🍃 Environmental Week: Day 1, simple at home ideas.
Hi guys I'm starting my own min series this week of things you can do to help the environment both locally and on a global scale! this is day 1, simple at home ideas.
Small bit of information: Some of these fixes also help save money in the long run as well, so even if your main focus isn't the environment and is saving money some of these tips will help you out!

☆.𓋼𓍊 Small habits 𓍊𓋼𓍊.☆~ The real money saver
𖠰 Unplugging Ghost outlets: When you're not charging your phone or using a lamp or any other small item, unplug it completely from the wall. Doing this saves on power which the less power you consume the lower your power bill is for one and lowers your carbon footprint.
𖠰 Limit water use: By turning off the water when you're not rinsing, by turning off the water when you brush your teeth, you limit your water consumption by gallons in a year. Which again, the less water you use the less money you will spend on the water bill.
𖠰 Use Candles: Candles are a great way to limit the number of lights you use and the amount of air fresheners you buy. Many candles do not have any plastic and can save money on the electricity bill. Many candle brands are cheaper than a bottle of Fra breeze and last longer.
☆.𓋼𓍊 at home products I recommend 𓍊𓋼𓍊.☆
𓆏 Bamboo toothbrushes: These can be found cheap at dollar general (Depending on where you're at). These do last longer before fraying when compared to the plastic toothbrushes. They're also much better for the environment as well.
𓆏 Using a water flosser: These are reusable, and don't have plastic waste unlike normal flossing picks.
𓆏 Buying reusable bags: These are great for when you go grocery shopping, or go out in general, as some places do charge you if you want a bag.
𓆏 Metal water bottle and straw: Overall amazing option that a lot of people have and use.
☆.𓋼𓍊 Outdoor 𓍊𓋼𓍊.☆
✿ Using Rainwater: This is great for watering plants and saves money on the water bill for you to water everything.
✿ Planting your own fruits and vegetables: Helps limit the amount bought in stores which lowers pesticide numbers, overall great to have plants, and a great source of food. Will also help you start a compost pile, which is great for the environment rather than ending up in a land mind
✿ Using local plants: This helps support your natural environment and help the bee/ pollinator section of the wildlife! Also planting flowers native to your area attracts butterflies which is a pretty sight to see. Also it helps with the bird population as well.
"This won't help or do anything" says millions a year, it does help it does build up. You can do it, we can do it.

"wasted potential" you are still living!!! your potential is still here, you can carry on
everything is ok at any age
when you tell people passports don't need to exist and people should be able to travel as they did throughout most of human history they think that's going too far because in their mind there exists a hoard of nameless faceless immigrants waiting to flood their country and "take over". without realising that there is nothing inherently superior about the imperial core countries - the culture, the food, the clothing, the architecture is not superior than that of the rest of the world. all you've got going for you are the benefits reaped from hundreds of years of historical colonisation and the continuing benefits of modern day imperialism. do you think if people's homes weren't subject to manufactured violence, artificial scarcity, and systematic disenfranchisement they'd all just wanna leave? can you not imagine a life where someone would be happier living in uganda than the usa?
‘bread is bad for you’ ‘rice is bad for you’ sorry im not subscribing to the idea that staple grains that have been integral to cultures for centuries are evil. i love you carbs

no self-betrayal in 2026
honestly what an amazing way to frame this idea. to be your own whole self, you cannot betray that self: your autonomy, your ideals, your humanity, cannot be up for debate.
to be yourself as a whole human being you must preserve your autonomy, preserve what you value, preserve your understanding of yourself as a whole human being with your own needs, desires, plans, goals, way of doing things, and way of being, and that you answer to yourself first and foremost.
CRIMINAL MINDS 2.21 — "Open Season"
Yes yes yes this scene thank you for the tag, heehehehe
It’s funny because this scene must be based on the memoir Special Agent by Candis DeLong. In it she describes being out looking at clothes at a department store on lunch break with another female agent and overhearing a conversation between a man and a woman in which he says he’s an FBI agent. They peer around some clothes racks thinking that they’re going to see one of their fellow agents trying to get a date, and when they don’t recognize the guy they go over and pretend to be interested in the big strong FBI agent themselves and ask to see his badge. The guy actually pulled out a fake badge, whereupon they said “Huh, that doesn’t look anything like ours…”, produced their own badges and arrested him for impersonating an FBI agent. (I remember this bit from a 25 year old book because I actually stole it myself for a fic)
Exquisite. Glorious. 10/10 thank you for sharing.
a great perspective to have
