Ben Cooper costumes. There were three big Halloween costume retailers years back, Ben Cooper having the distinction of being dubbed "The Halston of Halloween" by the press. People will joke about how hokey and uncomfortable the costumes are today, but they really were all the rage and kids could easily afford them with pocket money. I do recall going Trick 'r Treating as The Creature From The Black Lagoon when I was very little, likely back in '82. "Revenge of The Creature" had just aired in 3-D on TV that summer, and I'm sure that influenced by costume choice. I recently attended a screening at The Museum of The Moving Image out in Queens, and reissues of the Godzilla mask pictured above as well as a Gremlins one were for sale in the gift shop.
