Ok every time I see this post I see people cheering about it and it always bothers me. I know youâre all happy and excited that a female with a high position is saying this but I feel like this needs to be said though Iâm sure no one is gonna pay attention anyway.
1. First, this thing as far as I know is either from 9gag.com or reddit, it has NO LEGITIMATE SOURCE whatsoever. Nearly all sources about this âcommentâ she made is in English, and a few in simplified Chinese. Simplified Chinese is NOT the official language of Taiwan, we use traditional ChineseâŠâŠand information concerning this comment that are written in traditional Chinese? Not much. Iâve even saw some Taiwanese people confused af, posting this pic and asking where this is from and everyone is like âHuh, she said that? I donât think she said that.â Some even speculated that maybe itâs a fake Chinese new to make her look bad but I doubt that because my next point.
2. Honestly that comment doesnât even make sense in Chinese, we donât have that saying, it clearly is a response to the English saying âWhy buy a cow when you can get milk for free.âÂ
3. The reason why she isnât married isnât because she doesnât want to âbuy a whole pig just for a sausageâ. She said in an interview once (the interview is published by newspaper) that she had a fiancĂ© when she was in College, but he died in an accident. After that she really didnât have the heart or time to be in a serious relationship again as she has devoted herself in politics. Saying that she isnât married because of reason other than the one she said herself is quite disrespecting.
4. The comment itself is rather very double standard sexist, itâs not okay to comment something like that to women, so why is it okay to make that comment when itâs directed to men?
She is a awesome female politician, Iâm glad I voted for her and Iâm very excited on how she is going to change my country in the future. But to me itâs just disrespectful when you are putting words she did not say into her mouth to further spread your own viewpoints.Â
You know what? If there is anything about her that deserves to be well known, it shouldnât be this fake comment she never said, I feel like it should be how she is an absolute huge cat nerd/lover instead.
Anyway thank you for those who has bothered to read this.
My point is, this is fake stop spreading false information.
Thank you for debunking that post! Some more information about this wonderful lady, who is the first female president of Taiwan: Her name is Tsai Ing-Wen, she supports marriage equality and Taiwanese sovereignty, and she has two lovely cats who went with her on the campaign trail.
The catsâ names are Xiang-Xiang (which means something like âthink thinkâ) and Ah-Tsai. (If I have them wrong, someone tell me!)Â
Theyâre both rescue cats: Xiang-Xiang was rescued after a typhoon and Tsai herself found Ah-Tsai as a stray in a pineapple field.Â
The picture above is Xiang-Xiang (I think), and this is Ah-Tsai:
