utterly convinced that the initial staticmoth dynamic consisted of Val very purposefully setting out to seduce Vox at any cost. He saw this charming, self-serious, transparently insecure bundle of repressed emotions and internalized homophobia and immediately thought 'just fucking him isn't enough, I need to be personally responsible for breaking through every inhibition that sad bisexual wreck has.' all while vox was equally intent on courting valentino into some kind business arrangement, blissfully oblivious to what he was walking into. and like, obviously the operation was a resounding success, only at some point over the course of Val's slow, ruthlessly systematic assault on Vox's ability to perform some simulacrum of respectable heterosexuality he caught the most abominable case of feelings imaginable and never fucking recovered

bonus points for it being one of those fell first/fell harder moments, because of course Vox was fucked from the moment this extremely attractive and charismatic man started lavishing him with attention, following his directions, and openly expressing desire for him. He simply isn't capable of engaging with that without emotionally investing to a downright dangerous degree. Val took a lot longer to view it as anything more than a hedonistic game played for mutual fun and profit, but when he did? Oh it was so over. Vox is now the axis upon which his entire world spins and there can be no coming back from that.

thinking about vox being like ‘my goal is to take over heaven!’ and alastor responding by going ok cool 🙂 jsyk no matter what you do or what you accomplish nothing will ever be enough and you will always be an empty husk of a person because you were born broken and will be doomed to that for the rest of your existence 🙂
