Except the line “Starting petitions over redoing it is a waste of time and impossible to expect from big name productions” isn’t a true statement at all. It’s been done and been successful before.

For starters making a petition doesn’t hurt anyone. I could be a waste of time, sure, but it’s not your time so you don’t get to tell people how they can and can’t waste it. If someone wants to start 1000 petitions to get something remade that’s their business.

Secondly it’s worked in the past. There was outrage over the shitty way Mass Effect 3′s ending was made. Fans made a big deal about it and it got fixed. The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is getting a makeover before release because of the outcry over how fucking horrible it looked. Ubisoft changed the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey DLC that forced your character to be straight and crank out a kid because people were rightfully pissed about that.

Nobody is obligated to redo their material for any reason, that’s very true, but that doesn’t mean the consumers (and let’s call that what it is it’s 2019 media isn’t a charity handed out to the starving masses it’s a commodity and fans are consumers paying for it with their hard earned money) can’t complain and ask for something better.

Mainly because it doesn’t fucking matter. Either they throw their tantrum and something happens or it doesn’t. Neither of those things effect you in any way. You aren’t the arbiter of how people get to react to the media they’re paying to consume and big-name-production content creators don’t need you to protect them.

video games are a somewhat different case since they’re mostly offered as a service now and changes can be made more easily with patches and updates.

i was mainly talking about film and tv, and lol using the sonic movie as an example…. yeah im sure it’s great animators and VFX artists are going to be forced into crunch time for what’s probably going to turn out to be a mediocre product anyway. this isn’t something that should be industry standard or something people think they can get just by throwing a tantrum really loud. think of who’s actually going to suffer the consequences of backlash because something looks ugly. this isn’t something to be celebrated.

and it’s unrealistic to expect every time just because it might work in a few very special cases. like do people think you press the “animate” button and woop there it is? no. it’s months-years of work done so far in advance, there’d be serious complications redoing it because of money, time, contracts (actor contracts and shooting in the case of live action) etc so most studios will not even bother. they. don’t. care. they got your money and that’s it. a signature of ~30000 sent to dreamworks didnt fix voltron’s abysmal last season and they didn’t owe it to anyone to fix it anyway. sometimes a product is bad and that’s that.

you really want to send a message you need to talk with your money. walk away from something if you don’t like how it’s turned out. pirate it. whatever. don’t hatewatch it then throw a tantrum when it sucks. be a fucking adult and moderate your own consumption of media. don’t expect someone else’s work to bend and cater to your every whim. so yeah no, “redo it” petitions are always going to be stupid and entitled.

and clearly you didn’t read the first part of my post because i literally said you should criticize and express your discontent with media. amazingly enough you can do that without demanding an entire do-over.
