my coworker used AI to generate a giant readme file and submitted a pull request for it without even checking for things like 'does it say that this project is maintained by a team that doesn't exist?' or 'does it contain three different sections with the exact same information?' so now I'm going through it flagging things in the most nitpicky fashion I possibly can because he deserves to be miserable for making me review this.

My job has me working on a pilot project to evaluate AI-driven software development. My project manager (of all people) branched from an outdated dev version, had AI write a new feature, submitted a pull request without adding any reviewers, chose to overwrite the merge conflicts without checking if he was erasing existing code, and then closed the pull request without telling anyone.

Cue our end users freaking out at me because the entire project stopped working overnight except for the feature added by the manager.

Suffice to say I'm embracing some righteous glee in using pointed language now that I'm writing this incident into my evaluation.

#AI wasn't directly the problem #but boy howdy the laziness sure was #for those not in software a major part of the project manager's job is to prevent this kind of thing from happening so it's very ironic
