make sure that I can keep an efficient contrast by manipulating the text and be precise to how I actually use the text and what I use it for. I could match the text accordingly to its theme and I can format the text to fit the background and design elements.

3. I could be able to use good consistency by preventing the over- usage of animations or transitions that might cause issues while navigating the website. The text that I will most certainly use will be one type of text that remains the same in every section of the webpage, but will either italicize of bold on some particular sections of information.

4. I could use minimal tweaks and adjustments to align text as efficiently as possible according to the page layout of my theme. I think that following a specific theme should not alter the elements of text and design to make it abstract, being creative and original should be an effective process to creating a website that could appeal to the audience.

5. I will most likely use dark colors mainly because I think that bright colors will affect the audience by making visual effects less appealing. Dark colors can blend with the sight of the audience to the point where they are comfortable navigating the website.

6. I can ensure that my website is well designed by practicing how to integrate visual effects, animations, transitions, and images. I think that by adding some small elements of design and structure, the website should be that most appealing that it can be.

Hey great post! I agree with all your evaluation of both websites of the five design principles. I’m curious of how you will make your images interactive.. so i’m looking forward on seeing that. Italicizing and Bolding titles can make a page look simple and good if you decide to maybe use the same background throughout all your tabs. Reading your description and looking at your previous 1301 website I can tell you will succeed and it will look very nice! Good luck!

#Week14 Thinking about my website

First I will be using five principles of the design such as contrast, consistency, balance, grouping and alignment to make sure my website receives a good grade.

Section A:

I will be analyzing this website http://trendlines.ca/.

Questions for analysis:

1. Identify and describe the balance of the site.

The website is has some balanced because the text is clear to read however they used different colors in the text and everything is easily accessible.  The colors used in this website are moderately well because it is not poorly lit or tasteless and definitely grab my attention.

2. How is contrast employed on the site?

The contrast on the site is fairly well but not the greatest due to the fact they used a light violet background for the information given for example the price components. The designer of this website could have used other colors that would make the website better. The font size is small but readable.

3. Evaluate the site’s use of consistency.

The use of consistency is not the same because they use different colors on the website making it hard for the audience to focus on just one part.

4. Describe the site’s utilization of alignment and grouping.

The alignment of this website is not good because most of the text is spread out with different templates and the grouping of images and the numbers in the graph are not consistent which makes it confusing.

5. Based on your analysis of the site in terms of the principles of design, describe the effectiveness of the site.

Based on my analysis of the website in terms of the principles of design, the effectiveness of the site is clearly weak which gives me an idea of what not to do in my site for instance the use of different color of text as well as having the information separated everywhere.

Based on my analysis of the website in terms of the principles of design, the effectiveness of this site is great. It helped me see how organized, simple and clean my website should be. This helps me get an idea of what my website should look like.

1. What will you have to do to ensure that your website is balanced?

I will have to use the same format of text and size of images I will be displaying on my website. Also I will make sure the website is simple and there’s not too much on the site because that will throw off the balance.

2. How will you use contrast on your website?

I will use the contrast on my website to maintain the same theme and use the same colored text throughout the website as well as the format so that it looks clean and organized.

3. Where will you employ consistency on your website?

I will employ consistency on my website by maintaining the same layout on every page of the website.

I can use alignment and grouping to make my website more effective because it will help it look clean and organized. This will help the readers have an easy access to pages.

The colors I will use for my website are still undecided but I will make sure not to use the blinding colors such as green, yellow and pink text. I will use colors such as grey or black or something to keep it simple and clean.

6. How else can you ensure that your website is well-designed?

I will ensure my website is well-designed by following the website supplemental guidelines and asking the professor any questions regarding the website. Now I can start building my own site!!!!

WRAPPING UP THE FILM: CREATING A PLAN OF ACTION

a. What days and times will you commit to the project?

My Team(G.A.S.S) and I are committing the project on Fridays @ 1 p.m. in the library ( 3rd floor and get a little room) and Sunday  evening we meet online using Gmail.com where we can all collaborate on the same document at once.

b. What days/times are you working as a group and when will you work alone?

So my team and I decided things would run smoothly if we did mostly everything together when we meet up on Fridays. I will be working alone only on my section (there are four, hence G.A.S.S) which is social work. Aside from that we made an agreement that we must all be together in meetings in order for our documentary to run smoothly.

c. Specifically, what aspect of the project will you address on each of those days?

On our first meeting we all brought ideas and talked it through to see how we could use everybody’s ideas in some way or another. We tackled bit of each requirement and as the meetings continue to go by we make each slide stronger and stronger. We will continue to review everything in the hour that we meet in order to make sure we will not miss anything on the checklist!

d. Specifically, what will you do to complete those aspects of the project?

I will revise my interview video and cut a clip that best fits our documentary. I will make sure it all makes sense and get other opinions so we can improve it. In order to complete every aspect we must focus and get stuff done. Review all the requirements, make it better each and every meeting , but most importantly make it know that we are all fighting for something regardless of our different majors, and that is EQUALITY amongst race.

e. What specific aspects of the assignment are you most concerned about? What can you do to address those concerns?

I am most concerned about our different majors. Although we realized it can and will work out it makes me nervous that maybe we wont be able to express ourselves and our sense wont see the actual meaning we are trying to portray. I will push and push too get opinions and critiques on what we should change to get a great response from our final audience and professor. My other concern is our advocacy we need to make it stronger but I feel once we keep going over our slides it will be more clear on what we are rooting for.

f. What specific aspects of the assignment are you most comfortable with? Why?

I am most comfortable with the section of social work and that is only because that is the topic I have been focusing during most of the semester. I am not an expert on graphic design, anthropology and  education but I trust that my peers will allow me to see their confidence through their work. I am also very comftrable with all the statistics that my peers and I have provided because they are accurate, come from good sources and I believe that can have a great impact on our community and audience.

I’m really exited for our final documentary!!
