I think it's important to sometimes ask yourself "are they actually that dumb, or am I buying into what should be an obvious strawman?"

Especially when you're hearing something secondhand from someone who has every motivation to lie or exaggerate.

For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about. At least on Tumblr when I see stuff I don't care about I know someone I follow has found a new interest.

Man one thing I love about the Guild Wars series is that Humans are actually interesting. Like in most high fantasy settings with magical races, humans are just kinda there as a footnote. They’re kinda just there because it’s expected. When you look at their lore and culture in the wider world fantasy humans are kinda just… nothingburger. The Guild Wars series is legitimately the only series I know of where Humans have an actual presence with interesting lore. Guild Wars Humans they could never make me hate you.

People have pointed out that Humans in the Guild Wars universe fill a similar role as High Elves in a lot of others: magically gifted race that once ruled great empires but whose power declined in the face of a race of shorter-lived, tribalist, military-minded enemies.

Same crap happened to gaming, it was a functioning, thriving business until ironically shareholders and investors started getting involved. But with more money came their opinions and "ideas" and now everything from the big names is lame and gay and companies like Ubisoft and Blizzard are slowly dying. They turn their backs on loyal fan bases to appease people who have no interest or even hate the medium.

A hobby becoming mainstream is basically the beginning of the end, gotta gatekeep harder.
