       “That is the literal exact opposite of my problem right now.” Jordan folded his arms. “Do I gotta get my dad involved? The basement is like, twenty steps away. You’ll survive.”

“Fine,” Belle dramatically replied. “But only if you help me move all this crap,” she demanded, gesturing to her setup. Bird bones, wild herbs, candles, three bowls of virgin blood, and the skull of an infant lay before her in an intricate arrangement.

“You shouldn’t think so much about things you can’t change,“ Belle replied, wondering if he noticed her implication. Though she wasn’t called here for a deal, she wouldn’t mind doing some work today. It’d been a while. “The past can only haunt you if you let it.”
