I didn’t know where to start and I’m really awkward when it comes to these things, so I thought I would break the ice and dive straight in by showing you my costume for the Red Tour in London. BOOM. Yup, I’m a maple latté. I’m cool like that.
I had the most incredible, unforgettable time that evening in February. I couldn’t believe I was seeing you perform live! I was in a dream. I sang and danced as hard as I could the whole night (very challenging, I may add, when dressed as a popular festive beverage) and I made some friends who I will cherish forever. After the concert I grossly sobbed and a few other fans saw and got quite concerned haha but I just was so overwhelmed after seeing you that I had a panic attack. Haha. Again — I’m a cool one.
Taylor, I really, really need to tell you that you are an incredible human and you have taught me things over the past three years that I could never have learned from anyone else. You have made me a better person and last year you got me through a hard time in my life when I all I wanted was to give up. I thought that time would never end, but then I saw that you wrote a note to a girl which said “Taylor needs me so I’m going to take care of myself”. Ever since I saw that note I knew I had to be kinder to myself for you, and whenever I wanted to do something bad i knew you wouldn’t want me to.
You brought me out of that dark place Taylor, and my dream is that one day I can fully explain to you how you helped me whilst looking you in the eye and thanking you from the bottom of my heart for giving me a newfound positivity and a fresh outlook on life.
Recently I have looked to you as someone who promotes the idea of being who you want to be; not fitting in with the crowd, as is the message you convey in Shake It Off. I feel like that song was written for me and it was released at the perfect time, since recently I have started to recognise that I need to embrace who I am and not mind what other people think. I have realised that need to follow my heart to do what I want, and not to be afraid of what that is. Not to compromise my own happiness to ‘please others’. I may be a massive dork, but hey - I’m okay with that.
I would do anything to repay you for what you have done for me - you have changed my life for the better not only through your incredible music, but by example of what a genuinely kind person you are with fantastic values. It is amazing to be able to look up to (literally - i’m rly short) such a generous and good-willed person and to know that you care about me. That sounds silly, since you do not know that I exist. I am just a (grossly sobbing) face in the crowd, but somehow I feel like I know you, and you know me (I didn’t mean for that to sound creepy I SWEAR).
You have changed me for the better Taylor, and I truly hope I can tell you that in person one day. I will do anything to meet you. Thank you for existing, and for being the person you are. I love you.
